But the high-end eatery has now closed its doors, with the couple pulling the plug on the pricey passion project. Copy link Copied By Rodrygo latest Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal during the summer window. The Reds have turned their attention to the Brazilian after their huge £120million bid for Alexander Isak was rejected on Friday. Arne Slot is keen to bolster his forward line following the recent departure of Luiz Diaz. According to ESPN Brazil, Liverpool have made contact with Rodrygo's representatives ahead of making an official offer. Copy link Copied By Bees to tempt Arsenal Brentford have made a shock move for Arsenal ace Leandro Trossard as they eye a summer swoop, FootballTransfers reports. The 30-year-old Belgian has been a handy option for Mikel Arteta but could be on the way out with Brentford lining him up to replace Yoane Wissa. Wissa is pushing for a move to Champions League-bound Newcastle, and the Bees are ready to offer Trossard a tempting three-year deal. Copy link Copied By Newcastle announce former Arsenal star Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton on a season-long loan. The Magpies will pay a £4million loan fee for the keeper, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer. Copy link Copied By Real Madrid to name conditions for Arsenal target Real Madrid have set out two conditions for letting Rodrygo leave amid interest from Liverpool. The Brazilian forward has been linked with a move throughout the summer and saw limited action during the club's Club World Cup run. Now, COPE reports that new head coach Xavi Alonso has decided Rodrygo can be sold—but only under specific terms. First, Rodrygo would have to request a move himself. If he does, Madrid will set their asking price at €100million (£87.3m). With Liverpool among the clubs reportedly interested, the 22-year-old's future remains uncertain as the transfer window progresses. Copy link Copied By Details of Eze's release clause revealed Eberechi Eze's £68million release clause at Crystal Palace is set to expire on August 15, according to The Standard Sport. Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation, with ongoing interest in the talented midfielder. While Eze is said to be content at Palace, he is reportedly open to a move to the Emirates should the opportunity arise. The Gunners are aware of the deadline and may be looking to act quickly but sources suggest that they might need to free up space in their squad by offloading players before making a move for the England international. Copy link Copied By Ex-Arsenal star looking to make an impact at Newcastle Aaron Ramsdale is set to make an instant impact at Newcastle, much like one Arsenal star did when he first joined. talkSPORT is reporting that the former Gunners goalkeeper is poised to complete a season-long loan move to St James' Park from Southampton. Ramsdale will be eager to prove himself at Newcastle, and his arrival is sure to add competition in the Magpies' goalkeeper ranks. Copy link Copied By Viktor Gyokeres makes instant impact at Arsenal Viktor Gyokeres has wasted no time making an impact at Arsenal, with one word from the club already speaking volumes about his future. The Gunners secured the Swedish forward in a £55 million deal from Sporting CP, agreeing to a significant up-front payment to seal the transfer. After completing the move, Gyokeres quickly jetted off to Asia to join his new teammates on their pre-season tour, eager to hit the ground running. The 25-year-old's arrival has got fans buzzing, and it's clear Arsenal are hoping he can make an immediate impact as they target silverware this season. Copy link Copied By Norgaard backed by Spurs boss Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has backed Christian Norgaard to make an impact at Arsenal, having worked with the Danish midfielder at both Brentford and Brondby. Reflecting on Norgaard's move to Arsenal , Frank admitted, "It was a little emotional. I've known him since he was 15. He's 31 now, and I've been training him for 12 years, so I've known him for a long time. "This is the first time I've faced him as an opponent. He played over 300 games for me, so it was strange seeing him on the other side. "He's a top player and I can understand why Arsenal went for him. I'm so happy that he got this great opportunity late in his career." Copy link Copied By Arsenal warned Eze deal could be complicated Arsenal have been warned that Liverpool's pursuit of Marc Guehi could throw a spanner in the works of their plans to sign Eberechi Eze, according to The Mirror. The Gunners are expected to move