Does it bend? Watch JerryRigEverything try to break the Galaxy S25 Edge in durability test.

TL;DR The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has survived a bend test by YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. The channel also put the phone through a number of other durability tests. Samsung's new phone has a titanium frame and uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is finally available, and it brings a thin and light design. Does this slim and light design come at the expense of durability, though? Well, YouTube channel JerryRigEverything put the Galaxy S25 Edge through its trademark durability test. Perhaps the biggest durability-related question is whether the phone, which is made out of titanium, can withstand a bend test. Fortunately, the phone didn't catastrophically break under pressure. 'The Galaxy S25 Edge, as thin as it is, survives the bend test with flying colors,' host Zack Nelson noted during the video. The phone still seemed to function fine, although the rear panel popped off slightly. That's a pretty impressive result in light of the slim design. What else to know about the S25 Edge's durability? The Galaxy S25 Edge also features Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the display. The YouTuber showed that the display experiences scratches at level six of the Mohs hardness scale, followed by deeper grooves when using a pick on level seven of the scale. This lines up with most phones, including the S25 Ultra, although last year's S24 Ultra started scratching at level six and saw deep scratches at level eight. Nelson also took a knife to the phone and found the buttons could pop out somewhat easily. However, the camera housing and lenses stayed firmly attached. Furthermore, the phone's screen didn't seem seriously damaged, if at all, after a lighter was held to it for 30 seconds. This durability test is a big win for the Galaxy S25 Edge in light of its slim design. Samsung's phone does make compromises elsewhere, though, as it has a small battery and lacks a telephoto camera. Samsung's new Galaxy phone is razor thin, but will it affect performance?

Samsung has shaved off a few millimetres with a smaller-than-usual 3900mAh battery, which it says has been optimised to deliver all-day battery life and 24 hours of video playback time. The entry-level Galaxy S25 uses a slightly larger 4000mAh battery, and battery life wasn't a huge concern there. It remains to be seen how the thinness of the S25 Edge will affect performance in other areas, particularly when it comes to heat management, one of the main reasons for slowed performance in smaller phones. Heading off any concerns that the slim profile of the S25 Edge might make it more prone to damage, the phone uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 with enhanced crack resistance. Combined with the premium titanium materials previously seen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the phone feels reassuringly rigid to hold. On the back, the S25 Edge adopts Samsung's linear camera arrangement, maintaining a clean and instantly recognisable look. Samsung also touts the phone's ProVisual image processing engine and enhanced 'nightography' capabilities, promising improved performance in various lighting conditions, particularly challenging low-light scenarios. Alongside the new ultra-thin phone, Samsung introduced the new Galaxy Club, a paid membership program bundling a bunch of benefits and discounts for Samsung fans. Members get an introductory offer of a £100 Klarna voucher off a new phone, zero per cent financing, damage protection and a guaranteed 50 per cent trade-in value when upgrading after 12 months. The S25 Edge will be available in three finishes when it launches on 30 May: titanium silver, titanium jet black and titanium icy blue. Two models are available at launch: a 256GB version for £1,099 and a 512GB version for £1,199. Samsung isn't alone in its mission to make very thin phones. Apple is rumoured to be working on a super-thin iPhone, speculatively called the iPhone Air, which one leaker suggested could measure as little as 5.5mm thick.

I got a first look at new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge – it's so light & there's already a free upgrade on offer saving £100

EDGY! The Sun's Assistant Tech Editor gets an early hands-on with the premium slimmer handset SAMSUNG is vying to solve another problem with today's smartphones - size. While bigger screens and batteries are welcome, it comes at the hefty cost of thickness and weight in your pocket. 2 2 The Galaxy S25 Edge was hardly a secret with teases and numerous rumours about it for sometime now. But I was among the first to get fully hands on with the handset for a first look preview. The first thing I instantly noticed and loved was just how light it is for a smartphone of this standard. Coming in at 163g, it's lighter than any iPhone 16 model around. And it's 5.8mm thin too, making it the thinnest Galaxy ever. What surprised me is the slimmed down form and lighter weight don't appear to have compromised much. Of course, I'll be doing a full review to assess battery, camera performance and everything else soon. The battery is physically smaller so you might expect it not to last quite as long. Samsung claims it can get 24 hours of video playback time out of it. And there are fewer cameras on the back too, missing a telephoto lens to get closer to subjects your photographing. Samsung insider reveals top tricks every user needs to know about to save battery and storage But in this first instance, the Galaxy S25 Edge's display looks stunning and the software is the same great One UI 7 version of Android. It feels sturdy too, with a premium titanium frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for enhanced crack resistance. And the display measures in at 6.7-inch wide diagonally. There are three colours on offer: Titanium Silver Titanium Jetblack Titanium Icyblue The Galaxy S25 Edge is available to pre-order from today ahead of release on May 30. Prices start from £1099 with 256 GB of storage, or there's 512GB for £1199. However, those who pre-order from selected retailers can double their storage for the same price. SAMSUNG TECH TIP By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun Sharing Wi-Fi with friends is a hassle because the passwords are often so long and complex. With the different lower case and upper case letters, alongside numbers and weird characters you've never used, you're bound to make a mistake. On Samsung smartphones you can avoid all those issues by generating a QR code. This means your friends and family can simply scan the QR code with their phone's camera and it will instantly connect them to the Wi-Fi network. All you need to do is go to the Wi-Fi settings, select the Wi-Fi network you want to share, then look for the QR code button at the bottom.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge — we just got official details on a new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 display

Samsung will officially launch its ultra-thin Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone next week. But ahead of the May 12 release event, the phone maker dropped some information about the display that will adorn its ultra-thin phone. Specifically, the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a screen that's made with the latest version of Corning Gorilla Glass. In a joint press release Samsung and Corning announced that the S25 Edge is turning to a new glass ceramic, the Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. "It was essential to develop a display material that was both exceptionally thin and reliably strong," said Kwangjin Bae, EVP and head of mechanical R&D of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics. According to information provided by the two companies, the Ceramic 2 is supposed to be have "enhanced" durability and crack deflection thanks "crystals intricately embedded within its glass matrix." The selling point here seems to be that because of the thinness of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Corning and Samsung had to create a new glass that could be both thin and durable. "With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we've achieved a remarkable combination of thinness and strength, giving consumers the best of both worlds," said Andrew Beck, VP and general manager at Corning Gorilla Glass. A massive leak right before Samsung's May 12 event revealed a number of details about hardware specs, listing what should be in the box. Several details are ones we've seen rumored before. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Specs include a 200MP main camera — something Samsung's already confirmed. Because there's no telephoto lens on the S25 Edge, that camera will offer 2x "optical quality." Additionally, the Galaxy S25 is expected to offer a a 12MP ultrawide on the back panel and a 12MP front camera. The leak also showed images of the phone in Titanium Icyblue, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Jetblack. In the box, reportedly, you'll reportedly get a USB-C cable, a SIM pin, and of course, the phone. It does mean you'll need to have your own USB-C charging brick. While this likely matches what Samsung will share next week, we expect to find out everything officially during the May 12 Galaxy Unpacked event. Tom's Guide will be watching the event as it occurs, and will aim to keep you updated with all the news and specs as they're revealed.
