For it, head to Deepscorn Hollow , which is located southeast of Leyawiin. Next, dive into the submerged ruins and finally navigate to the cloister. Rob Font after another betting upset at UFC Fight Night 252: 'Put some respect on my name'
SEATTLE – For the second straight fight, Rob Font conquered the task of a young up-and-comer placed in front of him by the UFC. On the UFC Fight Night 252 main card Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena, Font (22-8 MMA, 12-7 UFC) handed Jean Matsumoto (16-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) his first career loss in exciting fashion. 'I was the underdog in this one, too?' Font said to reporters including MMA Junkie upon learning the odds at a post-fight news conference. 'Come on, man. You've got to put some respect on my name, man.' Font, 37, has been in the promotion since 2014. For years, he's fought top-ranked competition including the likes of Jose Aldo, Cory Sandhagen, Deiveson Figueiredo and Marlon Vera. After a 1-4 stretch, Font switched training camp locations and went to Tristar in Montreal to train under coach Firas Zahabi. He's 2-0 since, also having defeated Kyler Phillips in October. He says confidence in the wrestling has been the biggest X-factor change in his game. 'I think before I was trying so hard not to get taken down,' Font said, of what's changed in camp. 'Obviously, I'm still working my takedown defense and all that. I just got a new confidence of getting back to my feet. Even when I first got to Tristar, we was working double-leg scrambles, single-leg scrambles. I'm getting taken down often. It's not like I'm just stopping takedowns. I'm getting taken down but I feel like I'm getting so much better at getting back to my feet. Then, when I do start stopping takedowns, that's when I'm like, 'Oh, let's go.' 'When you do take me down, I'm popping up. The moment I start digging my double-underhooks and sprawling and facing ahead, it's going to be a problem for a lot of people. I'm almost there. I'm still figuring it out. It doesn't come as natural to me, but I'm getting there.' Back on a winning streak for the first time since 2021, Font hopes to keep the momentum rolling. While he's done well against rising bantamweights, Font wants a more established name next time out. 'I hope, I hope,' Font said. 'Obviously, I went from fighting at GOAT like Dominick Cruz to fighting not necessarily a newcomer but a guy who only has two fights in the UFC, is 16-0. He's really, really impressive, super strong, talented. Obviously I'm two wins in a row. Hopefully it gets me back in there with another top name. We'll find out soon. Rob Font vs. Jean Matsumoto prediction, pick, start time for UFC Fight Night 252
Rob Font and Jean Matsumoto meet Saturday on the UFC Fight Night 252 main card at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-2-1 UFC main cards, 2025: 10-10-1 Rob Font vs. Jean Matsumoto UFC Seattle preview Font (21-8 MMA, 11-7 UFC) has experienced mixed results of late, snapping two-fight skids twice while losing four of his past six. Font is coming off a unanimous decision over Kyle Phillips last October. A victory would give Font his first winning streak since 2021. … Matsumoto (16-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is a 2023 Dana White's Contender Series alum who's won his first two UFC bouts, most recently a unanimous decision against Brad Katona last October. Rob Font vs. Jean Matsumoto UFC Seattle expert pick, prediction Despite having Dominick Cruz drop out of the main event, the UFC matchmakers were able to salvage the Font side of the equation by booking Matsumoto on short notice. Matsumoto was originally slated to fight in two weeks, so the 25-year-old won't exactly be coming off the couch. The UFC was nice enough to book this at a catchweight of 140 pounds due to the one-week's notice nature of it all, but that could ultimately benefit Font, who is big for the division. I was admittedly surprised to see Matsumoto favored, but I'm guessing that the oddsmakers like the age gap, accompanied by the fact that Matsumoto can be an aggressive grappler in spots. Couple that with Font's porous takedown defense percentage, and the potential pathway for the Brazilian becomes a bit more clear. However, when you actually go back and watch the tape, you'll see that Font has quietly improved his defense along the fence (a place where Matsumoto makes a majority of his attempts). In addition, Font has also sharpened his transitional grappling and getup game, utilizing underhooks in conjunction with wall walks or using butterflies to create space and invert. The important thing to note about the options