Rangers' former kit partners ‘sign deal with historic club' weeks after Ibrox side drop brand from new jerseys
GETTING SHIRTY Rangers' former kit partners 'sign deal with historic club' weeks after Ibrox side drop brand from new jerseys RANGERS won't have Castore on their shirts from next season. But the upstart brand is reportedly going to feature on another historic club's jerseys for 2025/26. 2 Castore first linked up with Rangers in 2021 Credit: SNS 2 Next season's Rangers home top The Ibrox side are returning to Umbro as kit supplier after five controversial years with Castore. But it's not quite as simple as that because Castore have acquired Umbro's sub-licence, therefore meaning they are in charge of the distribution of Umbro kits in Europe. Indeed, Gers quietly extended their deal with Castore in February 2023 for a further seven years. What is for certain however is that Rangers will not be sporting the Castore logo and instead next season's strips - and potentially more going forward - will bear the Umbro trademarks. But the Castore brand will be appearing on the tops of Middlesbrough, reports suggest. According to FootyHeadlines and Boro Buzz, the Championship side will begin a partnership with Castore from the start of next season. Boro, the 11th oldest club in the EFL, formally announced they would be parting ways with Errea as a kit manufacturer back in March. The Teesside outfit were one of the founding members of the Premier League and will hope to return their next season after missing out on the play-offs this season. Boro lost their way in the play-off race around about the same time they lost Scotland wonderkid Ben Doak to injury. Doak, 19, will return to parent club Liverpool now that his loan deal at the Riverside has epxired. Rangers icon Paul Gascoigne makes surprise Match of the Day appearance as footie greats pay tribute to Gary Lineker Boro fans would no doubt love to see him back in North Yorkshire but Everton could make a shock bid to sign him from their Merseyside rivals in the summer. The former Celtic starlet has also attracted interest from newly-crowned FA Cup champions Crystal Palace. The newly-unveiled Rangers home kit for 2025/26 divided opinion initially while a leaked and as-yet-to-be-confirmed away top was met with a much poorer response from punters. Elsewhere, Celtic star Daizen Maeda is reportedly attracting interest from Turkish club Fenerbahce, a move that would see him link up with Jose Mourinho. Chance to pitch to Andy Murray as Scottish sporting icon becomes investor
The tennis champion will help find purpose-driven founders and businesses that match his values to invest in. Scottish tennis icon Sir Andy Murray is stepping further into the world of business, joining Redrice Ventures as an Associate Partner in a move that could see entrepreneurs pitching their ideas directly to the former Wimbledon champion. The Olympic gold medallist and three-time Grand Slam winner has already made waves in the investment world, having built a portfolio of more than 40 ventures across wellness, technology, hospitality and sport. Now, he's taking on a more hands-on role with the London-based venture capital firm Redrice Ventures, Scottish Daily Express reports. Murray's connection with Redrice dates back to 2018, when he partnered with the firm to co-invest in premium sportswear brand Castore, which is now valued at $1billion. Tom March, founder of Redrice Ventures, shared the news of Murray's appointment on LinkedIn, hailing the move as a reflection of the changing landscape of modern entrepreneurship. 'Proud to share that Andy Murray has joined Redrice Ventures as an associate partner,' he said. 'We've known Andy for a while, we first teamed up back in 2018 when we co-invested in Castore (now valued at $1bn). "It's been great to see how much we align when it comes to backing founders with purpose and building brands that actually mean something.' March praised the tennis star's approach to investment, adding: 'Andy's not just a legend on the court, he's built an impressive 40-plus portfolio of quality investments across wellness, tech, hospitality, and sport. "What stands out is how intentional he is about the businesses he supports, it's never just about the numbers. He's totally committed to leveraging his network to provide support.' He continued: 'This partnership also says something about where the world is heading. Athletes today aren't just athletes. "They're entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, wellness advocates and they're helping shape how people live, work, and think. Wellness isn't a side topic anymore; it's become a cultural filter for how everyday decisions get made. Andy really gets that.' March said Murray would play a key role in the company's current and future funds, and encouraged founders to get in touch. He said: 'For both our current and future Redrice funds, we're so excited to have him involved, not just for his experience, but for what he stands for, and his real drive to back businesses that matter. 'Plenty more to come, watch this space. And if you're building something special at seed or Series A, or just want to hear about our future plans, feel free to reach out.' Murray said his mindset as a professional athlete has helped shape his approach to investment. 'My tennis career taught me the importance of discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking,' he said. 'And for the past few years, I've channelled this mindset into investing, where possible focusing on British businesses that have the potential to create lasting impact and positive change. I've backed over 40 ventures in sectors from technology to fitness, hospitality to wellness. 'As an investor, I'm driven by the same principles that guided my tennis career, the pursuit of excellence, the importance of teamwork, and the belief that success is achieved through smart decisions and long-term vision.'

