In attacks across 39 sites in Balochistan, BLA targets Pakistan police and military infrastructure

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has taken responsibility for a wave of coordinated attacks carried out at 39 separate sites throughout Balochistan, reported the news agency ANI. In a press statement, the group stated that the operations are still underway and aim to achieve several strategic goals. The BLA's recent activities signal a sharp escalation in its long-running demand for autonomy and control of local resources in Balochistan. The recent attacks have targeted local police stations, military convoys, and infrastructure along major highways, including blockades on key roads, news agency ANI cited Jeeyand Baloch, a spokesperson for the BLA, as saying. The group's spokesperson stated that a detailed statement regarding the attacks will be released to the media shortly. In a troubling sign of escalating repression, the Pakistan Army arrested a 75-year-old prominent Baloch activist, Zaheer Baloch, during Eid ul-Fitr celebrations in Quetta, reported ANI. Sammi Deen Baloch, a prominent Baloch activist, condemned the arrest in a post on the social media platform X. She wrote, "A 75-year-old man, Zaheer Baloch, was arrested on the day of Eid ul-Fitr in Quetta for participating in a peaceful protest held by the families of missing persons and expressing solidarity with them." Deen Baloch criticized the state's violent response to the peaceful protest, where families had gathered to demand the return of their loved ones. Balochistan has been the center of separatist movements for years, driven by political marginalization, economic exploitation, and military repression by the Pakistani state. The Baloch Liberation Army, seeking independence, criticizes the extraction of the region's natural resources without benefiting the local population and condemns the government's denial of Baloch rights. According to Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International cited by the news agency, Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies have allegedly abducted or killed thousands of Baloch activists, students, journalists, and political workers over the years.

Their house was allegedly ransacked .during the violence. 'The West Bengal STF came to Jharsuguda district. Rats and rubbish mar Indonesia's vision of a futuristic new capital

As thousands of tourists poured into the site of Indonesia 's under-construction new capital during the Eid ul-Fitr holiday, they were greeted not only by gleaming new government buildings rising from the forest, but also by a less welcome sight: rats. Advertisement Videos of rodents darting through crowds in Nusantara, the planned capital city on Borneo island, have been making the rounds on Indonesian social media in recent days. In response, the Nusantara Capital Authority has deployed hundreds of rat traps and promised additional sanitation measures, in a scramble to contain the pest problem before it tarnishes the city's ambitions of becoming a hi-tech, eco-friendly metropolis. 'This used to be a forested, hilly area,' said Thomas Umbu Pati Tena, the authority's deputy for development control. 'Naturally, there are many old rat nests. But we're not sitting idle. Our health and community teams are already working on this.' Videos of rodents darting through crowds in Nusantara have been making the rounds on Indonesian social media in recent days. Photo: Shutterstock The US$32 billion project to relocate the national capital from Jakarta – a congested and sinking megacity – to the heart of Borneo has been internationally promoted as a 'smart and sustainable' urban hub showcasing climate-conscious design and a reduced ecological footprint. Advertisement Construction began in earnest in 2022, with the city slated to eventually house up to 1.9 million residents.

Yemen: US strikes kill 2 civilians, injure 4 others

US airstrikes targeted the Hafsin area west of Saada in northern Yemen on Saturday evening , killing two civilians and wounding four others. Yemen's Saba news agency quoted a source that four air raids were launched in the area. The denial came in response to President Donald Trump's post on X, who shared a video purportedly showing the strike's aftermath. The source claimed the footage instead depicted 'a tribal gathering of villagers celebrating Eid ul-Fitr in the coastal city of Hodeidah,' asserting that the individuals present had no connection to military activities. There was no immediate confirmation from US Central Command regarding the airstrikes or the nature of the target. The strike comes amid escalating tensions following President Donald Trump's warning that 'YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP!" The Houthis initiated their attacks on Israel-linked vessels in the Red Sea in November 2023, to pressure for humanitarian aid access to Gaza. A ceasefire in January 2025 led to a temporary halt in these attacks, until the collapse of the truce and Israel's resumption of military operations in Gaza, when the Houthis declared the resumption of their attacks.

Yemen: US strikes kill 2 civilians, injure 4 others

Shafaq News/ US airstrikes targeted the Hafsin area west of Saada in northern Yemen on Saturday, killing two civilians and wounding four others. Yemen's Saba news agency quoted a source that four air raids were launched in the area. The source denied US claims that the strikes had targeted a gathering of military leaders preparing maritime operations. The denial came in response to President Donald Trump's post on X, who shared a video purportedly showing the strike's aftermath. These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 4, 2025 The source claimed the footage instead depicted 'a tribal gathering of villagers celebrating Eid ul-Fitr in the coastal city of Hodeidah,' asserting that the individuals present had no connection to military activities. "The American crime resulted in dozens of casualties and reflects Washington's failure in its aggression against Yemen," the source said, vowing that the "heinous crime" would not go unpunished and that the Yemeni armed forces would continue to respond to US actions. Exclusive Source to Saba News Agency: We categorically reject the claims made by the criminal U.S. President Donald Trump regarding what he described as a strike targeting a meeting of military leaders allegedly preparing naval operations. #وكالة_سبأ — سبأ (@alsyasiah) April 5, 2025 There was no immediate confirmation from US Central Command regarding the airstrikes or the nature of the target.
