Snoop Dogg Enters 'Creative Partnership' With NBCUniversal For Death Row Pictures

Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures have gone into business with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios as announced on Wednesday (April 23). The venture was described as a 'new creative partnership' that will expand into film, television, sports, entertainment, and streaming. 'Audiences around the world love Snoop and connect with his unparalleled showmanship and artistry,' said NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios Chairman Donna Langley in a statement. 'Those of us lucky enough to be in his orbit also know his incredible business acumen, endlessly creative spirit and the unapologetic authenticity that he brings to every project. There's only one Snoop, and we're so excited for him to join our unbelievable roster of creative partners.' The Long Beach native added, 'Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but Donna and the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home. The Dogg has officially moved into the neighborhood, ya dig?' Following his 2022 acquisition of Death Row Records, Snoop also expanded the label into a production house aptly named Death Row Pictures. The first film under the emblem will be one about his life that's being helmed by Universal. The film is written by Joe Robert Cole and produced by Snoop, Brian Grazer, and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker. Allen Hughes, who was previously slated to direct, is no longer involved. 'This strategic evolution cements the brand's influence beyond music, ushering in a new era of innovative onscreen storytelling,' said Death Row Pictures in a statement. Snoop and NBC have already been making moves together considering he was a judge on The Voice and was part of NBC and Peacock's 2024 Olympics coverage. He will return to the singing competition series as a coach this Fall for Season 28. He last appeared as a coach in Season 26. Snoop Dogg To Host New Year's Eve Variety Special For NBC

Snoop Dogg is ringing in 2025 with style. The iconic rapper, entertainer, and entrepreneur has been tapped to host a high-energy music variety special for NBC this New Year's Eve, continuing his growing partnership with NBCUniversal. According to Variety, the show will air live on Dec. 31 from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET, promising two hours of entertainment, music, and unmistakable Snoop flair, broadcast straight from Miami. The special marks another major move for Snoop, whose relationship with NBCUniversal has expanded in recent years to include high-profile appearances on The Voice and coverage for last year's Summer Olympic Games. The hosting gig also showcases Snoop's knack for commanding attention across generations and genres. 'Snoop Dogg's energy, influence and ability to bring people together promises an unforgettable night,' said Jen Neal, executive vice president of Live Events and Specials for NBCUniversal Entertainment. 'We're thrilled to partner with Snoop and bring this epic event to audiences across the country once again live from Miami.' The show will be produced by Den of Thieves — known for their work on the MTV VMAs and People's Choice Awards — alongside Snoop's own Death Row Pictures. While full details on the lineup remain under wraps, fans can expect an eclectic mix of performances and appearances befitting the Doggfather's unique brand of celebration. This announcement follows another major headline from Snoop: the release of his 21st studio album, Iz It a Crime?, dropping Friday (May 16). The project features a diverse roster of collaborators including Sexxy Red, Wiz Khalifa, LaRussell, Charlie Bereal, Akeem Ali, and Jane Handcock. The album will also serve as the official soundtrack to an upcoming short film of the same name, produced by Death Row Pictures. Between the album, film, and now this New Year's Eve special, 2024 is proving to be a landmark year for Snoop Dogg—solidifying his status not just as a Hip-Hop icon, but a cultural force capable of bridging music, media, and entertainment at the highest levels.
