Chiefs summer scouting: Texas A&M Aggies offensive line
The Kansas City Chiefs turned over two positions along their offensive line this summer and could explore more changes next spring depending on the performances of Jawaan Taylor and Kingsley Suamataia. Fans should closely monitor the Texas A&M Aggies offensive line for potential Chiefs targets in the 2026 NFL draft. Four of Texas A&M's starting offensive linemen possess NFL talent. Unlike Clemson's defensive front, the Aggies don't have any future first round selections in the trenches. However, the collection of fourth through sixth round prospects makes the unit one of college football's most talented fronts. Advertisement The four Aggies eyeing NFL futures include left guard Chase Bisontis, right tackle Dametrious Crownover, right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams and left tackle Trey Zuhn III. Backup right tackle Reuben Fatheree II, who previously lost his starting role to Crownover, also has the potential to attract attention from the NFL. Bisontis is a quick guard with exceptional range in the run game. He's at his best on the move due to his unique mobility, speed and understanding of angles when operating in space. Bisontis is an aggressive blocker who seeks pancake opportunities, but he ended up on the wrong end of some clashes in 2024 against powerful opponents like Vernon Broughton, Alfred Collins and Cam'Ron Jackson. Reed-Adams meets all of the league's size requirements and overwhelms undersized defensive tackles. His broad frame and NFL-caliber power make him an imposing interior presence capable of anchoring against power rushers or torquing defenders out of gaps. His core and grip strength jump off the tape. However, Reed-Adams' agility and lack of suddenness make it easier for twitchy interior rushers to capture his outside shoulder. His mental processing speed must improve to negate some of his athletic limitations. Reed-Adams' impact in the run game is inconsistent because of concerns with his balance, pad level and range. Advertisement Crownover is a hulking offensive lineman with a prototypical frame for an NFL tackle. When he engages his hands early in plays, Crownover uses his sheer size and power to overwhelm smaller edge rushers. Many pass rushers fail to threaten his anchor with power or escape his reach with explosiveness. Crownover's size is a double-edged sword. He plays with a high pad level and mediocre foot speed that limit his range and leverage. His hand usage leaves plenty to be desired. Crownover's lack of ideal athletic traits and poor leverage limit his ceiling. Zuhn is a beloved leader who served as a team captain in 2024. He's a quick processor and high IQ prospect with polished hand usage that makes up for some of the issues with his arm length. Zuhn frames blocks well and quickly refits his hands to maintain leverage. Unfortunately, his poor foot speed, average anchor and forward lean in his pass set suggest he should transition to playing guard in the NFL. Texas A&M Announces Major Changes After NCAA Settlement
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Texas A&M University is cutting its athletics department budget by nearly $10 million in response to the House Vs. National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) settlement that allows colleges to pay student athletes who represent them, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Newsweek contacted Texas A&M University for comment on Tuesday via email outside of regular office hours. Why It Matters College sports, particularly football and basketball, can generate hundreds of millions of dollars, yet historically, the student-athletes weren't paid beyond their scholarships. However, this was challenged by ex-Arizona collegiate swimmer Grant House in 2020, and on June 6, a federal judge approved a settlement, allowing NCAA Division I schools to directly pay their student athletes for the first time. What To Know On Monday, A&M's athletic director, Trev Alberts, told reporters he plans to cut staff and other spending in response to the House v. NCAA settlement, which requires each university to pay its student athletes $20.5 million drawn from revenue-sharing agreements. The settlement was agreed upon provisionally in May 2024 before being signed off by a judge last month. A fact sheet presented by Albert indicates a combination of cuts and projected revenue increases should boost the department's coffers by around $26.5 million. The athletics director indicates $4 million will be saved by cuts to the number of administrative employees, $2 million from cuts to sports teams, around $1 million from reduced spending related to the number of student athletes and $1.8 million from cuts to the Alston Awards, which is funding student athletes can spend on their studies. Tim Warner/GETTY The fact sheet also suggested a cut will be made to funding for the 12th Man Foundation, which pays for "scholarships, programs and facilities" for A&M athletes. According to the Austin American-Statesman, Alberts said his department is currently "a little heavy" in terms of executive staffing, suggesting there will be cuts in this area. Alberts said football is A&M's only net revenue-producing sport, though the money for student athletes will also be spread across men's and women's basketball, baseball, volleyball, and softball. In April 2024, the Texas A&M athletics department reduced its workforce by 18. Earlier this year, the NCAA updated its policy on transgender athletes, limiting competition in women's sports to those who were born biologically female, following an executive order signed by President Trump. What People Are Saying Speaking on Monday, Alberts said: "This [settlement] has to work for the future of college athletics. "It's worth saying, you know, an unregulated market that we've lived in the last three to four years is not in the best interest of anybody, including the student-athletes." Referring to players' name, image and likeness (NIL) agreements, Alberts added: "We're going to have (a) best-in-class, fair-market value, NIL strategy. "It's where I think Texas A&M has a great strategic advantage... bringing all of our combined assets together to create the best fair-market value NIL strategy for all of our student athletes, [that] should be a separator for us." What Happens Next It remains to be seen how having paid student-athletes will transform NCAA Division I competitions going forward.

14 College Football 26 Texas A&M player ratings revealed ahead of July 10 release
EA Sports' College Football 26 is set to release on July 10, but a trend that has emerged in the age of social media is that leaks often occur before official releases. In the College Football Franchise, player ratings are crucial in determining a team's virtual success. Texas A&M's 2025 roster is filled with talent and experience, led by an offensive line that features all five returning starters from the 2024 campaign, led by left tackle Trey Zuhn, left guard Chase Bisontis, and right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams, who is reportedly the highest rated player on the team in College Football 26, according to the latest ratings leak. Thanks to Jaxson Callaway of AggiesToday, 14 of Texas A&M's highest-ranked players' ratings were revealed, and to no surprise, Reed-Adams, new wide receiver KC Concepcion, linebacker Taurean York, and running back Le'Veon Moss are the three highest-rated players on the team. For the Aggies to be successful in 2025, the run game needs the O-line to block at an elite level, while Concepcion and York will likely lead the team in several categories. Here are the 14 highest-rated Texas A&M players in College Football 2026 Starting quarterback Marcel Reed's 85 rating is respectable given his potential and need to improve in the pocket. At the same time, former Iowa State defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim could end up being Texas A&M's best Run defender and interior pass rusher after three successful seasons in Ames.
