DSEU opens admissions with expanded course offerings, 40 new skill-based certificates
Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) has commenced the admission process for the 2025-26 academic session, offering a broad range of diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and certificate programs across its 21 campuses. The university with 7,425 seats and 83 academic programs continues to strengthen its focus on industry-relevant and skill-based education, according to the brochure. This year marks a significant expansion in the DSEU's curriculum with the addition of 40 new certificate programs. These courses are designed to address growing demand in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital marketing, software development and entrepreneurship, aligning education with current and emerging workforce needs. The application window, which opened on May 28, will remain active until June 22. The process is fully online to ensure greater accessibility for applicants. On the first day alone, the university received more than 200 applications, indicating strong early interest from prospective students. Following the close of applications, the first seat allotment list will be published on June 23. The selected candidates will be required to complete admission formalities, including fee payment and document verification, by June 26. Physical verification of documents will take place at designated campuses. The academic session is expected to begin in July. The application fee for diploma programs is Rs 200, with admission fees set at Rs 1,500 for diploma courses and Rs 2,000 for certificate programs. To promote inclusivity, 60 per cent of seats have been reserved for candidates, who studied in Delhi up to Class 10 or 12. Additionally, 15 per cent of diploma seats are allocated to female students along with quotas for economically weaker sections, marginalized groups and persons with disabilities.

Eyeing increase in student enrolment, DSEU to part ways with JAC, will admit students through JEE
In a major shift aimed at revamping its engineering admissions strategy, the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) will part ways with the Joint Admission Committee (JAC) for the upcoming 2025-26 academic session and instead admit students to its BTech programmes through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Launched in 2020 as a government-backed initiative to promote vocational and technical education, DSEU cited low enrollment in some engineering courses as the key reason for its decision. Speaking to The Indian Express, Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Nagawat said: 'DSEU is not a technical institute like Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) or Delhi Technological University (DTU). We are a skills and entrepreneurship institute and have a different orientation in approaching technical subjects. Last year, we could only gather about 17 interested candidates for the Civil Engineering programme but had to refund their money since at least 20 of the 60 seats needed to be filled to run the programme.' Nagawat attributed the lack of interest to the dominance of older engineering institutions in the city. 'Students will mostly show interest in the older and more popular institutions. In other engineering programs, we had a good turnout, especially in BTech Electrical Engineering, AI, and Network Security Informatics. In Informatics, we filled about 55 seats last year,' he said. The JEE is a national-level engineering entrance exam conducted in two stages: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main serves as the qualifying exam for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions, as well as the eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). In 2025, approximately 15.4 lakh candidates registered for JEE Main, with about 14.75 lakh appearing across the January and April sessions. DSEU will now consider the JEE Main score for admissions without being a part of the JAC. The Joint Admission Committee (JAC), launched in 2014 as an initiative of the Delhi government, was set up to 'avoid multiple admission counsellings and save the candidates and their guardians from the resulting inconvenience.' According to the JAC website, it currently facilitates undergraduate admissions for DTU, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi), and NSUT. Meanwhile, the DSEU is expanding its academic offerings this year with 40 new programmes across undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate levels. New courses include BTech in Robotics and Automation, BTech Tool Engineering (Executive batch), Diploma in Civil Engineering (Green Infrastructure), B.S. Environmental Science, B.S. Facility and Infrastructure Management, MBA in Entrepreneurship, and MS in Quantum Computing and Technologies. Certificate courses such as AI in Office Operations, Wheelchair Skill Training, and Installation and Repair of Solar Panels have also been introduced. DSEU plans to open its admissions portal this coming week. While the university is targeting a July 1 start for the new academic session, Nagawat acknowledged there may be delays depending on the counselling process. 'We positively plan on starting the session in August,' he said. 'We are a new institute, and it will take some time for us to flourish,' said Nagawat. 'But all efforts in that direction are underway.'

DSEU to launch flexible skill courses for working professionals, revamp engineering admissions
New Delhi: Working professionals in Delhi will soon have the chance to upgrade their skills without putting their careers on hold. Starting from the 2025–26 academic session, Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) is set to roll out a range of practical, industry-aligned courses tailored for young professionals. These programmes, aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry, will be available across certificate, undergraduate, and postgraduate diploma levels. An official from the university said the new courses were designed to meet the evolving demands of the workforce. "We are focusing on hands-on training, real-world experience through internships and workshops, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students," the official added. With flexibility at its core, the programmes will also offer multiple entry and exit options under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Credit Framework (NCF), allowing learners to tailor their education to their needs. A key highlight of the initiative is the industry's involvement in curriculum development, ensuring students gain skills that are not just theoretical but directly applicable in today's job market. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tukarkan Bitcoin dan Ethereum - Tanpa Dompet Diperlukan! IC Markets MULAI SEKARANG Undo These programmes are part of DSEU's broader mission to create a career-oriented education ecosystem that supports upward mobility for working individuals. In another significant move, the university decided to conduct its own admissions for engineering courses from this year onward. DSEU opted out of the Joint Admission Committee (JAC) counselling process, which it previously shared with four other Delhi-based technical institutions. "This change was necessary," said the official, citing previous trends where students showed a preference for traditional engineering colleges, often leaving DSEU with unfilled seats. "By taking control of its admission process, DSEU aims to provide a more targeted and skill-based education experience aligned with its philosophy," added the official. Previously, five universities participated in JAC, including Delhi Technological University (DTU), Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-D), Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), and DSEU. However, this year, only four engineering institutions will be part of JAC, as DSEU has opted out. Admissions for the new academic session will be based on JEE Main scores for BTech programmes, while other courses will consider Class XII merit. The decision was approved by the university's board of management and academic council. In addition to launching new programmes and revamping admissions, the university is also planning to expand its collaboration with industry partners and startups. These partnerships will not only shape curriculum development but also offer mentorship, real-world problem-solving opportunities, and job placements, ensuring graduates are workplace-ready from day one.
