Services to be suspended in post offices in Tiruchi, Lalgudi regions on August 2
The Department of Posts has announced temporary suspension of services on August 2 at the post offices under the Tiruchi and Lalgudi Head Post Offices in view of the implementation of the next generation advanced postal technology (APT) application on August 4. The temporary suspension of services is necessary to facilitate data migration, system validation, and configuration to ensure that the new system goes live smoothly and efficiently. On August 2, no public transactions will be carried out at the post offices. The APT application is designed to offer an enhanced user experience, faster service delivery and a more customer-friendly interface to deliver smarter, efficient, and future-ready postal operations. The department has requested its customers to plan their visits in advance and bear with the brief interruption, a press release from the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Tiruchi Division, said.

Postal stamp in honour of Rani Chennabhairadevi released at Rashtrapati Bhavan
MANGALURU: A commemorative postal stamp in honour of Rani Chennabhairadevi, who ruled for a remarkable 54 years from 1552 to 1606 — the longest reign by any Indian queen — was released at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on July 24. The special stamp, issued by the Department of Posts was formally released by President Droupadi Murmu. Speaking on the occasion, the President paid tributes to the legendary queen, stating that Rani Chennabhairadevi's courage, determination, and achievements should not only be written in golden letters but also etched in diamond. She praised the queen's unwavering fight to protect her kingdom, her inclusive and secular values, her deep sense of social responsibility, and her progressive administrative policies aimed at uplifting the marginalised. The President also congratulated the Department of Posts and Excellent Educational Institutions, Moodbidri, for organising and sponsoring the event. Rajya Sabha MP Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, in his welcome address described the queen as a visionary leader whose primary objective was not territorial expansion but the welfare and prosperity of her people. He emphasised that Rani Chennabhairadevi was a skilled trader who exported pepper, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, sandalwood, rice, jaggery, and areca nut to various parts of the world, thereby earning valuable foreign exchange for her kingdom. Despite political rivalry, she maintained diplomatic ties with the Portuguese and was honoured with the title 'Raina Da Pimenta' (Queen of Pepper). Dr Heggade expressed pride in the national recognition being bestowed upon such a courageous woman.

President Droupadi Murmu released a commemorative stamp on Rani Chennabhairadevi, the Queen of Nagara Province under Vijayanagara Empire, brought out by India Post and sponsored by Excellent Educational Institutions, Moodbidri, on Thursday, July 24, at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The Queen ruled the province for 54 years, from 1552 to 1606, perhaps the longest for any woman ruler in the country, said a release. Paying tribute to the Queen, Ms. Murmu said her courage, determination and achievements were exemplary. She praised the Queen's unwavering fight to protect her kingdom, her inclusive and secular values, her deep sense of social responsibility and her progressive administrative policies aimed at uplifting the marginalised. Dept of Posts and NIPL join hands to bring affordable remittance channels
New Delhi, July 25 (UNI) The Department of Posts (DoP) and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to work on an initiative aimed at transforming inward remittances in India. The collaboration aims to harness the potential of both the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and the Unified Postal Union (UPU) Interconnection Platform (IP) to establish a seamless, secure, and affordable remittance channel. LK Dash, DDG International Relations and Global Business, Department of Posts, said this collaboration is the next step in providing accessible and affordable financial services to citizens. By successfully leveraging the UPU Interconnection Platform and UPI networks we can bring affordable remittance solutions . On the other hand, Ritesh Shukla (CEO, NPCI International Payments Limited) said, 'NIPL is working rigorously to expand the reach of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) globally for promoting seamless cross-border payments. We believe that the partnership will unlock a plethora of opportunities for financial inclusion.' The collaboration will act as a catalyst for promoting financial inclusion across India. Post offices in Tambaram division will not function on August 4
Post offices functioning in the Tambaram postal division will not carry out any transactions on August 4. This is to enable a seamless transition to 'Advanced postal technology 2.0', an advanced digital platform to be rolled out on August 5. A press release said the upgraded system will be implemented in all post offices in the Tambaram division as the Department of Posts has announced the roll out of the new application. The planned downtime will facilitate data migration and configuration processes and ensure smooth operation when the system is operated on August 5. The APT application is designed to offer an enhanced user experience, faster service delivery, and a more customer-friendly interface. Postal customers have been asked to plan their visit to post offices in advance, the release said.
