Bhiwani teacher murder case: Kin demand ‘fresh postmortem report'; failure of law & order, says Former CM
While the protestors have lifted the blockade of the Delhi-Pilani road in Loharu, the deceased's family has refused to claim the body.
Manisha, a resident of Dhani Laxman village in Loharu, had gone missing on August 11 and her body was found on August 13.
On Saturday, Manisha's father Sanjay told the media: 'The police personnel told me that if my daughter has gone missing, she must have eloped and she will come back in two days.'
Manisha's uncle Kuldeep also spoke to the media: 'Protests will continue until all our demands, including the arrest of all the accused, are met.' He also demanded a different board of doctors to conduct a fresh and thorough postmortem, alleging that: 'There were multiple lapses in the postmortem examination.'
The family alleges that the post-mortem report doesn't 'conclusively' indicate the murder.
In response to the ongoing protest, the Haryana government, on Friday, transferred Bhiwani SP Manbir Singh and suspended Loharu police station in-charge Ashok, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shakuntala, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team ASI Anoop, constable Pawan, and Special Police Officer (SPO) Dharmendra. The government posted Sumit Kumar as Bhiwani SP, who will supervise the investigation now.
Reacting to the incident, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday: 'All the accused should be arrested at the earliest and justice must be ensured for the victim's family. We demand the strictest possible punishment for the culprits so that no criminal dares to even think of committing such an act in the future.'
In Bahadurgarh, Hooda told the media: 'Law and order has completely collapsed across Haryana. Traders are receiving threats on a daily basis. Businessmen, employees, politicians, common people, and even the police no longer feel safe. It seems like there is no government in the state, and criminals have taken control of the entire system… This crime has exposed not just the brutality of the culprits, but also the failure of the law and order system… If the police had acted in time, her life could have been saved.'
According to Manisha's family, on August 11, she left home to go to a nursing college in Singhani to enquire about her admission. As she failed to return by evening, her father informed the police via Dial-112 (Haryana police emergency response support system).
According to Manisha's family, police accompanied them to the college to inquire, where they questioned three drunk men. The men denied seeing Manisha and said the college had closed at 1 pm.
On August 13, a farmer found a young woman's body in a field near a canal in Singhani. Police, who reached the spot after being informed, identified the deceased as Manisha.
Police said that, 'Special Investigation teams have been constituted to identify and nab the accused. We are in constant touch with the victim's family members.'

Who Was Manisha? Protest Erupts In Haryana After Murder Of 19-Year-Old Teacher
Last Updated: The family has refused to perform her last rites until the police arrest the person or persons responsible for her killing A wave of public anger and political criticism has erupted in Haryana following the brutal murder of 19-year-old Manisha, a playschool teacher from Singhani village in Bhiwani district. The young woman was found dead in a field with her throat slit on August 13, two days after she went missing. Manisha had left home on August 11 to visit a nearby nursing college to enquire about admission. When she failed to return, her family approached the police, but they allege the officers refused to take their complaint seriously, suggesting she might have run away and would return on her own. The family has refused to perform her last rites until the police arrest the person or persons responsible for her killing. Protests & Demands For Justice On Sunday, hundreds of villagers blocked the Delhi-Pilani road demanding immediate action. A mahapanchayat was also held near Dhigawa Mandi, where community leaders and residents demanded justice for Manisha. A police officer in Bhiwani confirmed that six investigation teams had been formed. Manisha's post-mortem was conducted at PGIMS hospital in Rohtak, but the cause of death will be confirmed only after the forensic viscera report is completed. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Haryana Director General of Police. The incident has triggered sharp criticism from opposition parties, who accused the BJP-led Haryana government of failing to protect women and maintain law and order. Congress leader Kumari Selja called the murder 'a horrifying example of police negligence." She said police failed to act when Manisha's family first approached them. 'Had the police acted in time, perhaps Manisha would have been alive today," she said. INLD leader Abhay Chautala called the murder a 'black spot" on the government and accused the ruling party of only making hollow promises under slogans like 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'. AAP spokesperson Anurag Dhanda said the government has become a 'mute spectator" as crimes against women rise. He claimed over 4,100 people have gone missing in Haryana in the first half of 2025 alone, with more than 1,000 kidnapping cases reported. Haryana Govt Action Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, speaking in Kurukshetra on Sunday, said Manisha was 'like a daughter" and promised that all those involved in her murder won't be spared. He has ordered the transfer of Bhiwani's superintendent of police and suspended five police personnel over the matter. However, Selja has said these steps are not enough. 'The believes that the suspension of a few police personnel and the transfer of the SP is nothing but eyewash. The real culprits are still roaming free," the Congress said. 'Today, the entire state is asking: Are Haryana's daughters safe? The BJP government must answer this question," she added. view comments Location : Haryana, India, India First Published: August 18, 2025, 20:09 IST News india Who Was Manisha?