listed above is that none of them involve serious front-headlock exposure, which is the area where Matsumoto makes his money. Matsumoto also has power on the feet, but his lack of head movement and angles could feed him right into the collar ties of Font. I suppose Font crapping the bed isn't out of the equation, but I really like the chances of the New England native in this spot. A club and sub for the American is quietly on the table, but I'll officially pick Font to take this one on the scorecards. Rob Font vs. Jean Matsumoto UFC Seattle odds The oddsmakers and the public are slightly favoring the Brazilian fighter, listing Matsumoto (-168) and Font (+136) via FanDuel. Rob Font vs. Jean Matsumoto UFC Seattle start time, how to watch Font and Matsumoto are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 10:10 p.m. ET. The fight will stream on ESPN+. UFC Fight Night 252: Font vs. Matsumoto odds, picks and predictions
In a 3-round catch weight bout on the main card, Rob Font and Jean Matsumoto meet at UFC Fight Night 252 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 110 and UFC Seattle — Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's UFC odds around the UFC Fight Night 252: Font vs. Matsumoto odds, and make our expert picks and predictions. The prelims start at 6 p.m. ET (ESPN+), with the main card starting at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Records: Font (21-8-0) | Matsumoto (16-0-0) The veteran Font was expected to face Dominick Cruz in this event, but the latter not only ended up withdrawing from the fight, but he announced his retirement due to a bevy of injuries. Raul Rosas Jr. was considered as a replacement, and Chris Gutierrez was also a possibility, according to MMA Junkie, but Matsumoto was chosen for this catch-weight fight instead. Font stopped Kyler Phillips via unanimous decision last time out on Oct. 19, halting a 2-bout streak and a 1-4 skid in his previous 5 fights. He has ended up going the distance in 6 of the past 7 bouts, with the lone exception a Round 1 KO/TKO of Adrian Yanez at UFC 287. He has gone the distance in 9 of his past 11 fights, too. Matsumoto is just 25 years old, and a relative newcomer to the UFC promotion. While Font has been with the company since 2014, the Brazilian Team Muay Thai fighter Matsumoto has just 2 UFC fights under his belt since a submission debut win over Dan Argueta in a Fight Night April 6, 2024. He also topped Brad Katona Oct. 19 via unanimous decision at a Fight Night in the UFC Apex. There isn't much sense getting into the tale of the tape, as Matsumoto just doesn't have the sample size yet, while Font's has a ton of stats. He is 37, while Matsumoto is just 25. The key here is that Font has a 3-inch reach advantage and a ton of experience in the octagon. Both fighters are big punchers, and Matsumoto can be dangerous with the head kicks. Honestly, this is a pretty even fight, with the only difference being age, experience level and reach. Watch this card with ESPN+ by signing up here. UFC Fight Night 252: Font vs. Matsumoto odds Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:40 a.m. ET. Fight result (2-way line) : Font +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Matsumoto -160 (bet $160 to win $100) : Font +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Matsumoto -160 (bet $160 to win $100) Will the fight go the distance? (Yes -300 | No +220) UFC Fight Night 252: Font vs. Matsumoto picks and predictions We have experience vs. youth and power. Which one will win out? It's a tough call, as FONT (+135) has been around a while, and he is tough as nails. Matsumoto (-160) is a fighter with a very bright future in the company. However, Font is in the final days of his career, and looking to finish up strong. While Matsumoto has been impressive to this point, and he has youth on his side, this will be his biggest test yet, and it comes on rather short notice. While Matsumoto has yet to taste defeat in his mixed martial arts career at any level, Font should be able to use his experience to wow the judges into enough points. FONT BY DECISION (+200) is worth a roll of the dice, especially since Font can use his 3-inch reach advantage to hold Matsumoto at a distance. Yes (-300): Will fight go the distance? will set you back 3 times your potential return. That's way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. If anything, the play would be to forget about declaring a winner, and hope for a finish to nearly double up. However, the best course of action is to stay away from the Over/Under, and simply focus on the fight method of victory. PASS. Visit MMA Junkie for more fight news and analysis.
