Snoop Dogg reacts to Jonathan Davis playing him in his biopic: ‘Beautiful depiction of who I am'
Popular American musician Snoop Dogg's long-awaited biopic is officially moving forward, and the rap icon has shared heartfelt thoughts on the actor stepping into his shoes. Jonathan Daviss, best known for his breakout role in Netflix's Outer Banks, has been cast as the lead in the film, which will chronicle Snoop's journey from Calvin Broadus Jr. to global hip-hop legend.

Directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Coming 2 America), the project is being produced by Snoop himself, alongside Brian Grazer and Sara Ramaker. Craig is currently rewriting the original script, which was penned by Joe Robert Cole.
The Snoop Dogg biopic enters a thriving space for musical storytelling in Hollywood, joining the ranks of successful recent projects like A Complete Unknown. With Snoop closely involved and Jonathan committed to honoring the man behind the legend, anticipation for the film is already running high.
Speaking on the red carpet of the 2025 BET Awards, Snoop opened up about what it means to see his life portrayed on screen and why Jonathan felt like the right fit. 'The whole thing man, he's a dynamic actor, he's a great spirit... It's just a beautiful thing to be able to find somebody that can actually do justice to you while you're still here and able to see it,' Snoop said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
He went on to describe the scope of the film, promising an intimate, layered portrayal: 'you'll just see the evolution... from creation to innovation... you'll be able to see the upbringings, the teachings, the lessons, the things that I went through... just a beautiful depiction of who I am.'
For Daviss, known for playing Pope Heyward and recently seen in Do Revenge, the opportunity is both monumental and deeply personal. 'playing a character like like Dog man he's he's an icon... I really want to get down to who he was as a person,' he said. 'I take it in small pieces... it's a process and I've just been learning and growing and got a great teacher,' Jonathan added.
The film also marks the first title to come out of Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, with Universal's Ryan Jones overseeing the production.

'The breakup with Aaron in 2020,' the former race car driver and model replied. Danice Patrick followed it up by calling her relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers player emotionally abusive. 'Because it was sudden, it felt like. It was my life. So like when you live with somebody, it's your whole life,' she said. 'And because the nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, so that wore me down to nothing.' Thug Life to soon release on OTT? Amid poor box office performance, here's what we know about Kamal Haasan's film
Kamal Haasan's latest release Thug Life might be released on OTT sooner than expected, as per multiple reports. The film marks the reunion between filmmaker Mani Ratnam and Haasan. It ran into trouble due to Haasan's controversial 'Tamil-Kannada" remark and suffered a major loss at the box office over its blockage in Karnataka. Thug Life is a gangster drama, also starring Silambarasan. Before its release on June 5, Kamal Haasan had shared that Thug Life would mark its OTT debut after 8 weeks of its theatrical release. The film is said to be streamed online on Netflix. It seems Thug Life can be out on OTT after four weeks of its theatrical release now, reported M9 News. Reportedly, the OTT giant is evaluating the 8-week schedule since the film received an underwhelming response at the box office. Thug Life was released on Thursday and saw a decent start, making a business of ₹ 15. 5 crore [Tamil: ₹ 13.35 crore; Hindi: 0.65 crore; Teleugu: 1.5 crore]. However, over the first weekend, instead of showing growth, the film saw a sharp decline in its earnings. On Monday, it only minted ₹ 2.3 crore [Tamil: ₹ 1.9 crore ; Hindi: 0.1 crore; Telugu: ₹ 0.3 crore]. Going by the early estimates now, the film made ₹ 1.75 crore on Tuesday. However, the makers of the film are yet to make an official announcement about the OTT release. Talking about Thug Life's OTT release, Kamal Haasan was quoted saying by PTI, "It is not even an experiment, it's a pragmatic thing to do. I'm glad that the OTT (Netflix) agreed. We sat together, and it was not a negotiation. It's a plan, which maybe others could follow. 'It will make the industry healthy and we are glad that we were the first to be there to avail of that opportunity.' Thug Life is directed by Mani Ratnam, and co-written by Kamal Haasan who is also starring in the lead. It also stars Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal and Rohit Saraf. The film is produced by Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.

While Kanye has not confirmed this himself, a lot of legal changes in his life are already happening amid his ongoing legal battles, where a few of his employees at Yeezy have sued him. 'Ye or Ye Ye, who cares?' a fan wrote. 'Ye Ye sounds like a guy who auto-tunes his emails,' another said. 'Ain't no one gonna call that sh**,' a third wrote. 'Every time he changes name, he starts spitting some new kind of venom.' The paperwork hints that his new name is being used in his businesses.
