Classic Dodge Power Wagon Gets The Love It Deserves

Read the full story on Backfire News Someone kept a nice 1975 Dodge Power Wagon in their backyard under one of those temporary shelter things for the past 37 years. As you would expect, the classic truck ended up getting incredibly filthy, looking like a genuine barn find vehicle. Thankfully, it was finally rescued and given a thorough cleaning, the pickup getting the love it absolutely owner actually confirms that for a while the truck was in fact sitting inside a barn, so it came by all that dust rightfully. Then he parked it under the temporary structure and life happened. One thing that makes recovering this truck difficult is the fact it's large and has a camper shell in the bed, adding to the already massive weight. The professional detailers who signed up to rescue and clean up this Dodge, WD Detailing, struggle big time with getting the Power Wagon out of its resting spot and onto a waiting trailer. They have to take the camper shell off so it will even fit in the trailer, learning just four small C-clamps are holding it onto the bed sides. Thankfully, the owner doesn't want the camper anymore, so they take it off and dump the rotting thing. When it comes to cleaning the Dodge, the detailers have to remove layers of dirt and grime – it's really disgusting. They also find out one of the lug nuts was welded on for whatever reason. Sometimes you find the craziest things on old vehicles. But they push through, cleaning the exterior, cab, and even the engine compartment. The engine itself is done for and there is no gas tank, just an old can and a hose under the hood the owner used to supply the engine back when it did run. While the truck is going to need a lot of mechanical work, it cleans up surprisingly well. We just wonder what you would do with this pickup? What engine would you put in it? Dodge Power Wagon Rips With Hellcat Power

Read the full story on Backfire News The only thing better than a lifted classic Dodge Power Wagon is a lifted classic Dodge Power Wagon with a Hellcat engine swap. We love trucks and muscle cars, but combining the two doesn't always work out. But with this build, we think the end result is rather pickup is a 1971 Dodge Power Wagon the owner says was a retired Air Force truck. Built by Rock Bottom Offroad, they created a custom chassis for this pickup with performance in mind. And to clarify, this works great on the street but is also capable on trails, although probably not on anything too technical. The Hellcat used in this Dodge was donated by a 2020 Jeep Trackhawk, tuned to make about 750-horsepower. That engine works with an HP95 transmission from a Ram TRX and a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon transfer case. In other words, this thing is a Mopar Frankenstein and it works beautifully, roasting tires and taking on dirt like a pro. As for the exhaust, it's built on the outside of the frame rails on both sides. The tailpipes are located in front of the rear tires, with everything tucked under the rocker panels for a clean look. Speaking of trail runs, the differentials come out of a Ford Super Duty but have Yukon aftermarket gears. The suspension is Fox Factory and the hubs are from WARN Industries. The owner says there's about 14 inches of travel in the front and 28 inches in the rear. The whole thing rides on 37-inch tires. In other words, this truck is overbuilt with top-shelf components and should be tough to break. When it comes to the interior, it's definitely a mixture of old school and modern in a strange twist. There are digital gauges, an old-style steering wheel, leather upholstery, a custom center console with cupholders, plus a cage for the front seats. This is quite the truck, so check out the video to see all the details plus it's smoky burnouts. Images via Autotopia LA/YouTube

Desert Power Wagons Builds a Mega Retro Truck on Top of a New Ram

Desert Power Wagons builds modern reproductions of the original Dodge Power Wagon with everything new but the styling. A recently finished truck uses a as a basis and even borrows its contemporary interior. Ram-based models such as this one from DPW start at $425,000. Desert Power Wagons will build you an old-look, new-tech take on the 1940s Dodge original in one of two ways: with a custom body on a custom chassis or using that same body atop modern Ram bits. Car and Driver senior editor Ezra Dyer came away impressed after some time with the all-custom option, which garnered more attention than some supercars and cost an exotic-rivaling $385,000. We're now getting a closer look at the other type of build, and it looks just as nicely finished. DPW recently completed an example in a very Power Wagon-appropriate red with black trim. It looks every bit the part on the outside, with the Method Racing wheels being the real giveaway that this truck isn't simply over-restored army surplus. Inside, however, the builder has neatly placed the guts of a modern heavy-duty Ram 2500—a Limited model, judging by the center-console lid. Everything looks like it was designed to fit, including the giant center touchscreen. The seats have been recovered in red-accented black leather with diamond quilting and crocodile-look embellishments, and the doors are trimmed to match. As Dyer explained in his piece, plopping the retro body on a new Ram necessitates a shallow bed. The latest creation is just as cleanly outfitted as the one he hauled kayaks in, with its oak floor stained black to match the rest of the truck's motif. A set of 40-inch tires fill the giant fenders, and there's a Carli suspension holding everything up and providing 9.5 inches of travel front and rear. This truck is powered by a Cummins diesel 6.7-liter inline-six making 385 horsepower and 930 pound-feet of torque, backed by a six-speed automatic. It's the same powerplant as in the one Dyer drove, the difference being it hasn't been wrested from its natural home in a Ram frame. Desert Power Wagons will also build you a truck with a Hemi V-8, and it offers two-door Power Wagons as well as a more wagon-like facsimile of the WC-53 Carryall. Like other modern reproductions, the Ram-based Desert Power Wagon carries a high price. The $425,000 ask is put into perspective somewhat when you consider that this giant took over 5000 hours to create. transparent size and mass don't come cheap, and neither does meticulous attention to detail. $3.7M Corvette ZR1 Tops Barrett-Jackson 2025 Auction in Scottsdale

Read the full story on Modern Car Collector The 2025 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction delivered another unforgettable year for collector-car enthusiasts, with jaw-dropping sales and electrifying moments in the world of high-performance and classic vehicles. The highlight of the auction was the sale of the first retail 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick secured the historic vehicle, bidding an astounding $3.7 million. This single sale accounted for over half of the event's $5.2 million raised for charity, with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts for victims of California wildfires and southeastern U.S. hurricanes. Another notable charity auction was the sale of the radically customized 1962 Dodge Power Wagon, known as 'Project S.W.E.A.T.,' which brought in $1.5 million. The combination of high-profile bidders and unique vehicles helped make Barrett-Jackson's 2025 charity sales a resounding success. In the non-charity segment, a 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster stood out with a closing bid of $2.2 million. Limited to just 30 units, the 1,817-horsepower hypercar boasts a staggering top speed of 265 mph (426 km/h). Other high-ticket vehicles included a 2014 Pagani Huayra with the Tempesta Package, fetching $1.925 million, and a rare 2020 Ford GT Liquid Carbon Edition, previously owned by music star DJ Marshmello, which sold for $1.76 million. The auction also saw a 2022 Ford GT with only 16 miles on the odometer sell for $1.1 million, while a classic 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing continued to captivate with its timeless appeal.
