Rangers' former kit partners ‘sign deal with historic club' weeks after Ibrox side drop brand from new jerseys
GETTING SHIRTY Rangers' former kit partners 'sign deal with historic club' weeks after Ibrox side drop brand from new jerseys
RANGERS won't have Castore on their shirts from next season.
But the upstart brand is reportedly going to feature on another historic club's jerseys for 2025/26.

Next season's Rangers home top
The Ibrox side are returning to Umbro as kit supplier after five controversial years with Castore.
But it's not quite as simple as that because Castore have acquired Umbro's sub-licence, therefore meaning they are in charge of the distribution of Umbro kits in Europe.
Indeed, Gers quietly extended their deal with Castore in February 2023 for a further seven years.
What is for certain however is that Rangers will not be sporting the Castore logo and instead next season's strips - and potentially more going forward - will bear the Umbro trademarks.
But the Castore brand will be appearing on the tops of Middlesbrough, reports suggest.
According to FootyHeadlines and Boro Buzz, the Championship side will begin a partnership with Castore from the start of next season.
Boro, the 11th oldest club in the EFL, formally announced they would be parting ways with Errea as a kit manufacturer back in March.
The Teesside outfit were one of the founding members of the Premier League and will hope to return their next season after missing out on the play-offs this season.
Boro lost their way in the play-off race around about the same time they lost Scotland wonderkid Ben Doak to injury.
Doak, 19, will return to parent club Liverpool now that his loan deal at the Riverside has epxired.

Boro fans would no doubt love to see him back in North Yorkshire but Everton could make a shock bid to sign him from their Merseyside rivals in the summer.
The former Celtic starlet has also attracted interest from newly-crowned FA Cup champions Crystal Palace.
The newly-unveiled Rangers home kit for 2025/26 divided opinion initially while a leaked and as-yet-to-be-confirmed away top was met with a much poorer response from punters.
Elsewhere, Celtic star Daizen Maeda is reportedly attracting interest from Turkish club Fenerbahce, a move that would see him link up with Jose Mourinho.

Melissa Reddy breaks silence after Sky Sports exit - as she hits out at 'abuse' and reveals her next career move
Melissa Reddy has spoken for the first time since leaving Sky Sports after three years with the broadcaster. Mail Sport first broke the news of Sky's intended redundancy programme earlier this month. It was then revealed on Wednesday morning that Reddy was one of seven high-profile Sky Sports employees to be moved on as the company looks to modernise its coverage. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening, Reddy released a lengthy statement to confirm her departure, while also revealing what she plans to do next. 'ELEVENTH!!! season of Premier League coverage done and I've called time on three years at Sky,' Reddy began. 'I'll still be doing bits and bobs for them but I'm genuinely soooo excited to share all the things I'll be working on soon, which will allow me to focus on my strengths and passions. In a lengthy statement, Reddy hit out at the misogynistic and racist abuse she has received 'For those that have BEEN asking for the past five years YES - that will include new books.' Reddy was born and raised in South Africa before moving over to the UK to cover the Premier League. She has almost two decades of experience behind her in the industry, but has now opened up on the misogynistic and racist 'abuse' she has received over the years, while vowing to never let it bring her down. Reddy's statement continued: 'After the first press conference I covered in England all those years back, a journalist turned to the press officer and said 'why are you letting them come over here and take our jobs. You just want a little lick don't you?!' 'I would love to be able to say that things have changed in that regard, but alas… the abuse as a foreign woman of colour in this sphere never ceases. 'I will always be stronger than the hate; I know who I am, I know the substance of my work. 'You can't dim the light of someone who learned how to shine in the dark. 'The messages I've received from managers, players, club staff, my Sky and wider industry colleagues - people who know me, my journey and sacrifices over the past decade - carry more weight than any of the nasty noise. Let's cook.' Reddy accompanied her post with photos and videos of her Sky highlights, which included interviewing Ruben Amorim, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Arne Slot. Her exit comes just two days after presenter Rob Wotton choked up during his final appearance after 27 years working for Sky Sports News. Presenters Teddy Draper and Jasper Taylor; reporters Jeremy Langdon and Fadumo Olow; and a news editor have also reportedly been cut, according to The Sun.

