Top cop holds multi-agency meet for smooth Ganesh festivities
Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand held an inter-departmental coordination meeting on August 14 at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Ganesh Navratri celebrations. CV Anand urged 'mandapam' managers to strictly adhere to court orders on idol immersion and provide police with details about their idols for better security and CCTV surveillance. He stressed the importance of having service-minded volunteers at mandapams to manage crowds and traffic. He also requested cooperation from the Ganesh Utsava Samiti on the use of DJ systems, citing health concerns for the elderly and children. Representatives from the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti and the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Utsav Samiti raised several issues, appealing for pothole repairs, uninterrupted street lighting, and adequate drinking water for devotees. They also requested that vehicles be made available for transporting idols and that tree branches obstructing procession routes be removed. Responding to these concerns, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan assured that baby ponds and cranes would be set up for immersion. He said that 160 special action teams have been formed to resolve all pending issues, and facilities such as ambulances, fire brigades, mobile toilets, and extra power transformers will be arranged. Metro Rail officials confirmed that additional trips would run until midnight. Hyderabad Collector Harichandana said medical teams would be deployed at all CP Traffic Joel Davis stated that staff and officers would be deployed day and night to ensure traffic is not disrupted. TGICCC Director V B Kamalasan Reddy said CCTV cameras from all three commissionerates are connected for continuous that Vinayaka Chavithi and Milad un Nabi festivals coincide this year, CV Anand called for everyone's cooperation to ensure the festivities conclude without incident. He reiterated that Hyderabad City Police are making tight security arrangements for the festival.

Cocaine, ‘Meow Meow' drug seized in Hyderabad; 9 held
Hyderabad, Jul 23 (PTI) Nine people, including a software employee, involved in drug peddling were on Wednesday apprehended here in separate cases and 286 grams of cocaine, 100 gms of synthetic mephedrone, also known as 'Meow Meow' drug and 11 ecstasy pills were seized from them, police said. On credible information, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) along with police teams conducted a joint operation and took four Mumbai-based interstate drug peddlers and one local peddler into custody. They also seized 276 grams of cocaine and eight mobile phones all worth Rs 69 lakh, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand told reporters. Two consumers were also detained in this connection. The accused procured cocaine from a foreign supplier who smuggled drugs into India through sea, delivered to sub-supplier (another foreigner) who then supplied it to the Mumbai-based peddlers and through a local peddler the drug was sold to consumers in Hyderabad, they said. In the second case, police teams apprehended a drug peddler in the Bollarum Police Station limits, who worked as a software employee and seized 10 grams cocaine and 11 ecstasy pills, all worth Rs 3.10 lakh. He procured cocaine from Bengaluru and Goa. In the third case, the HNEW team conducted an operation in the limits of Begum Bazar Police Station and nabbed two drug transporters and one local drug peddler, all natives of Rajasthan and seized 100 gram 'Meow-Meow' drug along with a country-made pistol, six live bullet rounds, all worth Rs 10 lakh. The accused had procured the 'Meow-Meow' drug from Rajasthan, police said. Separate cases under NDPS Act and Arms Act were registered. Hyd'bad top cop flags off grand Bonalu procession
Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand, accompanied by his wife Lalitha Anand, visited the Sri Akkanna Madanna Temple on Monday and officially flagged off the Ghatam procession. On this occasion, the Commissioner expressed his immense happiness to participate in the procession and extended his gratitude and best wishes to the temple management and the organisers. The Commissioner highlighted the remarkable 350-year history of the Sri Akkanna Madanna Temple. He noted that during the Qutub Shahi rule in 1675, pujas were performed here for a decade. Following the demise of Akkanna and Madanna, the pujas ceased. However, after India gained independence, the temple was meticulously reconstructed, and its sacred pujas and festivals were joyfully resumed. Anand recounted that Goddess Mahankali was historically invoked to protect everyone from plagues, diseases, and floods, and she consistently provided that protection. CV Anand also mentioned that the Bonalu festival has been celebrated grandly for the past month, with Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha taking a special interest and providing all necessary support to organise it on an unprecedented scale this year. Regarding security arrangements, the Commissioner explained that robust police security had been put in place at the temple and along the Ghatam procession route to prevent stampedes. He also stated that arrangements had been made in coordination with all departments to ensure devotees faced no inconvenience. He further noted that She Teams and Crime Teams had been deployed specifically to prevent eve-teasing, pickpocketing, and chain snatching. The Commissioner thanked all Hyderabad officials for performing their duties to ensure the Bonalu festival was conducted peacefully. Among the officials present were Vikram Singh Mann (Additional CP, Law and Order), D Joel Davis (Joint CP Traffic), K Apoorva Rao (DCP Special Branch), Sneha Mehra (DCP South Zone), Rakshitha Krishna Murthy (DCP CAR Headquarters), and Venkateswarlu (DCP Traffic).

Hyderabad: Onthe auspicious occasion of the Bonalu festival at Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand stated that comprehensive precautionary measures are in place to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for all visitors. The Commissioner emphasized the robust security framework, stating that CCTV cameras, dedicated crime squads, and SHE Teams have been strategically deployed to maintain strict vigilance against chain snatchers, pickpockets, and eve-teasers. The Commissioner, along with other senior officers, also paid their respects to the Goddess. Following the darshan, the Commissioner conducted a thorough inspection of the temple premises, meticulously examining the queue lines to ensure devotees experience no inconvenience. Hyd top cop joins Lal Darwaza Bonalu festivities, assures full security
Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand participated in the Lal Darwaza Bonalu festival, including the Shikara Puja and Dwajarohanam (flag hoisting) ceremonies. The Commissioner stated that it is customary for the temple committee to invite the Hyderabad City Kotwal for these annual events. CV Anand noted that the Bonalu festivities have been observed here for approximately 120 years, continuing the same tradition. Across Telangana, people celebrate the Bonalu festival with great devotion for a month. CV Anand was accompanied by GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, K Apoorva Rao (DCP Special Branch), Sneha Mehra (DCP South Zone), and R Venkateswarlu (DCP Traffic), along with other officials, Temple Committee Chairman B Maruthi Yadav, and committee members. The Commissioner recalled that the Lal Darwaza Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple is a historically significant temple. In 1908, severe floods caused by heavy rains and a widespread plague epidemic in the areas surrounding this temple led to the deaths of approximately 50,000 people. At that time, Hyderabad's population stood at 4 lakh. Upon the advice of Prime Minister Kishen Pershad, the then Nizam, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, arranged special prayers for the Goddess. 'Following these prayers, the Musi River floods subsided, and the epidemic receded. Since then, it has been a tradition to celebrate Bonalu during the Ashadha month,' stated CV Anand. On this occasion, the Commissioner stated that the Police Department has made all necessary security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents. He recalled that the Golconda Bonalu and Balkampet Bonalu were conducted peacefully.