for Eze once some players depart, with the England international reportedly keen on a switch to north London. However, Liverpool's interest in Guehi, Eze's teammate at Crystal Palace, could complicate matters. Palace are reluctant to let two key players leave in the same window, though Liverpool are currently focused on securing Newcastle's Alexander Isak. Copy link Copied By Arsenal keeping tabs on Real Madrid star Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs keeping tabs on Real Madrid's Brahim Diaz, according to Football Espana. The Spanish outlet claims Madrid are open to selling Diaz this summer, with new boss Xabi Alonso telling the 24-year-old he'd have a "secondary role" if he stays at the Bernabeu. Arsenal, AC Milan, and Fenerbahce are all said to be weighing up moves, while Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Neom SC are reportedly ready to offer around €40m (£35m) for the winger. Copy link Copied By Arsenal still keen on Eze Arsenal's interest in Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze remains strong as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The 25-year-old's creativity and versatility have caught the attention of Mikel Arteta who sees him as a potential key addition to the squad. Although Palace are keen to keep him, the lure of Champions League football could tempt Eze to move. Arsenal have reportedly held exploratory talks and are bidding their time to get the deal done. Copy link Copied By Tross-ing paths Leandro Trossard could be used as a makeweight in a deal to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The Gunners are willing to part company with the Belgian's services if they receive a suitable offer. And according to Football Transfers, Palace have earmarked Trossard as a potential replacement for Eze. Copy link Copied By Gyokeres getting shirty Viktor Gyokeres wants to forge his own legacy in the No.14 shirt, which was worn by Gunners legend Thierry Henry. He said: 'It's not really my intention to be compared with what he's achieved in his career. Especially here. 'I just want to do my own thing and show my qualities. Of course [Henry] was an amazing player, but different from me. I just want to try to do my own thing. 'Of course, I know about the history. But to be honest, there weren't so many numbers available. There weren't too many to pick from. But of course that one was available. 'So when I knew that, it was an easy choice to take it.' Copy link Copied By Fixture list In case you've been hiding under a rock for the last month, here are the Gunners' full fixture list for the upcoming Premier League season. Copy link Copied By Bra-him in Mikel Arteta is reportedly monitoring Brahim Diaz's situation with Real Madrid. New Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso has reportedly told Diaz – who is on the radar of several clubs in Saudi Arabia – that he'll play a secondary role this season. And according to Football Espana, Arteta is closely monitoring the situation of the £36million-rated Diaz. Copy link Copied By Arsenal's next match The Gunners will be determined to put their pre-season defeat to bitter North London rivals Tottenham behind them. Sarr scored a screamer from the half-way line which earned Spurs the win in Hong Kong. And it put a dampener on Viktor Gyokeres' long-awaited debut in an Arsenal shirt. However, the Swedish striker will have the chance to get himself on the scoresheet on Wednesday when the Gunners welcome Spanish giants Villarreal to the Emirates. Copy link Copied By Not holding on Rob Holding has been released by Crystal Palace after making just one appearance for the London side. The 29-year-old joined the Eagles from Arsenal for £4million in September 2023 but struggled to break into the squad. Now, having made just one first team appearance, he finds himself without a club. A statement from Crystal Palace announcing his departure read: "Crystal Palace F.C. can confirm that Rob Holding has left the club. "Holding joined Palace in September 2023 from fellow Premier League side Arsenal. "The defender spent the latter half of last season on loan at Sheffield United, where he played 12 times. "The club wishes Rob well for his future career." Copy link Copied By Eze 'keen' on Emirates move Eberechi is eager to up sticks from Selhurst Park and move to the Emirates, it's been claimed. Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel: 'I'm told that the negotiation club to club has not started yet. But sources at Crystal Palace expect Arsenal to arrive for Eze. 