Where Auburn baseball stands in D1Baseball's latest bracketology

Where Auburn baseball stands in D1Baseball's latest bracketology Are Auburn's national seed chances disappearing after losing to Texas A&M? Auburn baseball dipped from the SEC Baseball Tournament early by falling to Texas A&M on Thursday, 3-2, at the Hoover Met. The Tigers were projected to secure the No. 6 seed in D1Baseball's Field of 64 projections before the Texas A&M game. How much did the loss affect their chances of locking in a national seed? According to D1Baseball's latest bracketology update, Auburn is safe. However, their chances to secure a top-eight seed are wearing thin. D1Baseball dropped Auburn from No. 6 to No. 7 in its Friday update, with Duke, Troy, and Long Island projected to travel to the Plains next weekend for the Auburn regional at Plainsman Park. In the latest projection, the Auburn regional is paired with the Conway regional, which Coastal Carolina would host. Auburn is one seed above Oregon in Friday's update, with Oregon State, Coastal Carolina, and Florida State on the outside. Auburn fell one spot in the RPI to No. 3 following the loss to Texas A&M. However, neither of the teams behind Auburn in the Field of 64 are above them. Auburn holds the nation's toughest schedule, with neither of Auburn's closest competitors possessing a strength of schedule higher than No. 26 (Oregon). The Tigers are also 15-12 against quad-1 competition while Florida State is 12-9, Oregon State is 10-9, Oregon is 9-1, and Coastal Carolina is 4-5. With two days remaining until regional hosts are identified, Auburn should feel confident in its chances to host a regional for the third time in four years and be in a position to host a super regional for the first time ever. However, many conferences have yet to determine a championship, and the postseason picture could shake up significantly before the dust finally settles. Auburn bows out of SEC Baseball Tournament with loss to Texas A&M

Auburn bows out of SEC Baseball Tournament with loss to Texas A&M The red-hot Aggies got the best of Auburn with just one swing of the bat. The Auburn Tigers out-produced Texas A&M offensively in Thursday's SEC Baseball Tournament action. However, the Aggies produced the loudest hit of the day. Both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings of the game before Texas A&M grabbed momentum in the 3rd inning. Terrence Kiel led off the inning with a single, followed by Sawyer Farr reaching base after being hit by a pitch. Those events paved the way for Kaeden Kent to smash a three-run home run to right field to push the Aggies ahead, 3-0. Auburn answered with solo home runs by Eric Snow and Lucas Steele in the 5th and 9th innings respectively, but Kent's 3rd inning home run made the difference as Texas A&M stunned Auburn, 3-2, at the Hoover Met. Despite the loss, Auburn out-hit the Aggies, 6-4, and struck out just six times compared to Texas A&M's 14. Auburn also stranded five runners while the Aggies left seven runners on base. Auburn held advantages in many categories, but one swing of the bat was all Texas A&M needed to escape with the win and boost its chances of making the NCAA Tournament. Eric Snow paced Auburn with two hits while Eric Guevara, Ike Irish, Lucas Steele, and Cade Belyeu all added one apiece. Cam Tilly struck out six batters in his three-inning start, walking one and allowing two hits with his lone blemish being the three-run home run to Kent. Carson Myers struck out five batters over four innings and Cade Fisher added three more strikeouts over two innings. Texas A&M batters recorded two hits total off of Myers and Fisher. The Tigers will now return to the Plains to prepare for the NCAA Tournament. The host sites for this year's NCAA Tournament will be revealed Sunday, and the tournament field will be announced at 11 a.m. CT Monday. Before the SEC Tournament, Auburn was projected to earn the No. 6 national seed according to D1Baseball's Field of 64 update, and will hope to secure a national seed in Sunday's reveal. New NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama baseball after takedown of top-ranked Georgia

New NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama baseball after takedown of top-ranked Georgia Alabama baseball is coming off arguably its best week of the 2025 college baseball season to date. The Crimson Tide jumped out to a big lead over a Top 25 Troy Trojans team on May 6 for a 10-2 win on the road and followed it up by taking two of three from a Georgia Bulldogs team that was ranked in the top five nationally, including No. 1 in Baseball America's rankings. Kade Snell, Justin Lebron, Bryce Fowler and Richie Bonomolo had big performances in helping the Crimson Tide quickly forget an ugly 19-3 loss on Friday and rally for a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. Alabama, up four spots to No. 16 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is now 39-13 overall and 15-12 in SEC play entering the final weekend of the regular season. The Crimson Tide also rose four spots in the RPI to No. 8 after beating Georgia and will face the Florida Gators beginning Thursday in Gainesville. Here are the latest postseason projections for Alabama from Baseball America, D1 Baseball, On3 and others. Alabama baseball NCAA Tournament projections: Will Crimson Tide host a regional? Here's where the major outlets see Alabama on the seed line for the 2025 NCAA Tournament entering the final weekend of SEC regular season play. Baseball America: Alabama is No. 12 overall seed, hosting Wake Forest (34-18), UConn (33-19) and Fairfield (36-15) in Tuscaloosa Regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. D1 Baseball: Alabama is No. 14 overall seed, hosting Southern Miss (38-13), Arizona State (35-18) and Missouri State (27-22) in Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tennessean: Alabama is No. 10 overall seed, hosting Clemson (38-15), Northeastern (41-9) and Wright State (32-17) in Tuscaloosa Regional. On3: Alabama is No. 11 overall seed, hosting West Virginia (40-10), East Tennessee State (37-13), and Austin Peay (40-12) in Tuscaloosa Regional. "Alabama's series win over Georgia was massive for their hosting chances, and they slide into the top 16 as our No. 11 seed in this week's Field of 64," On3's Jonathan Wagner said earlier this week. "The Crimson Tide are 39-13 overall, 15-12 in the SEC and No. 8 in RPI, with a 12-9 Q1 record. If they earn a series win over Florida to end the regular season, top eight becomes a strong possibility, and they're already in the discussion. West Virginia is still in the mix to host, but their RPI is trending the wrong way. They're the first or second team off of the top 16 currently." Baseball America moved Alabama back into its list of regional site hosts after the series win over Georgia, dropping West Virginia below the Crimson Tide on the seed line. D1 Baseball also moved Alabama back in as a projected host site with a top 25 Southern Miss team. The Golden Eagles are No. 30 in RPI and ranked No. 19 in the Coaches Poll. The Tennessean's Aria Gerson has Alabama just below Coastal Carolina and one spot ahead of the Oregon Ducks in her NCAA Tournament bracket predictions. Top five NCAA Baseball Tournament seed projections, updated May 14 Despite losing back-to-back weekend series (to Arkansas and Florida), the Texas Longhorns (40-10) remain the projected No. 1 overall seed by the four outlets mentioned above. Baseball America has LSU as the No. 2 seed, Auburn at No. 3, Georgia at No. 4, and Arkansas rounding out the top five seeds. D1 Baseball also has LSU as the No. 2 seed, but with Arkansas at No. 3. Florida State and Vanderbilt round out the top five seeds after the Commodores' big series win in Knoxville. On3 moved Auburn up to its projected No. 2 overall seed. Alabama schedule 2025 The Crimson Tide travel to Gainesville to face a surging Florida (35-18 overall, 13-14 SEC) team that has won five straight weekend series. Alabama and Florida begin the final weekend of the regular season at 5:30 p.m. CT Thursday. The series can be streamed on SEC Network+. Auburn baseball's postseason outlook ahead of South Carolina series

Auburn baseball's postseason outlook ahead of South Carolina series Auburn is in great standing to host an NCAA regional with two weeks to go in the regular season. Ahead of last weekend's series at Tennessee, the Auburn Tigers were projected to host a regional in D1Baseball's Field of 64 projections as the No. 14 overall seed. Now, the Tigers are in a prime position to host both a regional and a super regional in the publication's updated outlook. D1Baseball has boosted the Tigers' postseason stock in its most recent update released Tuesday, moving Auburn from No. 14 to No. 6 in their Field of 64 projections, which would be good enough to earn a hosting bid for both regionals and super regionals. Southern Miss, Stetson, and Bryant are projected to travel to Auburn for the regionals, and the winner would be paired with Coastal Carolina, which is this week's No. 11 seed. Coastal would host NC State, Florida, and High Point as part of their regional, according to D1Baseball. D1Baseball projects the SEC to send 14 teams to the postseason, with seven in position to host a regional. Auburn has moved one place in the RPI since Sunday's finale at Tennessee to No. 3, trailing just Georgia and Texas for the top spot. The Tigers are one of three teams with at least 13 wins against quad-1 competition, joining Texas and Vanderbilt. Auburn is also 6-1 against quad-3 competition, which is where South Carolina resides ahead of this weekend's series at Plainsman Park. Auburn's series with South Carolina begins Thursday at 6 p.m. CT. Where does Auburn baseball stand in D1Baseball's Field of 64 before the Tennessee series?

Where does Auburn baseball stand in D1Baseball's Field of 64 before the Tennessee series? How much would Auburn benefit from a successful weekend in Knoxville? The No. 11 Auburn Tigers will travel to Knoxville this weekend to face No. 6 Tennessee in what will be a crucial series for both SEC standings and NCAA Tournament seeding. The Tigers are considered a host team for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, according to D1Baseball's latest "Field of 64" projection as a No. 14 seed. By D1Baseball's projections, Auburn will host Southern Miss, Miami (FL), and Ball State. Auburn's regional is paired with No. 3 Florida State, which is slated to host Troy, Florida, and Bethune-Cookman. Playing the hypothetical game, Auburn would travel to Tallahassee to face the Seminoles in the Super Regional round should both Auburn and Florida State win their respective regionals. However, Auburn could boost its stock in the NCAA Tournament picture with a successful weekend in Knoxville. The Volunteers rank No. 6 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, and grabbed the No. 6 overall seed in D1Baseball's latest projection, paired with No. 11 Oregon State. Auburn owns series wins over top-25 programs such as Kentucky, Alabama, and LSU, and a series win over Tennessee in their home ballpark would surely shoot Auburn into a top-eight seed. To achieve that goal, Auburn will need to limit Tennessee's ability to hit home runs and create more strikeout opportunities. The Volunteers are second in the SEC with 100 home runs heading into the series with 325 combined strikeouts. At the plate, Auburn needs to continue being patient and waiting for the right pitch to drive. The Tigers have struck out the fewest times in the SEC, with 307 total. Auburn is also among the SEC's best in extra-base hits with 91, which pairs with its 59 home runs. Auburn's SEC showdown with Tennessee begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
