Nebraska season ends in 17-1 blowout loss to Oklahoma in Chapel Hill Regional The Nebraska Cornhuskers entered Sunday continuing their run in the elimination rounds, this time facing Oklahoma for a chance to take on North Carolina tonight in the Regional Championship. The Sooners, however, demolished any hope the Huskers had, ending their season with a 17-1 blowout. Oklahoma picked apart Nebraska from the start, scoring three runs in the top of the first before piling on six more in the third. By the time the Huskers scored their lone run of the game, the Sooners held a commanding 15-0 lead. Dylan Carey brought in the run for Nebraska, hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. The Huskers finished with only six hits in the game. Oklahoma knocked in 18 hits on the day, with eight batters finishing with two or more. Will Walsh (4-8) suffered the loss after starting the game for Nebraska. He pitched 2.0 innings but allowed seven runs and six hits. Tucker Timmerman stepped in for Walsh in the third but only managed one out before being pulled, while the Sooners struck three more hits and two more runs. Drew Christo took over and pitched 3.1 innings, but also fell victim to the Oklahoma onslaught, finishing with five runs off four hits and four walks. Jalen Worthley tossed 1.1 innings and coughed up two hits and a run. Gavin Blachowicz pitched the eighth inning, tossing one strikeout but allowing three hits and two runs. TJ Coats closed out the ninth, earning one strikeout. Nebraska concluded its 2025 season with a 33-29 overall record and its 19th regional appearance in program history, and its third in the last five seasons, after winning back-to-back Big Ten Tournament titles. Nebraska baseball closes out regular season with 14-2 run-rule win over Purdue The Huskers (28-27, 15-15) concluded the regular season on Saturday afternoon against Purdue (31-23, 11-19). Nebraska took the series in dominating fashion, blowing out the Boilermakers 14-2 in eight innings, its fifth consecutive series win. The Huskers got on the board in the first during a two-out rally, scoring two runs off a two-run RBI single. Nebraska struck again in the second, adding four runs to its lead. The Huskers scored two more times before Purdue snatched its first run. Nebraska then traded runs with the Boilermakers shortly after, making the score 9-2. But the Huskers scored five unanswered from there, including four in the eighth to put the game away. Dylan Carey, Case Sanderson and Cael Frost co-led Nebraska at the plate, all pitching in two RBIs on the day. Carey and Sanderson each recorded a hit, while Frost struck a two-run home run off his only hit of the game. Will Jesske finished 4-for-5 in the batter's box, earning a double and scoring three times. Cayden Brumbaugh hit 2-for-3 for one RBI. Robby Bolin, Hayden Lewis, Gabe Swansen, Joshua Overbeek and Riley Silva all delivered one RBI apiece. Jackson Brockett (3-3) earned the win at the mound after pitching the opening 2.0 innings. He threw two strikeouts in his outing and allowed only two hits and a walk. Gavin Blachowicz took over in the third inning, surrendering one run off one hit, but also punched out two batters. Pryce Bender pitched the fourth and fifth innings and allowed two hits and a run against two strikeouts. Caleb Clark held Purdue scoreless and hitless in 1.1 frames of work. He also recorded three strikeouts and coughed up one walk. Blake Encarnacion and Grant Cleavinger combined to pitch the final 1.2 innings, also keeping the Boilermakers off the board. Encarnacion recorded the final two outs of the seventh, tossing one strikeout. Cleavinger pitched the eighth and recorded two punchouts. The Huskers now enter the Big Ten Tournament in Omaha with the eighth seed. Nebraska opens the tournament on Tuesday night against Michigan State. The Huskers took the win on the night, ending the game with a massive three-run double to win 7-6. Gabe Swansen delivered the game-winning hit with two outs, sending the ball down the left-field line to bring in Cayden Brumbaugh, Robby Bolin and Dylan Carey for the win. Nebraska entered the bottom of the ninth after surrendering four straight runs to the Wildcats. Kansas State took the lead in the seventh, going up 5-4, responding to the Huskers' three runs in the sixth. Even after the Wildcats added one more run in the ninth, Nebraska rallied to get the win. The Huskers finished with nine hits for six RBIs and also scored following a bunt and a throwing error. Kansas State delivered six hits for five RBIs. Dylan Carey finished 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits, while Swansen led in RBIs with three off his game-winning blast. With three home runs and a strong defensive front, Nebraska took game one with a 7-3 upset win. The Huskers scored all seven runs before the Beavers got on the board in the sixth. Though Oregon State closed the gap to 7-3, Nebraska shut down any comeback attempts to secure the victory and its first top five victory since upsetting No. 1 Arkansas in the Fayetteville Regional in 2021. The Huskers finished with 11 hits for seven RBIs and three home runs while holding the Beavers to five hits for three RBIs and one home run. Dylan Carey and Devin Nunez co-led at the plate, both going 2-for-4 on the night. Carey drove in two RBIs while also sending a hit over the wall. Tyler Stone and Cael Frost delivered Nebraska's other two home runs, each serving up two-run shots. Rhett Stokes brought in an RBI off his lone single in the fourth. Nebraska started strong with a 3-0 lead in Sunday's contest, but the Bruins scored five unanswered runs and held the Huskers scoreless across the final six innings, securing a 5-3 win to get the sweep. Nebraska took the lead in the second inning, scoring two runs off a Dylan Carey double. Tyler Stone logged in the Huskers' final run in the third with a sacrificial fly. Carey finished 2-for-4 on the day, leading the team with two hits. Nebraska totaled seven hits in the loss with Joshua Overbeek, Cayden Brumbaugh, Tyler Stone, Will Jesske and Cael Frost all earning one hit apiece. But UCLA shut down the Huskers, scoring-wise, including the final three innings where Nebraska only sent a total of 10 batters to the plate in that span.