'Why? Because Arsenal have been in contact for months now with the agents of Eze, because Eze is very appreciated by Arsenal, because Arsenal still want to add the player if they will have the opportunity to. 'They spoke to the player several times and the player is also very keen on a move. So Palace expect Arsenal to arrive.' Copy link Copied By Merino talks Spurs loss Mikel Merino reckons Arsenal's loss to Spurs can be used as a catalyst for a solid start to the new Premier League season. The Spain international said: "Obviously, winning is a priority for us, but in pre-season, there are other things that have a lot of value, like getting fit, keeping that connection with the fans here in this amazing city. "We adapted quickly to the pitch, to the opponent, I think we dominated most of the game. "The result is obviously the worst part, but we have to take the positives. "Obviously, this feeling is going to be the gasoline for the season to keep growing, keep learning and hopefully go upwards." Copy link Copied By Arteta praises Dowman Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Max Dowman for his displays during pre-season. He said: "I'm not surprised, he's been really impressive with what he's done again at his age, the way he has entered the matches and with that determination, that quality, that decisiveness I would say. "The same with the other kids that played, so it was another exposure to them, which is not easy, especially at that age. "They certainly have done so, so well and made a lot of people proud." Copy link Copied By Eze 'keen' on Emirates move Eberechi is eager to up sticks from Selhurst Park and move to the Emirates, it's been claimed. Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel: 'I'm told that the negotiation club to club has not started yet. But sources at Crystal Palace expect Arsenal to arrive for Eze. 'Why? 'They spoke to the player several times and the player is also very keen on a move. So Palace expect Arsenal to arrive.' Copy link Copied By Arteta talks pre-season friendlies I'm very pleased with what I've seen in most of the things that we've done but we missed something you know in certain moments, that preciseness, that moment that unlocks the result and the moment to turn the result away and win the match but in terms of attitude, the desire, level of organisation in the team, it was great and we have to continue to elevate a little bit all the individual aspects." Mikel Arteta Copy link Copied By Arteta happy with squad Mikel Arteta is seemingly content with his squad following the six additions he's made this summer. After Thursday's 1-0 defeat to Spurs, the Spaniard said: "I'm very positive, everything that I've seen in the last 10 days gives me a lot of encouragement and we're ahead of what I was expecting in many areas. "Even though tonight's result gives you a taste, I think that is going to be very positive as well. "To realise the margins that winning or not winning have to be controlled as well and again, we go again. "We'll start on Monday again with two great games at the Emirates to finalise the preparation and be ready for Old Trafford. Copy link Copied By Gyokeres talks Emirates move Gunners newboy Viktor Gyokeres has refused to blame Sporting Lisbon after breaking his silence on his move from the Portuguese giants to join Arsenal. He said: 'Of course, I've had my ups and downs, but above all, the last month has been quite difficult. 'There's been a lot of talk on social media about what happened or didn't happen, but people don't really know the full story. 'It was difficult, but I also know it made me stronger.' Eddie Howe bursts out laughing over Celtic claim as Newcastle boss sees funny side of pasting

The Scottish champions thumped the Premier League outfit as the Hoops ramped up their pre-season plans Boss Eddie Howe couldn't help but laugh as he insisted Newcastle United put in a good performance against Celtic - minus the four goals they conceded. ‌ Brendan Rodgers saw his side thump the Premier League side thanks to Arne Engels penalty and goals from Johnny Kenny, Yang and Liam Scales. ‌ But after the full-time whistle, the Newcastle boss attempted to search for the positives from a lacklustre afternoon for his Champions League-bound side at Celtic Park. ‌ He said: "We take a load from that. That was a really good test for us. I think the pre-season is designed to really test us. "We know we've got a very challenging season ahead with all the competitions that we are in. "This was a test that, maybe, came a little bit too early for us. We have had a long week in Austria, not making excuses by the way, but the lads came into the game jaded, slightly, but it