India's richest actor with ₹7500 crore net worth, no release over a year, yet outshines Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan
Indian film industry where fame is fleeting and fortunes can rise and fall overnight, this actor has quietly built an empire and reputation for himself that goes beyond the silver screen. India's richest actor isn't just a star; he's a master of smart choices on and off-screen with a whooping net worth of ₹ 7500 crore, more than the combined net worth of Indian superstars like Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. India's richest actor is none other than Shah Rukh Khan. In February 2025, Esquire Magazine revealed its annual list of the richest actors around the globe. Shah Rukh made it to the list with estimates of his net worth at $876.5 million (roughly ₹ 7500 crore), making him the fourth-richest actor in the world. While the Badshah of Bollywood is only behind Hollywood legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger ($1.49 billion), Dwayne Johnson ($1.19 billion), and Tom Cruise ($891 million) on the Esquire list, he also surpassed actors including George Clooney ($742.8 million), Robert de Niro ($735.5 million), and Brad Pitt ($594.2 million) with his wealth. Back home in India, Shah Rukh Khan's net worth leaves his industry mates behind by a wide margin. While top stars like Salman Khan ( ₹ 2,900 crore), Hrithik Roshan ( ₹ 3,100 crore), Aamir Khan ( ₹ 1,900 crore), and Akshay Kumar ( ₹ 2,500 crore) boast impressive fortunes, they are still nowhere close to Shah Rukh's financial standing. Even Amitabh Bachchan ( ₹ 1,600 crore), Chiranjeevi ( ₹ 1,650 crore), and Nagarjuna ( ₹ 3,000 crore) who made their debut before Shah Rukh are yet to catch up to the richest actor in India. Notably, the only Indian actor who is the most close to Shah Rukh Khan's staggering net worth is his own friend, co-star and business partner, Juhi Chawla. She is India's richest actress with an estimated net worth of ₹ 4600 crore. Wondering where does her wealth come from? Shah Rukh Khan made his Bollywood debut with the romantic drama Deewana (1992) after foraying into the entertainment industry with the Doordarshan series Fauji (1988). He rose to fame with the 1993 thrillers Baazigar and Darr and went on to star in hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001) and the list goes on. The actor had a setback after the failure of his film, Zero (2018). He made a strong comeback with YRF's Pathaan (2023), which broke several records at the box office, including the first Bollywood movie to gross over ₹ 100 crore globally on its opening day. His next was Atlee's Jawan, which was also released in the same year and became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. His last release was Rajkummar Hirani's Dunki which was met with mixed reviews from fans and critics. Dunki grossed ₹ 470.6 crore worldwide, but the film failed to live upto the expectations, replicating the success of Jawan and Pathaan. In fact, the filmmaker Rajkummar Hirani admitted that his film didn't live up to expectations in an interview with Komal Nahta. When asked "One film that did worse than you anticipated at the box office," he simply replied with Dunki.

Robert Benton death: Oscar-winning director of Kramer vs. Kramer dies aged 92
Robert Benton, best known for writing and directing the 1979 Best Picture Oscar winner Kramer vs. Kramer, has died aged 92. Benton's death was confirmed Tuesday to The New York Times by Marisa Forzano, his longtime assistant and manager. A cause of death has not yet been shared. A three-time Oscar winner, Benton won trophies for his writing and directing work on Kramer vs. Kramer. His third Oscar came from his screenplay for the 1985 film Places in the Heart, which he also directed. Benton worked with dozens of powerhouse actors, several of whom won Oscars starring in a film he directed. Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep each took home acting Oscars for their work on Kramer vs. Kramer, while Sally Field won her trophy for Places in the Heart. In addition to Kramer vs. Kramer, Benton collaborated with David Newman on the Oscar-nominated screenplay for Bonnie and Clyde, a film that redefined American cinema in the 1960s. The two crossed paths while Benton was an art director at Esquire Magazine, where Newman previously worked. Their partnership continued with the 1970 film There Was a Crooked Man and 1972's What's Up, Doc?. The duo also contributed to 1972's Oh Calcutta! and the 1978 hit Superman. Benton's notable directorial credits also included the 1972 western film Bad Company, 1977's The Late Show, 1994's Nobody's Fool, and 1998's Twilight. Fans have been saddened to hear the news of Benton's death, sharing tributes on social media. 'Robert Benton, a brilliant director. His masterpieces, *Kramer vs. Kramer* and *Bonnie and Clyde*, blended heart and wit, earning Oscars and timeless admiration. Rest in peace, and thank you for your cinematic legacy,' one wrote on X. 'Lights, camera, silence! Robert Benton, the man behind 'Kramer vs Kramer,' passed away at 92. His movies touched hearts, won awards. A true legend is gone,' another shared. 'He was one of my all time favorites. He was the best for writing naturalistic sounding conversations imo. Wrote many of my faves over the years,' someone wrote of Benton on Facebook. A former co-worker of Benton's wrote on Facebook: 'Gutted to hear of Robert's passing. I am so very thankful I had the distinct honor to work for this great man. Director, writer, producer and gentleman. There simply is no one working today that comes close to his level. The way he treated his cast and crew was unmatched.'

