Carey went undrafted in the MLB draft, but was one of the most consistent hitters for the program last season. He had a. 288 average, with eight home runs, and 41 RBIs in 62 games. He has played in 176 total games for Nebraska, and has a career .273 batting average with 19 home runs and 102 RBIs.
Carey will help lead a team that is losing several key contributors for the 2026 season. The Huskers will still have several veteran players on the roster. Centerfielder Riley Silva and first baseman Casey Sanderson are among the players looking to make big strides next season.
Having Carey back in the lineup should provide additional support for a team looking to make a jump in 2026.

We have signed Safety K'Von WallaceDetails: A former Clemson football standout and two-time national champion has found a new home in the NFL. Safety K'Von Wallace, a member of the Tigers' 2016 and 2018 national championship teams, signed with the New York Giants Tuesday, the club announced. The Giants are Wallace's fifth NFL team since he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Wallace spent three seasons with the Eagles and played in all 17 games in 2022 before the club released him. He spent 2023 between the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans, a season in which he started 12 of 17 games and had an interception, six pass breakups, and one tackle for loss. Wallace spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks and played in nine games, making 15 tackles (nine solo) with one forced fumble before being placed on injured reserve. With the Giants, Wallace will reunite with former Tigers defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who played at Clemson from 2016-18 and was selected by New York in the first round (17th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. While at Clemson from 2016-19, Wallace played in 59 games for Dabo Swinney's Tigers and made 36 starts. He ended his college career with 156 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, 21 pass breakups, and five interceptions. Wallace had a 66-yard interception return for a touchdown in Clemson's 52-10 win over Charlotte on Sept. 21, 2019. The Tigers started 14-0 that season before falling to LSU in the CFP title game. A year earlier, Wallace had five tackles in Clemson's 44-16 win over Alabama in the Tigers' national championship game romp at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to cap their 15-0 season. Over the course of five NFL seasons, Wallace has played in 71 games and made 19 starts. He has 168 career tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Former Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher, who, after six seasons, was dismissed before the end of the 2023 campaign, just hours after the Aggies' blowout win over Mississippi State at home. While many, including myself, were shocked by the timing of his firing, the fan base had grown tired of average results, including just two nine-win finishes, which had not been accomplished since the 2020 campaign. However, nothing compares to the massive $77.5 million buyout that Texas A&M's Athletic Program will be tied to for the next six years, already paying out a large portion since he departed College Station. Fisher has, for the most part, stayed out of the media limelight, but for those who only think of him as the former Aggie head coach, Fisher's eight years leading Florida State included one of the greatest college football seasons after the Seminoles finished 14-0 with a 34-31 National Championship win over Auburn. Fisher's ACC background and ability to discuss the game on camera led to the news that the West Virginia native has been hired as an analyst with the ACC Network and will join the ACC Huddle program throughout the 2025 college football season. 'I'm looking forward to joining ACC Network and the Huddle team this season,' Fisher stated. 'I've always had tremendous respect for this conference, and I'm looking forward to breaking down the action each week with such a talented group.'