was a great workout for us. ‌ "I think Celtic played very well. I thought we played well in phases of the game. I thought we created a lot of chances and should have scored a couple of goals. Overall, I think we will be better for the game. Pressed on if the difference in the club stage of pre-season showed - with Newcastle's trip to Glasgow only their second friendly clash- Howe continued: "Yeah, it did, naturally. "I think they are way ahead of us, fitness wise. I think that's a really useful lesson for us to learn because we usually do that to other teams. ‌ "The power of our fitness usually shows through in our performances. Today, it was the other way around. "You could tell we were on the receiving end a little bit. We were reactive rather than proactive and that cost us. I think the goals we conceded, naturally, were the poorest aspects of our performance, because other than that..." ‌ Howe then laughed: "Other than four wasn't a game when we were consistently under pressure. We more than held our own. We obviously just defended those moments poorly." Eddie Howe had picked an experienced Newcastle side with five 30-somethings in their starting line-up and £55m Anthony Elanga on the bench. Joelinton was nowhere to be seen as he recovers from a knee injury while Alexander Isak was also absent as he battles back from a groin issue. Toon boss Howe came close to being named the Celtic manager four years ago but an issue regarding recruiting his backroom team saw the approach crumble. For his Champions League-bound side, their first public outing of the season was a long way from the start Howe had envisioned. Their 10,000-strong travelling support was initially raucous - but they were numerically diminished and very subdued by time-up. They'd beaten Carlisle 4-0 in a training HQ closed-door friendly last week but after a bright start, their defensive rustiness was ruthlessly punished by Celtic. They now head for a Far East tour where they'll face Arsenal, a K League select and Spurs. Celtic started with Kasper Schmeichel in goal, a back four of Tony Ralston, Dane Murray, Auston Trusty and Hayato Inamura. Callum McGregor was joined in midfield by Luke McCowan and Engels, with Yang and Daizen Maeda either side of Kenny up front. Fabian Schar got an early taste of the relentless nature of one Celtic favourite. He seemed to have done the hard work when he turned inside with the ball as Maeda slid past him in an effort to block. Celtic star Daizen Maeda spotted doing press-ups in technical area after being subbed-off against Sporting Lisbon But the Swiss took a fatal touch as he looked forward and found his pass blocked by the Japanese who'd sprung to his feet and raced back into action. The veteran United defender threw up his arms in exasperation. He was in similar bother moments later when he almost gifted Celtic the lead. The alert Maeda robbed skipper Bruno Guimaraes in midfield and from Yang's cross, Schar deflected the ball towards his own goal - and was grateful to Nick Pope who clawed the ball away for a corner. But home keeper Schmeichel was also in action as a bright United side forced the pace, touching William Osula's deflected drive over the top. The Toon Army were creating a terrific atmosphere but they were subdued for practically the first time after 26 minutes when Celtic went in front. Inevitably Maeda was involved, stretching the visiting defence and getting wide of Kieran Trippier. His low cross looked destined for Engels who was tripped going for it by Joe Willock. Nick Walsh pointed to the spot and Engels rattled in the penalty. 6 A limp header by Jacob Murphy into Schmeichel's arms was all United offered by way of immediate response. Celtic should have doubled their lead when Yang cut open the visiting defence and seemed to have left Johnny Kenny with a tap-in - but he made a poor contact with the cross and the opportunity was gone. But the home side sent their fans in at the interval after a catastrophic blunder by Pope presented Kenny with the easiest goal he'll ever score. Schmeichel's kick-out should've been straightforward for the keeper as he came out of his box, but he misjudged the bounce as he attempted to head clear. It sailed over him and Kenny was left to convert the simplest of tap-ins. United made nine changes at the break, with Elanga and Anthony Gordon among the arrivals. One of them, Alex Murphy, immediately powered down the left and his cross was met by Osula - whose effort was brilliantly blocked at point-blank range by Schmeichel. The Toon changes were still taking shape when the visitors fell further behind. 