Andy Murray takes up completely new career after Novak Djokovic split as Brit, 38, makes ‘difficult' decision
ANDY MURRAY has taken up a brand new career after splitting with Novak Djokovic. The British tennis icon, 38, was one of the sport's top stars during his prime. 2 2 Murray won numerous ATP Tour titles during his 19-year career, as well as two Wimbledon trophies and the US Open. The Scot then retired in 2024 after starring for Team GB at the Olympic Games in Paris. And he went on to shock fans by becoming Novak Djokovic's coach at the start of the year. The pair went their separate ways earlier this month after splitting on amicable terms. But Murray has already found a new career for himself in a brand new field. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Murray revealed he is now entering the world of venture capitalism. The ace is taking up a role as an associate partner at London-based investment firm Redrice Ventures. The company has business interests in areas including cat food and reusable water bottles. Murray previously worked with them in 2018 as part of a co-investment involving sportswear company Castore. He already has several business interests including a five-star country house hotel in Scotland, a padel tennis firm and a crowdfunding platform called Seedrs. Moment Andy Murray holes stunning putt from off the green in challenge match with brother Jamie - but rivals have last laugh Reflecting on his new role, Murray said: 'It's difficult to step away from a sport like tennis, which has been so all-consuming for me for so long, and then not have anything to fill that void. 'I've seen it before with other athletes — when they haven't had other interests straight after sport, it becomes hard for them to know who they are. 'I'm also only 38 years old, so that's a long time to be retired. 'My plan was always to spend more time on my other business interests once I'd finished playing tennis, and I'm enjoying starting to work on some of those projects now. 'I think for me it's the work ethic and single-minded determination to succeed.'

Andy Murray and wife Kim's new net worth emerges after losing huge sum in hotel
Andy Murray and wife Kim's new net worth emerges after losing huge sum in hotel The former tennis star features on the new Sunday Times Rich List after retiring from the sport last year Murray has accumulated a huge net worth on and off the court Sir Andy Murray has been named as one of Britain's richest sportspeople in the newly released Sunday Times Rich List 2025.. The former tennis ace - who brought the curtain down on his playing career at last year's Paris Olympics - features in the '40 Under 40' list, which details the wealthiest people in the UK under the age of 40. His staggering net worth of £110 million puts him joint 35th on that list, with his wealth rising by £10 million over the last year. Murray's huge fortune is hardly surprising, having banked close to £52 million in winnings over the course of his playing career, in which he won three major titles as well as two OIympic gold medals. Over the years, he has also signed lucrative endorsement and sponsorship deals with big names like Jaguar, Castore, Under Armour and Head and collaborated with other brands including Amazon Prime Video, Standard Life, and American Express, to give his huge net worth a further boost. However, it is not only through his tennis career that Murray has made his fortune, having worked closely with his wife Kim to make a number of savvy business decisions in recent years. Together, they own the stunning five-star Cromlix House hotel near the tennis star's hometown of Dunblane in Scotland, where they held their wedding reception in 2015 after getting married at the town's cathedral. Article continues below The couple had purchased the hotel two years earlier for a reported sum of £1.8 million, with Murray's brother Jamie also getting married at the venue and his grandparents previously celebrating their wedding anniversaries there. The luxury hotel, which sits in 34 acres of private grounds and woodland, has 10 bedrooms, five suites and a one bedroom lodge, as well as its own private chapel, tennis court, pickleball court and a restaurant run by an award-winning chef. It was built as a Victorian mansion and passed down the generations of the Drummond family, while it was run by a management firm until December 2022, when the Murrays announced they were going to take over the running the venue. The hotel has since undergone extensive refurbishmen to become one of the most sought-after luxury venues in Scotland, with room prices tending to range from between £350 to £950 per night, according to KAYAK. While Murray has been busy wrapping up his tennis career and taking a shock short-term role on Novak Djokovic's coaching team, Kim has been hailed as the "creative force" behind the hotel venture and has taken a very active role in shaping the look and feel of the venue. While she has no formal training in interior design, according to an interview with Country Living magazine, she previously considered enrolling at art college, while she also ran a pet portrait business called Brushes and Paws. 'We'd finished having children and we'd finished building our house, so it seemed the perfect time," she told the publication as she opened up on the challenges of running the hotel. "Having little kids has been all-consuming. "Renovating the hotel has enabled me to come out of motherhood and create something different. I think of it as a family project. Maybe in 15 years, the kids will be interested in it. I want to see where it takes us.' The hotel has since won the AA Hotel of the Year award for Scotland, with Murray paying tribute to his wife for all her hard work in a sweet post on social media. Sharinga photo of Kim with the trophy, the former tennis ace wrote: "At least someone in the family can still win stuff. Congrats to my wife and all the team @cromlixhotel for winning the AA Hotel of the year award for Scotland." However, the venture has not always been smooth sailing, with the hotel making another significant loss over the latest financial year. In March, it was revealed that the venue posted a loss of £369,045 for the year ending March 2024, according to CityAM. However, while it was a substantial loss, it's an improvement on figures for the previous year, when the hotel lost a whopping £919,572. It last made a profit back in 2022, when it was up £416,442 for the year. In terms of other ventures, the couple recently oversaw the launch of the hotel's own brand of gin, made with ingredients found within the grounds of the venue. The pair teamed up with craft gin maker Wildfire Gin to create Cromlix Gin, which includes raspberry leaf and milk thistle from the hotel garden, and is made with water from a borehole in the grounds. Murray is also a shareholder in sportswear company Castore, who supply kits for the likes of Everton and Newcastle United, and has collaborated with them on his own clothing line called AMC. "I'd wanted to set up my own apparel brand for a long time," said the tennis ace, who made Castore his official kit partner in 2019. "I felt there was a clear gap in the market for stylish tennis wear and so, with my team, we identified Castore as a brand that could help me deliver something I felt really proud of. Article continues below "I like the fact that they are a British brand, set up by two brothers, and that sustainability is important to them. I think the most important thing is to be true to who you are. If a brand partnership doesn't feel genuine, people can quite quickly see through that and it just doesn't work."
