We've Been Talking About How We're Getting The Summer Of Tom Holland In 2026. Now, It's Looking Like The Winter Of Florence Pugh
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. We've been talking about how we're getting the summer of Tom Holland, with the English-born actor set to star in Christopher Nolan's Odyssey movie and swinging back into cinemas in the upcoming Spider-Man sequel. The summer of 2026 will be huge for upcoming movies, but if you're looking ahead a few months, December is already shaping to belong entirely to someone else: Florence Pugh. Not just figuratively, either; she has two major films landing on the same weekend. Those would be the Russo brothers' Avengers: Doomsday, and Dune: Messiah, both slated for December 2026. Go ahead, let that sink in. Let's start with Doomsday, the next big swing in Marvel's Multiverse Saga. Pugh returns as Yelena Belova, the no-nonsense assassin who's gone from scene-stealing supporting role to franchise anchor. With much of the original Avengers lineup gone or rebooted, Yelena is positioned to take center stage in a way fans have been waiting for. And with Doomsday reportedly setting up the final pieces of Marvel's multiverse endgame, expect high stakes, massive cameos, and the Midsommar actress is in a full-fledged action lead capacity. She won't even have time to take off the combat boots before dropping into the sand again, because she's also reprising her role in some of the best sci-fi movies of recent memory, as Princess Irulan in Dune: Messiah, Denis Villeneuve's next chapter in the sweeping sci-fi saga. This sequel is expected to take a darker, more intimate turn as Paul Atreides' messianic rule begins to unravel. And if you've read the book, you know Irulan's role is only growing. She's no longer just window dressing in the imperial court, but a political. Two franchise juggernauts. Two wildly different roles. One actress anchoring both. That's not just a scheduling coincidence, but a flex. Studios rarely schedule two major blockbusters starring the same actor on the same opening weekend, but the Little Women star isn't your average star. She's earned a reputation for elevating every project she joins, whether it's the unsettling indie Midsommar, action-packed upcoming Marvel movie tentpoles, or the prestige ensemble of Oppenheimer. Now, she's entering rare air: a bona fide box office force and a critical powerhouse. Come next holiday season, it won't just be Christmas, it'll be Pugh Season. And like the Barbenheimer phenomenon before it, we're about to witness a cultural collision. Call it DoomsDune, Dune'sDay, Doone, whatever the name, it's the event of the season, and fans won't want to miss it. So yes, the summer of Tom Holland is happening. We'll get the suit, the quips, the billion-dollar box office, and maybe even a Spider-Verse twist or two. But when winter hits, it's Florence Pugh's turn to own the spotlight. And with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Messiah both set to dominate the cultural conversation, she could walk away from 2026 with not just the year's biggest hits, but its most iconic performances too. Mark your calendars! Dune: Messiah hits theaters on December 16, 2026, and just two days later, Avengers: Doomsday is coming to cinemas on the 18th. Don't miss out!

‘Avengers: Doomsday' delayed to December 2026, set to clash With ‘Dune: Messiah' in ‘Dunesday' cinematic event
Marvel fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next epic showdown. Disney has officially pushed Avengers: Doomsday to December 18, 2026, delaying it by seven months from its original May release. The move also shifts Avengers: Secret Wars to December 17, 2027. The delay puts Doomsday in direct box-office collision with Dune: Messiah, the third and final installment of Denis Villeneuve's Dune saga. The internet, unsurprisingly, already has a name for the upcoming double blockbuster weekend: Dunesday. While Marvel's usual May slot is now empty, Disney seems to be reshuffling its entire superhero slate. Several 'Untitled Marvel' placeholders have vanished or been rebranded as 'Untitled Disney,' indicating a tightening of release strategy. Between Fantastic 4: First Steps in July 2025 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day a full year later, the MCU will experience its longest feature film drought since the pandemic. The change also follows recent comments by Disney CEO Bob Iger, who admitted Marvel had 'lost a little focus by making too much.' The revised approach aims to emphasise fewer, higher-quality tentpoles, which is a likely reason behind the strategic delays. Still, Avengers: Doomsday remains a major event film. Robert Downey Jr. returns, but this time as Doctor Doom, joined by teams from Thunderbolts and Fantastic 4, and even X-Men legends like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Production has already begun ramping up. Doomsday and Messiah are now set to headline a packed December 2026, including Ice Age 6, Shrek 5, and Jumanji 4