6 Full-back Emil Krafth was left one-on-one with Maeda with the inevitable consequences. He cut inside and rolled the ball across for Yang to finish easily. Kieran Tierney got the expected rousing reception when he made his Celtic Park return as a sub after 55 minutes, replacing Inamura, who had looked composed at left-back. Five minutes later, Rodgers replaced the remaining ten players, with new arrival Benjamin Nygren on as well as youngsters Ben McPherson and Colby Donovan. Nygren was immediately involved, touching the ball on for Adam Idah, who poked his effort narrowly wide of Martin Dubravka's post. Newcastle might have been reduced to ten men when Dan Burn felled Idah in a last-man challenge. Nick Walsh opted for yellow, to the disappointment of the home support. Scotland under-21 defender McPherson's cross set up Idah for a header over the top then Reo Hatate's drive was saved. But Newcastle were looking weary and it was no surprise when Celtic added a fourth after 75 minutes. Tierney's cross was bulleted into the top corner by Scales to round off a highly satisfactory display for Brendan Rodgers. Rangers ready to crank up efforts to land key transfer target after signing rivals see offer kicked out by his club

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS are ready to crank up their efforts to sign Brazilian midfielder Metinho. The Gers are on the 22-year-old's trail along with Basel after he produced a series of outstanding performances for the Swiss champions on loan from Troyes last season. 2 Metinho is a target for Rangers Credit: Alamy 2 The midfielder is also wanted by Basel, where he impressed on loan last season Credit: Alamy Champions League-bound Basel have already had one bid booted out by the French club, leaving the door open for Rangers to now swoop. And Troyes expect the battle to land him to hot up in the coming days. New Ibrox owners 49ers Enterprises picked Metinho out as a player they wanted to invest in before formally taking over earlier this month. And now they're ready to enter the chase in the hope of getting a deal done before Russell Martin's side play Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifiers on July 22. Troyes are willing to do business for Metinho, who signed for them from Fluminense for £4million in 2021. The midfielder has spent the last three seasons out on loan, twice in Holland with Lommel and Sparta Rotterdam, before moving to Switzerland in January. It was at Basel he really flourished and they are desperate to get a deal done to keep him on a permanent basis. But Rangers have long had him marked out as a summer target so hope to get a deal over the line ahead of them. Metinho's style of play has seen him nicknamed 'the Brazilian Paul Pogba' in some quarters. Gers boss Martin is also closing in on Leicester defender Conor Coady but have missed out to QPR for Peterborough's Kwame Poku. Sir Sean Connery's secret £1 MILLION investment in Rangers revealed Former Dundee defender Owen Beck is on their radar from Liverpool, along with striker Dor Turgeman from Maccabi Tel Aviv. There will also likely be outgoings in the coming weeks, with AEK Athens bidding to sign Cyriel Dessers while French side Lille want Hamza Igamane. Meanwhile, Jose Cifuentes looks set to return to Rangers. The midfielder spent last season in Greece with Aris Thessaloniki and impressed. But Aris failed to take up their option to sign him and the midfielder has now bid an emotional farewell to the club. Cifuentes, 26, only made nine league appearances for the Gers after joining in August 2023. He was sent on loan to Cruzeiro in Brazil the following February before heading to Greece last summer. 🚨 Chelsea complete the signing of Ipswich star Liam Delap

Champions League-bound Chelsea have begun their planned summer shopping spree in earnest after officially completing the £30m signing of Ipswich star Liam Delap. Delap, 22, was the standout performer for the Tractor Boys across the ill-fated 2024/25 Premier League campaign, and despite dropping back down to the Championship, the England youth international impressed the big boys to the tune of 12 goals; 33% of Ipswich's total number across the season. Despite a number of attacking assets at Stamford Bridge, including Senegalese international Nicholas Jackson, Blues boss Enzo Maresca now added further depth of quality in west London ahead of their return to Europe's premier club competition. Advertisement Delap will now once again team up with fellow Manchester City academy product Cole Palmer in what could become an impressive attacking duo down the line. 📸 Gareth Copley - 2025 Getty Images
