Practice yoga daily
Kurnool: Cluster University Registrar Dr Katta Venkateswarlu said that everyone should start practicing yoga daily to become completely healthy. He urged all to make the International Yoga Day a big success. On Wednesday, he planted saplings in the college premises as part of Yogandhra programme at Cluster University Government Men's Degree College. College Principal Dr Indira Shanti said that irrespective of age everyone can practice yoga, which brings change in their lives. Silver Jubilee Government Degree College Principal Dr G Srinivas, KVR Government Degree College Principal Dr K Venkat Reddy, vice-principals and staff participated in the programme.

Operation Sindoor: Schools, colleges in several districts along India-Pakistan border remained closed today
Several educational institutions in districts along the national border in Jammu, Punjab and Rajasthan remained closed on Wednesday in the wake of tensions following India's strikes at nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under 'Operation Sindoor'. In Jammu division, officials notified that institutes in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts remained closed. 'In view of the prevailing situation, all schools, colleges and educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch will remain closed today,' Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said on X earlier in the day. Authorities also ordered the closure of educational institutions in the border districts of Baramulla and Kupwara in Kashmir. Institutions in Bandipora district's Gurez also remained closed. The Kashmir University postponed all examinations scheduled for the day. Fresh dates for these examinations will be notified separately, a university spokesperson said. Cluster University also postponed all examinations scheduled for the day. Some schools around the Srinagar airport were also closed as a precautionary measure, officials said. In Punjab, all schools in the border districts of Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, and Gurdaspur were shut on Wednesday, and officials said that in Pathankot, schools will remain closed for the next 72 hours. In Rajasthan, schools were closed in the four border districts of Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer as a precaution. In response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor early on Wednesday, conducting missile strikes at nine sites, including the bases of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Toiba. Official sources said that at least 10 civilians were killed and 40 were injured, mostly in Jammu's Poonch sector, as Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling across the Line of Control in response to Operation Sindoor. A large number of houses were damaged or caught fire in the cross-border shelling, forcing hundreds of residents to flee to safer areas.

NEET exam held smoothly in Kurnool
Kurnool: The NEET UG examination was conducted smoothly and peacefully across Kurnool district, with a commendable 98.10% of registered candidates appearing for the test, informed District Collector P Ranjith Basha. On Sunday, the Collector inspected the conduct of the examination at Silver Jubilee College and Cluster University centres in the city. Speaking to the media after the inspection, the Collector said that the NEET UG examination was organised at 16 centres across Kurnool city. Out of a total of 4,466 registered candidates, 4,381 students appeared for the exam while 85 candidates were absent. The overall attendance stood at an impressive 98.10%. The District Collector further stated that the examination was held in a calm and orderly manner at all centres without any untoward incidents, ensuring a smooth experience for the candidates. While in Nandyal, NEET 2025 was conducted smoothly and without any untoward incidents across Nandyal district on Sunday, according to a statement issued by District Collector G Raja Kumari. The exam was held from 2 pm to 5 pm, with candidates allowed entry into the exam centres starting from 11 am. All students underwent thorough screening before being permitted inside the centres to ensure a fair and orderly conduct of the examination. A total of four examination centres were set up across the district. Out of 1,176 registered candidates, 1,144 appeared for the exam, while 32 were absent. At the Government Degree College centre in Nandyal town, 351 out of 360 candidates appeared. At the Government Girls High School near the bus stand, 211 out of 216 candidates were present. The Tekke Government Junior College centre saw 351 out of 360 candidates in attendance, while at the Government Polytechnic College centre, 231 out of 240 candidates appeared — recording an attendance rate of 97.27 per cent across all centres. Collector Raja Kumari expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the examination and appreciated the efforts of the officials and staff in ensuring a hassle-free experience for the candidates.

Cluster University conducting free coaching classes for PGCET and other competitive examinations
The Cluster University is conducting free coaching classes to those who completed degree third year and are preparing for PGCET and other competitive examinations. Students who completed third year from the government degree colleges under the Cluster University can attend the classes. Inaugurating the coaching classes on Friday, Cluster University Principal M. Indira Shanti said experienced teachers will teach the students and urged the students to utilise the opportunity and secure good ranks in PGCET. The career guidance cell and the IQAC Committee of the university will conduct the classes for five days from morning to evening.