It is the third part of the famous Dune franchise. Fans have already given a Barbenheimer-like title to this clash. Several said it should be called 'Dunesday'. '2026 has found it's potential Barbenheimer... unless someone moves again,' one person noted on X, platform formerly known as Twitter. 'No joke, I truly believe that we could get another Barbenheimer movement with Avengers: DunesDay,' another one added. 'WB and Disney are in cahoots to manufacture a new Barbenheimer with Dunesday,' a third person tweeted. 'Notably, the new calendar saw the studio remove several unannounced Marvel titles off of its calendar,' Variety reports. Law Roach reveals Zendaya's wedding dress will be 'really beautiful' but unlikely to be ever seen
In a conversation that has sent social media abuzz, Law Roach has shared intriguing insights into Zendaya's wedding plans with Tom Holland. The iconic celebrity stylist has done an impressive job in ensuring that Zendaya not only slays with her red carpet looks but also on magazine covers as well. Fresh off their engagement announcement in January, Zendaya and Holland have left fans speculating about the next steps in their much-adored romance. During an interview with Aria Hughes on the podcast, "Complex", Roach divulged that while he envisions Zendaya's wedding dress to be "really beautiful," it is likely that the public will never catch a glimpse of it. 'Zendaya is working on like six movies. I'm thinking about the press tours. It will probably be a wedding dress that nobody will ever see, to be quite honest, because she and Tom are super private about their relationship," said Roach. He added: "They try to be as private as possible, so there won't be a 'Vogue' spread; there won't be pictures of the wedding. The people that she will invite will be really respectful of their privacy. So it will be a really beautiful dress that no one gets to see." Zendaya and Holland first met on the set of 2016's "Spider-Man: Homecoming". After a period of speculation regarding their romantic involvement, they made headlines in 2021 when paparazzi captured them sharing a kiss in a car, officially revealing their relationship. Their engagement is rumoured to have happened during a family gathering in January. It was discreetly acknowledged when Zendaya donned a sparkling diamond ring at the Golden Globe Awards shortly thereafter. With Zendaya currently juggling a hectic filming schedule for six projects, including an action fantasy sequel and another "Spider-Man" film alongside Holland, as well as the much-anticipated "Dune: Messiah", stepping back into the limelight for a wedding may be challenging. Interestingly, reactions from fans signal that many believe the couple's secrecy may imply they have already tied the knot. 'They're probably already married, byeeeee,' commented one TikTok user. Others echoed sentiments suggesting that Roach's remarks hint at a contractual bond between the lovebirds beyond engagement. As Zendaya herself previously articulated: "Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public... I can't not be a person and live my life and love the person I love." With a balance of public life and personal sanctuary, fans can only hold their breath while watching how this captivating romance unfolds. If engagement news is any indication, eyes will be peeled for signs, perhaps even an unexpected gold band on Holland's finger at future red carpet events. Watch the full podcast below.

Law Roach Gives Update On Zendaya And Tom Holland's Wedding
From the moment the world found out that Tom Holland and Zendaya were engaged in January, fans have been clamoring for details about their wedding. And, of course, with Zendaya being the absolute fashion icon that she is, we're all especially excited about the prospect of her wedding dress. In the past few months, Z's stylist of over 14 years, Law Roach, has dropped hints about his involvement in the wedding, previously telling E! that he'll definitely be working on the gown when the time comes. But now, after Zendaya stunned at the Met Gala in a bridal-inspired suit, Law is managing expectations — and some of you aren't gonna like it. During a sit-down conversation with Aria Hughes for Complex, released on May 8, Law was asked whether he's actively thinking about Zendaya's wedding dress yet. 'No,' he replied, reminding fans that he's got plenty of other things to be thinking about before then. 'Zendaya is working on six movies; she has like six movies coming out. I'm thinking about the press tours!' He's not kidding. Zendaya's upcoming projects include the long-awaited third season of Euphoria and movies like The Drama, Dune: Messiah, and Shrek 5. On top of that, she also has Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and a new Spider-Man film in the works, both of which involve Tom, too. So, it's gonna be a busy few years! Law went on to speak a little more about the wedding, namely, what fans should — or shouldn't — be expecting. 'It will probably be a wedding dress that no one will ever see, to be quite honest, because she and Tom are super private about their relationship,' he said. 'They try to be as private as possible, so like, there won't be a Vogue spread, or there won't be, you know, pictures of the wedding.' 'The people that she will invite will be really respectful of their privacy,' he added. 'So it'll be a really beautiful dress that no one gets to see.' Now, if you know anything about Tom and Zendaya and all they've said in the past about protecting their relationship from public scrutiny, these comments from will hardly come as a surprise — but that doesn't mean we're not allowed to be disappointed! On X, the clip of Law has gained a ton of attention, with one fan writing: 'law roach crushing our hopes of possibly seeing zendaya in her wedding dress…' 'We knew lol' added someone else, while others highlighted that Zendaya and Tom still haven't even confirmed their engagement themselves. 'The only reason we found out they were engaged was because Zendaya attended the golden globes,' one user wrote. 'They would've kept that to themselves for as long they could. We're not getting anything.' Well, with the genius Law on the job for these upcoming press tours, we've still got plenty of Zendaya fashion moments to look forward to — maybe they'll even give us a few bridal-inspired looks? A girl can dream!
