Bhiwani teacher murder case: Kin demand ‘fresh postmortem report'; failure of law & order, says Former CM

The murder of a 19-year-old playschool teacher in Bhiwani's Singhani village has caused public outrage in the area with protests entering its third day on Saturday and shopkeepers observing shutdown against alleged police inaction. While the protestors have lifted the blockade of the Delhi-Pilani road in Loharu, the deceased's family has refused to claim the body. Manisha, a resident of Dhani Laxman village in Loharu, had gone missing on August 11 and her body was found on August 13. On Saturday, Manisha's father Sanjay told the media: 'The police personnel told me that if my daughter has gone missing, she must have eloped and she will come back in two days.' Manisha's uncle Kuldeep also spoke to the media: 'Protests will continue until all our demands, including the arrest of all the accused, are met.' He also demanded a different board of doctors to conduct a fresh and thorough postmortem, alleging that: 'There were multiple lapses in the postmortem examination.' The family alleges that the post-mortem report doesn't 'conclusively' indicate the murder. In response to the ongoing protest, the Haryana government, on Friday, transferred Bhiwani SP Manbir Singh and suspended Loharu police station in-charge Ashok, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shakuntala, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team ASI Anoop, constable Pawan, and Special Police Officer (SPO) Dharmendra. The government posted Sumit Kumar as Bhiwani SP, who will supervise the investigation now. Reacting to the incident, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday: 'All the accused should be arrested at the earliest and justice must be ensured for the victim's family. We demand the strictest possible punishment for the culprits so that no criminal dares to even think of committing such an act in the future.' In Bahadurgarh, Hooda told the media: 'Law and order has completely collapsed across Haryana. Traders are receiving threats on a daily basis. Businessmen, employees, politicians, common people, and even the police no longer feel safe. It seems like there is no government in the state, and criminals have taken control of the entire system… This crime has exposed not just the brutality of the culprits, but also the failure of the law and order system… If the police had acted in time, her life could have been saved.' According to Manisha's family, on August 11, she left home to go to a nursing college in Singhani to enquire about her admission. As she failed to return by evening, her father informed the police via Dial-112 (Haryana police emergency response support system). According to Manisha's family, police accompanied them to the college to inquire, where they questioned three drunk men. The men denied seeing Manisha and said the college had closed at 1 pm. On August 13, a farmer found a young woman's body in a field near a canal in Singhani. Police, who reached the spot after being informed, identified the deceased as Manisha. Police said that, 'Special Investigation teams have been constituted to identify and nab the accused. We are in constant touch with the victim's family members.'

Haryana DGP reviews emergency response vehicle operations, asks officers to improve response time

1 2 Chandigarh: Haryana director general of police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur convened a meeting with senior officers to review the functioning and performance of emergency response vehicles (ERVs), aiming to improve their efficiency. On the occasion, the DGP said providing quick, reliable, and high-quality service to the public during emergencies is the police's top priority, and ERVs must be continuously strengthened to achieve this goal. During the meeting, the DGP said that ERVs are the face of the police's first response, and to maintain public trust, their services must be fast, accurate, and sensitive. He directed the officers present to continuously improve ERV efficiency by reducing response time, providing regular staff training, and strengthening technical monitoring. He further clarified that each vehicle is monitored 24/7 by police headquarters, and no negligence or indiscipline will be tolerated. The meeting also discussed in detail the performance parameters set for ERV personnel. Reviewing the average response time of ERVs across districts, the DGP instructed officers concerned to prepare concrete and time-bound action plans to further reduce it. He stressed that delayed ERV responses not only affect the image of the police but also hinder timely assistance to victims. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 11 Foods That Help In Healing Knee Pain Naturally Undo Performance Analysis through Data and Dashboard During the meeting, representatives of the Haryana 112 team gave a detailed presentation on dashboard and data analysis systems. The presentation also mentioned that a special training programme on the 'Audit Module of ERV' has been organised for ERV nodal officers and ERSS staff in each district. The training includes live demonstrations of the module, its standard operating procedures (SOPs), and first-aid guidelines. At least four police personnel were injured and three police vehicles damaged after a group of transgender persons allegedly assaulted police on MG Road near Sikanderpur early Monday and later vandalised the civil hospital in Sector 10 during an attempt to free nine arrested members, police said. The accused have been booked under sections 115 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 152 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty), and other provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. (HT Photo) 'The incident began around 1am when a police team dispersed a group of women and transgender persons suspected of soliciting for prostitution in Sikanderpur,' an officer said. The group allegedly returned, confronted constable Amit Kumar and special police officer Rajender Kumar while they were patrolling on a motorcycle, and assaulted them. Both sustained injuries, and their motorcycle, along with an emergency response vehicle (ERV) that arrived for backup, was damaged, investigators said. An FIR was lodged at the DLF Phase II police station, leading to the arrest of nine transgender persons. Women police personnel were present while dealing with them. Police said that around 6pm, 10 to 12 associates of those arrested reached the civil hospital, where the suspects had been taken for medical examination before judicial custody. The accused have been booked under sections 115 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 152 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty), and other provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram police, said the group attempted to free the arrested persons and assaulted officers on duty. 'Two police personnel, including constable Joginder, sustained deep cuts on their heads. Two others had bruises from the earlier attack on MG Road,' he said. According to investigators, the group damaged hospital property, including glass panes, chairs and tables, creating panic among patients, attendants, doctors and nursing staff. An ERV at the site was also damaged. Hospital authorities said they will submit a complaint at the Sector 9A police station. Police said a second FIR will be registered in connection with the vandalism.

Panchkula police reunite 415 missing persons with families in a year

Panchkula: Panchkula Police traced and reunited 415 missing individuals with their families over the past year. The police said, this figure, recorded between August 1, 2024, and July 31, 2025, is a testament not only to the vigilance of the police force but also to their deep sense of humanity. DCP Srishti Gupta said among those found were 143 minors under the age of 18. These included 9 boys and 5 girls under 6 years of age, 10 boys and 7 girls between 6 and 12 years, and 18 boys and 94 girls aged between 12 and 18 years. In addition to minors, the police also traced and reunited 207 individuals aged between 18 and 35 — 33 men and 174 women. Another 65 individuals above the age of 35 were located, comprising 38 men and 27 women. Several emotional reunions occurred during the operation, especially in cases where young children or elderly persons were missing. DCP Gupta noted that some of the children were mentally challenged and unable to provide any personal information, such as their name or address. In such cases, police personnel — from station staff to beat officers and ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) drivers — displayed sensitivity and dedication in handling the situation and achieving success. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Knee pain treatment prices might surprise you Knee pain| search ads Find Now Undo In some cases, children ran away due to domestic conflicts or stress, while others unknowingly boarded trains and reached different states.
