MG Motor India leans on EVs, 70% of current revenue from new‑energy vehicles

MG Motor India is doubling down on its electric vehicle strategy. Over 70% of its revenue and sales now come from new‑energy vehicles, making EVs the backbone of its business, said Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India Ltd. 'This is not incremental, it's transformational for us,' he added, highlighting the central role of EVs in MG's future. Currently, MG India offers four electric models: the MG ZS EV , Comet EV , Windsor EV and the Windsor Pro EV . The company sold 30,162 EVs during FY 2025, growing nearly 158% year‑on‑year, and capturing a 28% share of India's electric vehicle market, up from 13% the previous year In June 2025 alone, MG delivered 3,945 EVs, commanding a 30% share of that month's EV sales and contributing to a combined 53% share (with Mahindra) of India's EV market. The recent launch of the Windsor EV marketed as India's first intelligent CUV with Battery‑as‑a‑Service (BaaS) pricing has fueled this surge crossing the 20,000‑unit sales milestone within six months of launch, making it the fastest‑moving EV in MG's history . Building on that success, MG has now introduced the Cyberster , its electric sports roadster for the Indian market priced at ₹72.49 lakh (ex‑showroom) for early bookings and ₹74.99 lakh for regular customers. The Cyberster will be retailed through MG's luxury sub‑brand MG Select, joining the MG M9 MPV, which launched at ₹69.9 lakh ex‑showroom. Mehrotra described Cyberster as a defining model for MG's electrified ambitions. 'This isn't just our fastest car, it's emblematic of how EVs are anchoring our brand's evolution into premium mobility in India.' With EVs now contributing more than two‑thirds of its volumes and new premium launches on the way, MG is clearly positioning itself not merely as an EV maker, but as an aspirational electric‐mobility brand in India.

MG Comet EV Prices Hiked In India; Here's What It Costs Now

JSW MG Motor India has hiked the prices of the Comet EV for the second time in the Indian market. Talking about the quantum of revision, the prices of the electric vehicle have gone up by up to Rs 15,000, depending on the variant. This follows the previous price hike applied by the brand on the model in May 2025. With the changes in place, the prices of the battery rental through the brand's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program will also be affected. Alongside the hike in ex-showroom prices, MG has increased the BaaS subscription fee from Rs 2.90 per km to Rs 3.10 per km. Although the increment may appear minor, with an additional Rs 200 for every 1,000 km, it could accumulate significantly over time for frequent users. Hence, it will have a direct impact on the running cost of the electric vehicle. Despite the price hike, there has not been a single addition or alteration to the feature list of the Comet EV. It still features dual 10.25-inch displays with one functioning as an instrument cluster and the other as an infotainment system, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The list also includes elements like A 4-speaker audio system, manual AC, electrically foldable ORVMs, power windows, and keyless entry with push-button start. The charge from the battery is transferred to an electric motor, producing 42 hp of power and 110 Nm of peak torque. Once drained, the battery can be charged using 3.3kW from 0 to 80 per cent in 5.5 hours, while getting it to 100 per cent takes 7 hours.
