Rose Leslie reveals the 'Game of Thrones' scene she doesn't want her kids to watch
Rose Leslie knows her children might want to see her and Kit Harington on 'Game of Thrones' when they're older. However, the actress has revealed that one scene from the fantasy drama she doesn't want her kids to see. The 38-year-old actress and her husband Kit Harington got married in June 2018 after meeting on the set of the fantasy series. They have two young children together. She told Tatler magazine: "I don't think it's our decision. I think if they wish to see Mum and Dad do their thing - I mean, I'm not talking about the cave scene, I'd rather not - but the other scenes and whatnot (laughs). "You're right, there is something celebratory about it." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The scene in question is the moment their characters Ygritte and Jon Snow get intimate together for the first time in a remote cave, reports Rose revealed she and Kit don't actually watch each other's projects because they're usually been too involved in the creative process by that point. She said: "Oh, it's cringe! You're like, 'Why did I pull that face?' You'd rather just watch something else. There's no lack of support from either of us, but because we've helped each other with those lines (before shooting), it's work and you park work, because you're at home." However, they recently stumbled on an old episode of 'Game of Thrones' and decided to take a trip down memory lane. Rose recalled: "There are some replays on Sky and with the birth of our daughter, we were up late, feeding and flipping through the channels, and we were like, 'Oh, I wonder what episode is on' and it happened to be one we were both in. A decade after her three seasons aired, Rose admitted she's still close with "the most wonderful human being" Emilia Clarke, while she didn't make the cut for the 'Game of Thrones' WhatsApp group. She said: "I'm not on it! It's everybody who made it to the final series, so Kit is in the group. He speaks to several other cast members, but there's a bond that they all have, because for nearly 10 years those guys were together on the most extraordinary rollercoaster." "And I had the most brilliant time being a part of that and then stepping back and seeing it elevate to the phenomenon that it became."

Rose Leslie reveals one Game of Thrones scenes she hopes her children never see
Rose Leslie doesn't want her children to watch "the cave scene" from 'Game of Thrones'. The 38-year-old actress and her husband Kit Harington - who got married in June 2018 after meeting on the set of the fantasy series - have two young children together, and while she accepts they will probably discover the HBO show one day, there's one moment she hopes they never see. She told Tatler magazine: "I don't think it's our decision. I think if they wish to see Mum and Dad do their thing – I mean, I'm not talking about the cave scene, I'd rather not – but the other scenes and whatnot [laughs]. HBO shoots down claims Harry Potter TV show will be 'most expensive ever made'
The highly anticipated TV adaptation of the Harry Potter series has been reported to be a record-breaker before it even hits screens. HBO will adapt each of JK Rowling's wizarding tomes into a season of television, as part of a ten-year plan to bring a new generation of viewers to the long-untouched Hogwarts IP. The budget reported so far would make the HBO show the most expensive ever to be made, trouncing Prime Video's $465 million (£399 million) price tag for Rings of Power. The Express reported each episode would cost £75 million to make, boosting the UK economy by billions. However, a source close to the production has now confirmed to Metro that the reported figure is inaccurate. Instead, the production costs will be on a par with Game of Thrones' budget. The eighth season of the show was its most expensive, costing roughly $15 million (almost £12 million at the time) per episode. Yet the wizarding adaptation is set to be a high numbers affair regardless, with 30,000 young hopefuls having thrown their name into the sorting hat at the casting director's office, each vying to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. HBO has now confirmed Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout have been cast as Harry, Hermione and Ron in their first screen acting roles. The production had already shared a swathe of casting announcements, with John Lithgow set to play headmaster Albus Dumbledore, I May Destroy You star Paapa Essiedu taking on Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Hagrid. The benefit to the UK from the next decade of Potterdom is said to be 'probably incalculable', according to Tom Harrington, an analyst at Enders Analysis. He told The Times: 'It's not just the box office, the merchandise, the tourists or the tours arising from the books, but the resurgence of big UK film and TV production that came in the wake of the Potter films.' Pictures have already emerged of the £1billion 'mini city' being built for the adaptation at the Warner Bros studio complex in Leavesden. The vast studio extension reportedly includes a (real) school for its young actors, who will continue their education as they juggle shooting responsibilities with their studies. More Trending Francesca Gardiner, who's worked on Killing Eve and His Dark Materials, will serve as showrunner after winning out a hugely competitive process, which required writing a pilot script and being interviewed by Rowling for the sign-off. She'll be joined by directing wizard Mark Mylod, the talent behind Succession and the pivotal attack on Jackson in the second season of The Last of Us. The first season is set to begin filming this summer and will arrive on screens in 2026. View More » The Harry Potter TV show will stream exclusively on Max in 2026. Got a story? Where have you seen the new Harry Potter trio before?