Emma Raducanu admits she was ‘exposed' in French Open exit
The 22-year-old was one of six British players through to the second round at Roland Garros but her stay was ended in double-quick time, 6-1 6-2, by the four-time champion. It was a meek display from the former US Open champion, who has now lost all five meetings with Swiatek without winning a set. Emma Raducanu is beaten by defending champion Iga Swiatek in the second round at @rolandgarros #BackTheBrits 🇬🇧 | #RolandGarros — LTA (@the_LTA) May 28, 2025 'It was a really difficult match. Iga played really well,' she said. 'Yeah, it was tough. I think in the beginning of the match it was pretty tight. 'As it went on I think she grew in confidence. I just felt a bit exposed. So yeah, it was a difficult one.' The most recent of those defeats by Swiatek was still fresh in the memory, a 6-1 6-0 pasting at the Australian Open earlier this year. Swiatek is nicknamed the 'Queen of Clay' and is unbeaten at the tournament since 2021 but she has not reached a final since Paris last year and has slipped to number five in the world. So there were at least some small reasons for optimism for Raducanu, who let out a shriek of relief when she held her opening service game. Iga Swiatek has won her last 23 matches at Roland Garros (Christophe Ena/AP) But her next service game was tame, giving Swiatek – who was hardly playing lights-out tennis herself – an easy break. Raducanu made a horrible mess of an overhead to gift Swiatek a 5-1 lead and the 23-year-old clinched the set with an ace. The British number two held at the start of the second – at least getting that Melbourne monkey off her back – but Swiatek had by now found her range and a flurry of winners subsequently secured a break to love. There were fleeting moments of hope but three break points came and went and Raducanu's error count began to climb steadily. Swiatek broke again for 5-2 and a flashing winner – her 31st of the contest – wrapped up a comprehensive win in just an hour and 19 minutes and illustrated the gulf in class between Raducanu and the top echelons of the sport. 'I think every time we have played she plays really well,' Raducanu added. 'It kind of puts really a lot of pressure on from the beginning, makes me feel like I have to maybe do something extra or I just don't know what to do in the moment. 'I think it does, shift the dynamics of the match a bit, and then it's very difficult to kind of stay with her as she grows in confidence. 'But, yeah, it just shows, I guess, the distance that I have to improve.'

Steven Gerrard branded 'obvious choice' by major Rangers shareholder
The major shareholder reckons the Liverpool legend has "unfinished business" at Ibrox and should be under consideration to take over this summer. He told The Rangers Review: 'I'd be very surprised if they haven't spoken to him because Steven is the obvious choice. 'I think I know him well enough to fairly accurately state it would be unfinished business for him. 'Steven left at a time he didn't want to leave. That's a fact. And the team was still top of the league at the time that he left. He wanted to defend that title. I think he would have defended the title had he stayed. 'So from Steven's personal point of view and where he is at the moment, I think he'd love nothing more than to come back to the club and take on the challenge of restoring the club. And it's not just about one title because the project that we hope we're starting now is a project to make Rangers the dominant number one team in Scotland. 'It's not about winning another league title. It's about really putting Rangers back at the top. This is a project. It's not a one-off. And I think Steven would be perfect for that. 'So I'd be very surprised if they haven't spoken to Steven because he's, as I say, he's by far the least risky candidate to give new money to, by far the least risky candidate.' Read more: King was heavily involved in bringing Gerrad to Rangers back in 2018 and reckons he is the "outstanding choice" for the job again. Russell Martin and Davide Ancelotti have also been linked with the vacant post at Ibrox. However, King is keen to see Gerrard back at the helm at Ibrox with the Liverpool hero currently out of the dugout after leaving Al Ettifaq. He added: 'Steven would be by far the outstanding choice if any contractual issues could be sorted out. 'With Steven there's other things that have to be negotiated. I think he's having his first granddaughter, but Glasgow's not that far from Liverpool. If he was in Dubai, I think that would be different. 'He still has his contract, so I think there will still be issues to deal with. I don't know what the situation was when he left Saudi. But I think by far the least risky option is bringing Steven in if they could get that across the line."
