No increase in radiation levels in Egypt after strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran: ENRRA - Society
The Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) confirmed on Sunday that the country is far from any direct impact resulting from targeting uranium enrichment and conversion facilities in Iran. In a statement, ENRRA stressed that none of the countries neighbouring Iran have reported detecting any changes or increases in radiation levels. The authority also affirmed continuous monitoring around the clock of developments related to the status of nuclear facilities in the regional vicinity as events unfold. It added that it is following up on reports issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) concerning the situation at these facilities and constantly coordinating with the concerned national authorities. The statement emphasized that ENRRA is monitoring the radiation background through the Authority's radiation monitoring, alert, and early reporting system, which uses the latest radiation detection devices spread throughout the country. The authority also urged citizens to rely only on official statements as a trusted source of information in this regard. The IAEA issued a statement earlier confirming that there has been no increase in off-site radiation levels after US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Iran also confirmed that there were no signs of contamination at its nuclear sites at Isfahan, Fordo, and Natanz after US airstrikes targeted the facilities. In the early hours of Sunday, American B-2 stealth bombers unleashed several 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs against the heavily fortified Iranian nuclear sites, while US submarines launched about 30 Tomahawk missiles. No rise in Egypt radiation levels amid regional developments: Cabinet
CAIRO, June 14 (MENA) - There are no signs of increased radiation levels across the country due to potential radiation leaks amid Iranian-Israeli military escalation, the Cabinet media center said on Saturday. In a statement, the center added the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) had been monitoring the situation around the clock, particularly in relation to nuclear facilities in neighboring countries, as developments in the region unfold. 'There are no indications of any change or rise in background radiation within the Arab Republic of Egypt,' the authority said in a statement, adding that it continues to track updates through coordination with national agencies and reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Radiation levels across Egypt are being monitored through the authority's early warning and detection system, which uses advanced sensors deployed nationwide. The authority urged citizens to rely on official sources for radiological safety updates. (MENA) M A A/R G E

File- Atomic Nucleus- CC via Pixabay//geralt CAIRO – 14 June 2025: Head of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority' (ENRRA) Dr. Sami Shaaban stated that Egypt is completely safe from any radiation leak that might occur as a result of military operations in the region between Iran and Israel. In comments to Youm7, He emphasized that there are no threats to the country and the authority is closely monitoring the situation to reassure citizens around the clock. He continued that radiation monitoring devices in Egypt have been operating 24 hours a day for many years, noting that most of the information circulating on social media is inaccurate and unscientific. Israeli has launched airstrikes since June 13, 2025 against Iranian several sites, including nuclear facilities. Damages occurred to Iranian nuclear facility of Natanz without leakage of radioactive or chemical contamination outside it. Also, Israeli launched strikes against Isfahan nuclear facilities several times but no increase in off-site radiation levels has been reported so far according to the United Nation nuclear watchdog 'the Interntaional Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)' On Friday, the ENRRA announced that it is closely monitoring the radiological situation and recent developments at Iran's Natanz nuclear facility. The authority also stated that it is tracking all radiation-related developments through Egypt's national radiation monitoring, early warning, and reporting network, which spans all governorates. Iran launched a devastating missile attack on central Israel on early hours of Saturday in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes earlier that day targeting Tehran and Iranian nuclear facilities. The Israeli strikes reportedly killed hundreds, including military leaders and nuclear scientists. Dozens of Iranian missiles fell on Tel Aviv, causing widespread destruction to residential buildings and forcing hundreds to evacuate their homes. Three Israelis were killed and more than 170 others injured so far according to the Israeli MDA Ambulance amid continuing the military escalation between the both sides. Iranian TV reported that about 60 civilians, including 20 children, were killed in yesterday's Zionist attack on a 14-story residential complex in Tehran. Other more than 70 Iranian were killed on Friday. Also, Iranian media outlets reported that besides killing military leaders and nuclear scientists by the Israeli strikes on Friday, more military leaders in Iran were killed including General Gholam Reza Mharabi, deputy head of the intelligence department, and General Mehdi Rabbani, Deputy Chief of the Operations Department of the Iranian Armed Forces.
