Barcelona youngster steps up recovery from injury, trains with reserve team

Dani Rodriguez is one of the young talents who made their FC Barcelona senior debut last season under Hansi Flick. However, his debut against Real Valladolid in May ended on a heartbreaking note as the young winger suffered a dislocated shoulder and had to undergo surgery. Now on the road to recovery, the 20-year-old has been making good strides and is closer to making a return. Dani Rodriguez trains with Barça Atletic Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Dani Rodriguez took part in part of Monday's training session with Barça Atlètic, marking another step forward in his recovery. Rodriguez joined Barcelona's youth ranks in the 2020/21 season from Real Sociedad and has since established himself as one of La Masia's brightest prospects. Last season, he played for the reserve side under Albert Sanchez and Sergi Mila, making ten appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists – an impressive return given his injury setbacks. The 20-year-old Basque winger caught Flick's eye last season and was regularly called up to train with the first team, before eventually making his debut in May when the unfortunate injury occurred. Barça Atletic coach Juliano Belletti is hopeful of having Rodriguez back at full strength for the coming campaign as the side looks to bounce back from relegation to the RFEF Segunda Division. Meanwhile, Flick is also keeping a very close eye on the winger's progress, and plans to have him continue in the first-team dynamics once he recovers fully.

Injured Barcelona wonderkid ruled out of Asia pre-season tour

Barcelona wonderkid Dani Rodriguez continues his recovery from the shoulder dislocation he suffered against Real Valladolid at Estadio Jose Zorrilla during the final stretch of the season. The Basque winger made his first-team debut on 3 May against Valladolid, playing 38 minutes before being forced off due to injury. Advertisement The injury cut short what looked like a promising end to the season for Dani, who was expected to stay involved with the senior squad. It has been a challenging year for the 19-year-old, who has suffered a series of physical setbacks that have prevented him from building momentum on the pitch. Out of the Asia pre-season tour Dani Rodriguez underwent surgery to treat the injury. As a result, according to SPORT, he will not travel with the squad for the pre-season Asian Tour, as he is still not fully recovered. As such, the La Masia winger will miss the friendly matches against Vissel Kobe, FC Seoul, and Daegu FC. Dani Rodriguez will miss the pre-season tour. (Photo courtesy: X/FCBarcelona) Advertisement Dani remains under contract with the club until 2027 and Hansi Flick is prepared to wait as long as needed for his return. The German coach sees him as an important part of both the present and future of the team, and will bring him into the first-team dynamics as soon as he returns. U-20 World Cup the main target As per the report, Dani's personal goal is to recover in time for the U-20 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Chile. He is expected to be called up for the tournament, which runs from 27 September to 20 October. If selected and Spain progress deep into the competition, he could miss several matches with Barcelona. Spain, who won the tournament in 1999 in Nigeria, have not qualified for the final stage since the 2013 edition in Turkey. This time, they are placed in Group C alongside Morocco, Mexico, and Brazil, and will aim to secure a place in the Round of 16.

Official: Barcelona starting lineup to face Real Valladolid – La Masia gem debuts

Barcelona can get a step closer to winning the La Liga title with a win tonight when they take on Real Valladolid away at Estadi Jose Zorrilla. The Blaugrana, one of the best teams in Europe this season, are going up against a side that has already been relegated from La Liga and are the overwhelming favourites. Advertisement However, with an eye on the UCL semi-final second leg vs Inter Milan, manager Hansi Flick has rung in the changes in the starting XI tonight. The big news is that 19-year-old La Masia gem Dani Rodriguez makes his first-team debut for Barça. Alongside Dani Rodriguez in attack are Ansu Fati and Pau Victor. Meanwhile, Marc-Andre ter Stegen makes his first appearance after over seven months having recently come back from his knee injury. In defence, there is a start for Hector Fort at right-back while Gerard Martin slots in on the left side. They flank the centre-back pair of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen, who is starting his first game of the season. Advertisement Despite the rotations, Pedri starts again in midfield but has a new partner in Gavi while Fermin Lopez replaces Dani Olmo as the No. 10.

La Masia prodigy set for long awaited Barcelona debut against Valladolid

Barcelona could witness the birth of another La Masia success story tonight, as Dani Rodriguez is expected to make his first-team debut against Real Valladolid. According to Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is set to rotate his squad heavily ahead of a key Champions League clash against Inter Milan, and Rodríguez is among the youngsters tipped to get minutes. Advertisement Ahead of the game, three promising youth talents — Dani Rodriguez, Landry Farre, and Noah Darvich — were involved in first-team training. Flick's plan is to reward their hard work by giving at least one of them their debut, with Rodriguez being the frontrunner. The 19-year-old winger is highly rated by Flick, who has followed his development closely and has included him in several training sessions with the senior side already. A versatile talent with a big future Rodriguez may not have played much this season due to muscle problems, but his talent has never been in question. Dani Rodriguez will make his Barcelona debut. Advertisement Flick is especially drawn to his pace, technical ability, and flexibility, given that he can operate on both wings, as an attacking midfielder, or even in a deeper role. Having joined La Masia from Real Sociedad in 2020 at the age of 14, Rodriguez has grown into one of the standout players in the youth system. His performances last season, split between the U19s and the reserves, earned him a contract renewal until 2027. Despite interest from Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, and clubs in the Premier League, the youngster chose to commit his future to Barcelona. A regular for Spain at youth level, Rodriguez now stands on the edge of a massive opportunity. If he gets his debut tonight, it could be the first step towards a bright future at Barcelona.
