Haryana DGP reviews emergency response vehicle operations, asks officers to improve response time

Chandigarh: Haryana director general of police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur convened a meeting with senior officers to review the functioning and performance of emergency response vehicles (ERVs), aiming to improve their efficiency.
On the occasion, the DGP said providing quick, reliable, and high-quality service to the public during emergencies is the police's top priority, and ERVs must be continuously strengthened to achieve this goal.
During the meeting, the DGP said that ERVs are the face of the police's first response, and to maintain public trust, their services must be fast, accurate, and sensitive. He directed the officers present to continuously improve ERV efficiency by reducing response time, providing regular staff training, and strengthening technical monitoring.
He further clarified that each vehicle is monitored 24/7 by police headquarters, and no negligence or indiscipline will be tolerated.
The meeting also discussed in detail the performance parameters set for ERV personnel.
Reviewing the average response time of ERVs across districts, the DGP instructed officers concerned to prepare concrete and time-bound action plans to further reduce it. He stressed that delayed ERV responses not only affect the image of the police but also hinder timely assistance to victims.

Performance Analysis through Data and Dashboard
During the meeting, representatives of the Haryana 112 team gave a detailed presentation on dashboard and data analysis systems. They explained how each ERV's location, speed, response time, and call handling are tracked in real time. Based on this data, the efficiency of each vehicle is assessed and areas needing improvement are identified.
The presentation also mentioned that a special training programme on the 'Audit Module of ERV' has been organised for ERV nodal officers and ERSS staff in each district. The training includes live demonstrations of the module, its standard operating procedures (SOPs), and first-aid guidelines.

It was followed by operations starting on May 23, in which over 50 individuals were apprehended. The subsequent operations on May 31, June 8, June 27, July 6, and August 3 led to the repatriation of over 300 individuals. He said these operations, despite the deployment of the Border Security Force across the 267.5-km stretch of the Assam-Bangladesh border, suggest that infiltration continues to be a serious challenge.

SI found dead in Adityapur playground
Jamshedpur: A sub-inspector of Jharkhand Police was found dead at Jagriti Maidan under the RIT police station limits in Adityapur of Seraikela-Kharsawan on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Arun Kumar Singh (58), was posted at RIT police station before being transferred to Ranchi in 2022. He had come to Adityapur to hand over the keys of the RIT police station storehouse to police officials. Officer in-charge of the RIT police station Sanjiv Kumar said, "Prima facie investigation found that Singh was in an inebriated state. He fell on a 20-kg boulder and sustained injuries to his head. There was an injury mark and blood stains on his head. There were no other external injuries. Stains of blood were also found on the boulder." There were no streetlights in the area where the body was found. "The body has been sent for post-mortem examination," OC Kumar added. Goldsmith killed in road accident after tempo rams into bike on Independence Day in Mumbai
Mumbai: A goldsmith from Grant Road was killed in a road accident on Independence Day while travelling on his scooter with his 15-year-old son, who was riding pillion, on Friday morning. The incident occurred when Mohammed Shaikh (42) was returning home from Chembur when his bike was hit by a speeding tempo upon reaching the BPCL plant near Sewri at 8.30 am. The Wadala police booked the tempo driver, Aziz Khan (24), who surrendered himself after the incident. The accident was witnessed by the deceased's son, Rihan Shaikh, who saw the tempo collide with their scooter, throwing both father and son onto the road. "After the incident the tempo's tyre was on Shaikh's body. Khan has been booked for death due to negligence and for rash and negligent driving. He was served notice and was later let go. Shaikh was declared dead before admission in the hospital," said a police officer of the Wadala police station. The case was registered by Police Constable Suraj Gujjar (47), attached to the Wadala police station, who was on his way to the station to attend the flag hoisting ceremony. Gujjar said he stopped at the location upon noticing a large crowd and became aware of the accident. "The boy was found at the spot while his father was run over by the tempo after it hit their scooter. We managed to remove Shaikh from below the tempo tyre and, along with the boy, rushed to the hospital. Shaikh was declared dead at 9.30 am."
