Two from Warangal in top 50 in UPSC, state scheme a blessing for 7 beneficiaries

HYDERABAD: Warangal was the toast of Telangana on Tuesday with two candidates from the city making it to the top 50 in the UPSC Mains examination. Ettaboyina Sai Shivani achieved All India Rank 11 while Ravula Jayasimha Reddy secured AIR 46. A total of 1,009 candidates qualified nationwide, with several successful aspirants from Telangana. Sai Shivani, daughter of E Raju, a medical representative, succeeded in her second attempt. Jayasimha Reddy, an IIT-Hyderabad graduate in electrical engineering, is currently undergoing IPS training. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy congratulated the seven candidates who received financial assistance under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhayahastam scheme, and successfully cleared the UPSC Civils. In a message, the chief minister said that it was a matter of great pride that seven beneficiaries of the scheme were selected for the prestigious Civil Services in the very first year of its launch. The candidates who received financial assistance under the state government's scheme and cleared the examination are: Ettaboyina Sai Shivani, Hari Prasad Potharaju, Preethi Raparthi, Nagaraja Naik Banothu, Suryateja Thogaru, Anjaneyulu Gokamalla and Ramtenki Sudhaker. IITH graduate achieves 46 rank in Civils in fifth attempt Jayasimha Reddy, an IIT-Hyderabad graduate in electrical engineering, is currently undergoing IPS training. He had previously cleared the exam in his third attempt, ranking 104, and later achieved AIR 46 in his fifth attempt to join the IAS. Son of an agricultural scientist, Jayasimha has shown a consistent interest in agriculture and rural development. He told TNIE: 'I have always wanted to serve society and contribute to addressing developmental challenges. Agriculture, healthcare, and education are my areas of interest.' Jayasimha noted the importance of enjoying the preparation process, staying focused, and seeking regular feedback and guidance from mentors. Among other achievers from the state was S Saikiran from Mannanur village, Nagarkurnool district, who secured AIR 298. He belongs to a Dalit background and is the son of a farmer; his success has been received with joy by his community. Another candidate, Annu Koushik Narasimha, son of Deputy Superintendent of Police A Venugopal, secured AIR 225. An alumnus of IIT Roorkee with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Koushik received congratulations from Director General of Police Dr Jitender.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness, stating that it is a matter of great pride that seven beneficiaries of the scheme were selected for the prestigious Civil Services in the very first year of its launch by the also extended his congratulations to all the successful candidates from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and other parts of the country. The Chief Minister said, 'I wish them all the very best and hope to see them play a pivotal role in the service of the nation and in nation-building.' He reaffirmed the #Telangana Government's deep commitment to supporting and empowering youth in realising their dreams and aspirations. 24-year-old Warangal woman emerges topper in civils from Telangana

Hyderabad: Keeping with the national trend, Telangana also saw a woman top the charts in the Civil Service Examination 2024 , conducted by the UPSC . Ettaboyina Sai Shivani from Warangal secured AIR 11 to emerge as the state topper. In the country, Shakti Dubey from Uttar Pradesh secured the top spot. Shivani showed remarkable improvement in her second attempt, in which she managed to get the IAS cadre, whereas, in her first attempt, she failed to clear prelims. "I narrowly missed qualifying for mains in my first attempt," said the 24-year-old. "I took my preparation more seriously after that. Though I did not take any coaching to prepare for the exam, I took online guidance, especially to improve my writing skills." Shivani said that she spent most of her time fine-tuning how to write answers. "My concentration was on content, presentation, and also value addition in each answer," said the electronics and communications engineering student from IIIT-Ongole. Shivani is among the seven beneficiaries of the Telangana govt's Rajiv Civils Abhaya Hastham who made it to the final list. "I was sure that my name would be on the final list. But, I never imagined that I would be the state topper or get eleventh rank," she added. From the two Telugu states, three students secured a spot in the top 50. Along with Shivani, two others — Banna Venkatesh and Jayasimha Reddy Ravula — made it to the top 50. In total, about 35 candidates from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh featured in the final list, in which 1,009 candidates were selected. "I always wanted more out of my job. I wanted it to be meaningful and work for the greater good," said Kshitij Aditya Sharma, NALSAR, Hyderabad alumni, who is currently an IRS officer in Bhopal. Sharma, who secured AIR 58, said he worked as a corporate lawyer for three years after completing law but decided to try his hand at UPSC after the Covid-19 second wave. This is his third attempt. Saichaitanya Jadhav, who secured AIR 68, managed to get his name on the final list in his sixth attempt. "All my previous attempts were unsuccessful," said Jadhav, who is the son of a head constable. He moved to Hyderabad in 2019. This year, a total of 4,25,60 candidates appeared for the preliminary examination from the two Telugu states. About 500 of them qualified for mains and over 75 for the personality test.

Seven candidates from Telangana, including All-India Rank 11 Ettaboyina Sai Shivani of Warangal (Urban), featured in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination 2024 results, declared on Tuesday. As per initial reports, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana produced 33 ranks in the list of 1,009 ranks. According to Telangana Chief Minister's Office's post on X, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the seven rankers, who were also beneficiaries of ₹1 lakh assistance through Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhayahastam scheme in August 2024. The successful candidates include Ettaboyina Sai Shivani (AIR 11), Hari Prasad Potharaju (255) of Warangal, Preethi Raparthi (451) of Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nagaraja Naik Banothu (697) of Khammam, Suryateja Thogaru (799) of Rangareddy, Anjaneyulu Gokamalla (934) of Nagarkurnool, and Ramtenki Sudhaker (949) Komuram Bheem Asifabad. 'I wish them all the very best and hope to see them play a pivotal role in the service of the nation and in nation-building,' the CMO quoted Mr. Reddy as saying. Hyderabad's IAS coaching centres claim top ranks Firecrackers, photographs, and press releases conveyed the jubilation of civil services coaching centres in Hyderabad's Ashok Nagar, the hub of civil services exam preparation. According to a release from Analog IAS academy, it secured 90 ranks or 9% of the total 1,009 ranks declared. 'For every coaching centre, there are two important dreams — to achieve all-India rank one and securing a hundred ranks, which we achieved in 2021. The results achieved today are synonymous with the kind of teaching methodologies we adopted,' its director Srikanth Vinnakota stated. Its list of the 90 successful candidates includes 10 ranks below the first 100. For CSB IAS academy run by Bala Latha Mallavarapu, a preliminary verification showed it secured over 15 ranks. The academy listed nine ranks including 46 and 68. Another prominent academy — RC Reddy IAS Study Crcle — in its success meet held at its office claimed securing over 27 ranks, including 46, 68 and 94, and other top performers who availed its various courses. 'The success of our aspirants, including those from rural and lower-middle-class backgrounds, is a testament to the dedication and hard work they put into their preparation. We strive to provide the necessary exam-oriented guidance that empowers them to achieve their dreams,' its founder R. C. Reddy stated. According to Dr. Rambabu Paladugu of La Excellence IAS academy, the number of selections from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana this year is 78 and more than 13 are in the top-100. As per his observation, most of the selected students hail from middle-class background, many of their parents are teachers or employees in government service, and the finalists are senior students who had prepared in groups.
