Hyd'bad top cop flags off grand Bonalu procession
The Commissioner highlighted the remarkable 350-year history of the Sri Akkanna Madanna Temple. He noted that during the Qutub Shahi rule in 1675, pujas were performed here for a decade. Following the demise of Akkanna and Madanna, the pujas ceased. However, after India gained independence, the temple was meticulously reconstructed, and its sacred pujas and festivals were joyfully resumed. Anand recounted that Goddess Mahankali was historically invoked to protect everyone from plagues, diseases, and floods, and she consistently provided that protection.
CV Anand also mentioned that the Bonalu festival has been celebrated grandly for the past month, with Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha taking a special interest and providing all necessary support to organise it on an unprecedented scale this year.
Regarding security arrangements, the Commissioner explained that robust police security had been put in place at the temple and along the Ghatam procession route to prevent stampedes. He also stated that arrangements had been made in coordination with all departments to ensure devotees faced no inconvenience. He further noted that She Teams and Crime Teams had been deployed specifically to prevent eve-teasing, pickpocketing, and chain snatching. The Commissioner thanked all Hyderabad officials for performing their duties to ensure the Bonalu festival was conducted peacefully.

He said that 160 special action teams have been formed to resolve all pending issues, and facilities such as ambulances, fire brigades, mobile toilets, and extra power transformers will be arranged. Metro Rail officials confirmed that additional trips would run until midnight. Hyderabad Collector Harichandana said medical teams would be deployed at all CP Traffic Joel Davis stated that staff and officers would be deployed day and night to ensure traffic is not disrupted. TGICCC Director V B Kamalasan Reddy said CCTV cameras from all three commissionerates are connected for continuous that Vinayaka Chavithi and Milad un Nabi festivals coincide this year, CV Anand called for everyone's cooperation to ensure the festivities conclude without incident. CV Anand holds review meet on arrangements for Ganesh festivities
Hyderabad: In view of the upcoming Vinayaka Chaturthi festival, Hyderabad City police commissioner C.V. Anand held a preparatory video conference regarding the installation and immersion of Ganesh idols. The commissioner discussed the matter in detail with all Hyderabad City Police personnel, from Sub-Inspectors to the Additional Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad city. It has been observed that for the past three years, the Milad un Nabi festival has coincided with the Ganesh Navaratri celebrations. Since this year is no exception, CV Anand gave detailed instructions on the precautions to be taken to ensure both events proceed smoothly. During the conference, the Commissioner provided comprehensive instructions on the precautions to be taken during the installation of the idols, how to coordinate with the mandap organizers until the time of immersion, and the security arrangements required during the immersion processions. He instructed all Sector S.I.s and Police Station S.H.O.s to collect complete details of the mandaps in their respective areas. This information will facilitate geo-tagging, which will be useful for managing security arrangements and tracking the movement of idols during the immersion procession. The Commissioner further advised that meetings should be held frequently at the police station level with mandap organizers to coordinate and provide them with the necessary facilities. Gold and cash worth lakhs stolen from locked house during Bonalu visit
Gold ornaments weighing 26 tolas and ₹4.5 lakh in cash were stolen from a residence in Hydershakote while the family was away attending the Bonalu festival in Warangal. The theft came to light when the homeowner returned early on Thursday (August 7) morning to find the kitchen door tampered with and valuables missing from the bedroom cupboards. According to the complaint filed with Narsingi police, Gogula Sridhar Reddy, a 54-year-old private employee residing in Kapila Nagar Colony, had left for his native village in Warangal district, along with his wife and son on August 3 around 5 p.m. The family stated that all doors, including the kitchen, bedroom, and main entrance, were securely locked before they departed. On their return at around 8:50 a.m. on August 7, the family found the main door undisturbed but noticed the lock on the kitchen door had been tampered with. The entry to the kitchen had also been blocked from within. Upon entering the bedroom, they discovered the cupboards damaged and valuable items stolen. Other parts of the house remained untouched. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The scene has been examined, preliminary clues have been gathered, and efforts are underway to identify and trace the culprits.
