Celtic could 'renew interest' in Evan Ferguson as transfer hijack follows Yamada hint and Ambrosino U turn
The striker looks set to make a move to Roma from Brighton - but the Hoops' striker search could change that Evan Ferguson could reportedly face a last-minute decision over a move to Roma if Celtic"renew their interest" in the Brighton misfit. The 20-year-old has been touted with a Parkhead loan move to kickstart his season after netting just one Premier League goal for the Seagulls last season - and failing to make his mark at West Ham on loan during the second half of the season. But reports in Italy suggest a season-long loan switch to Serie A is on the cards with Roma set to pay the Ireland international's full annual salary of around €1.8 million (£1.5million). However, The Sunday Times now report that Ferguson could "have second thoughts" over a move "should the Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, renew his interest." Shin Yamada looks set to become the next new face in the door for Celtic after reports in Japan claimed a £1.5million switch from Kawaski Frontale had received the green light. It is claimed the 25-year-old will jet into Scotland following his international commitments with Japan at the E-1 Championship. And while remaining coy over a potential transfer to Glasgow's east end, the forward has hinted that he would be open to moving to Europe to improve his shot of appearing at the World Cup. He told Japanese media:"I want to show my difference in terms of goals and in the way I fight. I think the competition will be fierce, and I feel that there is little time if that is for Kawaski or overseas. "I'm pushing forward a lot in preparation for the World Cup, but I think there will be times when I'm pushed back, so I think I can make a difference by connecting goals to those, so I hope I can do that." Napoli ' striker Giuseppe Ambrosino is also attracting interest from Serie A new boys Cremonese and the Scottish Premiership champions this summer. The Hoops have been tracking Ambrosino, who found the target for Italy U21s in their European Championship quarter final defeat to Germany. But after impressing at the tournament, Gazzetta r eport that the Scudetto winners are now considering giving the 21-year-old a chance in pre-season. It is said that Antonio Conte is keen to show "trust in the Napoli system" before making a final decision on a departure. Shin Yamada to Celtic 'agreed' and timeline named as Balikwisha transfer addressed and £3m defender 'convinced'
Three deals are in motion for Brendan Rodgers' side with the new season rapidly approaching Shin Yamada has reportedly agreed his move to Celtic - and will arrive at the club following his international commitments with Japan. The Kawasaki Frontale frontman has been touted as the most recent J-League star to emerge on the Parkhead radar after the successes of the likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Kyogo in green and white. A £1.5million switch for the 25-year-old has been touted as Brendan Rodgers looks to add competition for Adam Idah - with Callum Osmand already in the building. Japanese outlet Sports Hochi claim that the frontman has agreed "to join" the Scottish Premiership champions and will jet out to join his new teammates following the E-1 Championship. Japan's final fixture of the tournament comes against South Korea on July 15. A replacement for Como-bound Nicolas Kuhn is also on the shortlist for the Hoops with Michel-Ange Balikwisha top of the list. Reports in Belgium suggested that the wide man was "close" to a move to Celtic - with speculation only ramping up after he missed Royal Antwerp's training session during a pre-season camp in Austria. Balikwisha was one of two players not to take part in Wednesday's session along with Milo Hormeans. Asked about potential transfer departures of the pair, boss Stef Wils insisted the duo were injured. He told GVA: "They're struggling with classic preparation ailments. After three and a half weeks of inactivity, we've trained hard these past few days. "I'd rather have these guys do something different for a day and get back on track, rather than pushing them to their limits." Celtic are also said to be considering a move for towering Dutch defender Justin de Haas. The Premiership champions are reportedly keen on the 25-year-old who plays for Portuguese top flight side Famalicão and the left-back has been scouted extensively. Record report that the club have been told by Celtic they will pay £3million for the player - who is said to be "convinced" to join the Hoops should a fee be agreed. Football: Kyoto midfielder Kawasaki to join Mainz on loan: sources
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japanese midfielder Sota Kawasaki has joined Mainz in the German Bundesliga from J-League side Kyoto Sanga on a season-long loan with an option to buy, both clubs announced Wednesday. The move sees the 23-year-old link up with his Japanese compatriot Kaishu Sano at Mainz, who finished sixth in the league last season. Kawasaki was called up but did not join the Japan squad currently at the E-1 Championship in South Korea in preparation for the transfer. "I'll give my all to pay you back with positive news," Kawasaki said on Kyoto's website.
