MG Motor India leans on EVs, 70% of current revenue from new‑energy vehicles

MG Motor India
is doubling down on its electric vehicle strategy. Over 70% of its revenue and sales now come from new‑energy vehicles, making EVs the backbone of its business, said Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India Ltd. 'This is not incremental, it's transformational for us,' he added, highlighting the central role of EVs in MG's future.
Currently, MG India offers four electric models: the
MG ZS EV
,
Comet EV
,
Windsor EV
and the
Windsor Pro EV
.
The company sold 30,162 EVs during FY 2025, growing nearly 158% year‑on‑year, and capturing a 28% share of India's electric vehicle market, up from 13% the previous year
In June 2025 alone, MG delivered 3,945 EVs, commanding a 30% share of that month's EV sales and contributing to a combined 53% share (with Mahindra) of India's EV market.
The recent launch of the Windsor EV marketed as India's first intelligent CUV with Battery‑as‑a‑Service (BaaS) pricing has fueled this surge crossing the 20,000‑unit sales milestone within six months of launch, making it the fastest‑moving EV in MG's history .
Building on that success, MG has now introduced the
Cyberster
, its electric sports roadster for the Indian market priced at ₹72.49 lakh (ex‑showroom) for early bookings and ₹74.99 lakh for regular customers. The Cyberster will be retailed through MG's luxury sub‑brand MG Select, joining the MG M9 MPV, which launched at ₹69.9 lakh ex‑showroom.
Mehrotra described Cyberster as a defining model for MG's electrified ambitions. 'This isn't just our fastest car, it's emblematic of how EVs are anchoring our brand's evolution into premium mobility in India.'
With EVs now contributing more than two‑thirds of its volumes and new premium launches on the way, MG is clearly positioning itself not merely as an EV maker, but as an aspirational electric‐mobility brand in India.

MG introduces limited period discounts on Hector and Astor, prices start at ₹9.99 lakh

To celebrate six years of operations in the country, JSW MG Motor has launched special anniversary prices for some variants of the Hector and Astor SUVs. Limited-period price cuts, along with additional financial convenience like 100 per cent on-road funding and EMI holiday choices, are being offered by the company to draw in new customers during the festive period. The MG Hector Sharp Pro MT, one of the higher-end variants of the petrol lineup, is now available at an effective ex-showroom price of ₹ 19.59 lakh. MG Hector: Discounts Among the notable price cuts, the MG Hector Sharp Pro MT, one of the higher-end variants of the petrol lineup, is now available at an effective ex-showroom price of ₹19.59 lakh. Diesel and CVT variants continue to be priced higher. Across the Hector lineup—including the standard, 6-seater, and 7-seater Hector Plus models—several trims appear to benefit from anniversary price positioning. MG Astor: Discounts Apart from the Hector, MG is also launching a lower starting price on the Astor, its sub-compact SUV offering. The base Astor Sprint trim now begins at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting quite a few rivals in the segment. This launch pricing seems to be a part of a bigger strategy to generate interest in the Astor lineup during the brand's anniversary phase. More specification Astor models, such as ADAS models, ventilated seats, and the i-SMART 2.0 connected car package, are more expensive and do not seem to be included in the special offer. JSW MG Motor India: Financial flexibility and discounts MG has also stated financing advantages, such as 100 per cent on-road price funding and the ability to take EMI holidays, at the discretion of associated financial institutions. These schemes are likely intended to lower the upfront ownership barrier during a time of celebration for the brand.