World's richest actor is a 77-yr-old with no film in years but $1.49B wealth; beat Tom Cruise, Shah Rukh, Dwayne Johnson
A new list of the world's wealthiest actors was released by Esquire Magazine earlier this year. The list, which ranks acting superstars based on their current net worth, throws up quite a few surprises and also omits a few names that rival publication Forbes includes. But perhaps the biggest surprise is right up top - as a 77-year-old who has seen no new release in 6 years has topped the list. (Also read: World's richest actress has $8-billion wealth but no hit films; richer than Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Rihanna combined) According to Esquire, action superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger is the richest actor in the world with a massive net worth of $1.49 billion. Since first becoming a billionaire in January, Arnold has increased his holdings significantly. To many, Arnold sitting at the top, way ahead of reigning superstars like Dwayne Johnson, Tom Cruise, and Shah Rukh Khan, may be surprising. More so because Arnold's last theatrical release was Terminator: Dark Fate back in 2019. The star has not been seen in a film in six years, but will mark his big-screen comeback with two projects this year - Kung Fury 2 and The Man with the Bag. Esquire notes that Arnold's rise to billionaire status has been on the back of his smart investments. "He gained entry into the three comma club primarily by pouring his earnings into real estate, from his earliest days as an actor. As a result, he now owns a vast real estate empire along with a 5% stake in one of the world's biggest investment firms," says his citation in the report. (Also read: World's richest actress has $8-billion wealth but no hit films; richer than Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Rihanna combined) In the second spot on Esquire's list is Dwayne Johnson. The wrestler-turned-actor has a net worth of $1.19 billion, largely due to his stake in the $2-billion Teremana Tequila. Tom Cruise comes in the third spot with a net worth of $891 million, followed by Asia's richest actor, Shah Rukh Khan, who rounds off the top 4 with a net worth of $876 million, according to Esquire. The others in the top 10 include George Clooney, Robert de Niro, Brad Pitt, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, and Jackie Chan. Esquire's list also excludes people not known primarily for acting. So names like Tyler Perry (studio executive and also an actor) and Jerry Seinfeld (stand-up comic) do not feature here, even though they have both acted in multiple films and are both billionaires.

‘I'm Shah Rukh': At Met Gala debut, Shah Rukh Khan asked to introduce himself, fans outraged
Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his debut at the Met Gala blue carpet on Tuesday (May 6, 2025, India time) in New York, dazzling in an all-black Sabyasachi ensemble. It was a historic moment as Khan became the first Indian male actor to attend the Met—along with Diljit Dosanjh. Even as many around the world tuned in for Khan's iconic debut, a section of the western press covering the event live seemed unaware of his global stature, with one reporter seemingly asking him his name. In one of the clips that have gone viral from the event, SRK is heard introducing himself to reporters, saying, 'I'm Shah Rukh.' One of the biggest stars of Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan is the fourth richest actor in the world, according to a recent list by Esquire Magazine. Khan's films have transcended borders and left a lasting impact on global popular culture. As such, fans on social media were understandably outraged with a part of the media covering the MET. Terms such as 'clueless' and 'disrespectful' were used in posts decrying the treatment meted out to Khan. The incident has an echo of tennis player Maria Sharapova once saying she did not know who Sachin Tendulkar was. Besides Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kiara Advani and designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee from India walked the blue carpet at the Met Gala 2025. The Met Gala is dubbed one of fashion's shiniest nights, held annually on the first Monday (ET) of May. It is an annual fundraising affair for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. This year, the Institute's spring exhibit, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' was the official theme of the night, spotlighting the sartorial tradition of Black Dandyism.
