Coronation Street star confirms final scenes have aired as he leaves show after just six months

CORONATION Street star Joe Layton has confirmed his final scenes have aired as villain Mick Michaelis. The actor joined the soap six months ago as thug Mick for a short stint on the cobbles. 2 2 And now Mick has been sent to prison for murdering Craig Tinker earlier this year, he's confirmed his time on the show is over. Commenting to a fan who said: "I swear to god that better be Mick's last scene. #Corrie," the soap star replied: "Affirmative. Loved my time on the cobbles!" The actor's final scenes played out after a failed prison break that saw Mick banged up for good. In Wednesday's episode he made one final appearance from prison to speak to son Brody. Brody told his dad he would get the girls and they'd move to be near whatever prison he ended up. But in a chilling scene, Mick turned on Brody and disowned him. 'You finished? Because I'll be honest lad, all I hear is a lot of whining. You seriously think I want to see you again after all of this? 'And don't you dad me. Don't you dare call me that ever again. Ever again, do you hear me? I'm not your dad and I never was. 'You think I want to see you? Have you come visit me? Don't make me laugh. You or the girls. Or your mum. Any of you. 'But especially you Brody because the others, at least they're family but you are nothing to me. Coronation Street quietly recast show legend's daughter - just weeks after original star 'disappeared' from soap 'The one good thing to come from this is not having you as a son anymore. You're his, and that disgusts me. You disgust me and I…' Mick put the phone down, hid it under his bed as the guards opened the door to him. Head in his hands, that was Mick's final appearance on Coronation Street.

Colson Smith lands huge TV presenting role after brutal Coronation Street axe

The actor left his role as PC Craig Tinker on the ITV soap in May when his alter-ego was brutally killed off, and now the star has already landed a new role. Colson Smith left his role as PC Craig Tinker on Coronation Street when his alter-ego was brutally killed off earlier this year, but he has now landed a new TV role. The former soap star, 26, was seen on Monday's This Morning where he appeared live from Weymouth to host an item on the best sand castles in the UK. Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard introduced viewers to the segment, and an excited Colson began to deliver a piece to camera. ‌ Despite being known for starring on the Manchester-based soap, Colson revealed to viewers that he was actually born in Dorset. ‌ Joking that the some fans may have been "fooled" by is Northern accent, he explained that his grandparents live just minutes from where he was presenting. Standing in front of a massive sand sculpture, Colson was joined by master and expert Mark Anderson and the pair chatted as they made their way through Sandworld. Mark noted that the sculptures behind them can take anywhere up to a "couple of months" to produce, and Colson set to work building his own castle. ‌ Getting his hands dirty, the former Big Brother star joked that a new job offer could be on the table and then took viewers round the famous characters on display at the tourist destination. The attraction already has a host of Disney favourites on display, but Colson left hosts Cat and Ben shocked with the revelation that they have been constructed in sand and seated on the famous ITV sofa. ‌ While Ben declared the construction was "amazing", Cat attempted to recreate her sandy alter-ego's pout. Experts revealed that the sculpture had taken over a week to produce, and Colson confirmed to viewers that the pair will be on display all summer. Colson first appeared on Coronation Street in 2011, when he was introduced as the son of Beth Tinker (Lisa George) and she took him along to an ill-fated date with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson.) Over the years, he featured in a number of storylines that saw him battle OCD and then have an on/off romance with Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) before he ultimately qualified as a police office. ‌ But things ended in tragedy for Craig when he was murdered by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), and Colson recently teased that new things were on the horizon for his career.. While he didn't specify what it was or whether it was TV or something else, he did confirm he was already working on something with other big plans ahead. He spilled: "There are irons in the fire, but I will do the typical showbizzy thing of just teasing. "Everyone always thinks there's nothing going on, but there actually is. So you know, I've got stuff going on. I'm excited. I'm going through the process still of winding down from having been somewhere for 14 years, but I'm excited to see what's next, and hopefully I can find somewhere to go to work and have fun."