A new Harry, Hermione and Ron have been anointed after a casting search which saw tens of thousands apply to the Harry Potter reboot on HBO. The TV adaptation is set to start filming this summer, with a decade-long plan to adapt all of writer JK Rowling's seven books into a season a piece. We finally got word from HBO on who will be starring in the show, after an open casting call to British children aged 9 to 11 drew over 30,000 hopefuls. The hunt for the next generation of Harry Potter started eight months ago and promised to be 'inclusive to all races, ethnicities and gender identities'. 'After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron,' said executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod in a statement. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.' The trio confirmed are Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. So who are the newcomers and where have you seen them before? Tasked with being the star of the show and the next one to wear the lightning scar, Dominic McLaughlin is a Scottish actor who already has a few roles under his belt. Dominic featured alongside Game of Thrones' Indira Varma in a Shakespearean production of Macbeth and is set to star in the ensemble cast for Sky film Grow, a pumpkin-centric comedy including Bridgerton's Golda Rosheuvel. The announcement that Dominic has been cast as Harry Potter prompted his very proud acting school to share their congratulations online. The Performance Academy Scotland posted on Facebook: 'The news is out and this one is MAGICAL!! 'Our amazing young performer has been cast as Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO series. We are not sure this will ever feel real but we said from the start that Dominic was the perfect Harry and we are thrilled for everyone else to see this soon too. 'Dominic, we will forever be proud of you! We have had an incredible journey with you these last five years at TPA and can't wait for what's next on this journey! 'We are extremely proud to represent you and can't wait to go on this Wizarding journey together. 'A massive congratulations to Dominic…our Harry Potter.' The second child star on the roster is Arabella Stanton, who will follow in Emma Watson's footsteps to play beloved clever clogs Hermione. Arabella already has starring experience, having played another infamous brainbox: Roald Dahl's character Matilda Wormwood. Arabella starred in the West End musical production of Matilda in 2023, moonlighting on The One Show as Matilda for World Book Day. Elsewhere on stage, Arabella appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber's roller-skate musical Starlight Express in 2024, where she played the part of Control. Arabella trained with with Guildford School of Acting and the British Theatre Academy, who shared their congratulations on Facebook, writing in a post: 'We are INCREDIBLY proud of alumni Arabella Stanton who has been cast as HERMIONE GRANGER in the upcoming HBO MAX series HARRY POTTER!! 'We cannot wait to see her take on this amazing role!' The next redhead to play Ron on screen is Alastair Stout, who is a true newcomer with only one role in an advert to date. Much like Paul Mescal made his TV debut in a sausage advert before his smash turn in Normal People, Alastair had a few seconds of screen time enjoying Jersey Royal spuds. The company Albert Bartlett's was among those rushing to congratulate the new cast, posting a snap from the advert on official Instagram page. The caption read: 'Following his appearance in our Jersey Royal advert we would like to congratulate Alastair Stout in his starring role as Ron Weasley in the new HBO Harry Potter series.' All three can be sure that their roles thus far will be eclipsed by what's to come, as their names will soon be known to millions when the show debuts next year. While there have been reports the Harry Potter trio are set to make millions, we don't yet have confirmation what their salaries will be for the roles. Although, the exposure that will come with being the faces of the franchise will be immensely valuable. It has been compared to 'winning the jackpot' by brand expert Nick Ede, who told the MailOnline: 'It's going to completely change their lives. 'Daniel Radcliffe was paid £1 million for his first film and that went up to £50 million for the last two. It's not just the financial gain but the global fame will also bring endorsements and deals for them. 'It's the best start to an acting career they could ever want, I can only see it going up for them. But it is a lot of pressure to be cast in such a big show. They're going to be superstars globally. 'I can imagine them at least being paid £1 million per series to begin with and then you could even see them commanding £10 to £20 million each by the end of the seventh season – or even more.' The production has already announced a raft of big names to fill the corridors and elaborate dining hall of Hogwarts. Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell After rampant speculation John Lithgow was announced as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. The post was originally taken up by Richard Harris and Michael Gambon, both of whom have since died. The other cast members confirmed include I May Destroy You's Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Kaos's Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, as well as Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Rounding out the announcements thus far are Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. JK Rowling still has ownership over key aspects of the Harry Potter IP and will be an executive producer on the show. Her involvement has been met with controversy amid her staunch anti-trans campaigning, which led to a rift with the original three stars of the films. HBO's chief content officer Casey Bloys was asked whether there were concerns her views would affect the show on The Town podcast earlier this year. Bloys said: 'We already have a show on HBO from her called CB Strike that we do with the BBC. It's pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She's entitled to them. 'Harry Potter is not secretly being infused with anything. And if you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter.' A number of the original Harry Potter cast members are no longer with us, including Robbie Coltrane, Dame Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman. What's more, any hopes the Harry Potter fans had of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint returning have been dashed by Rowling's public feud with the stars over the last five years. While we've not yet heard news of any returning cast members from other quarters of Hogwarts, we can't rule it out until the entire cast has been confirmed. The series promises to be a 'faithful adaptation' of Rowling's books, so if the episodes differ from the films it will only be in allowing a great level of detail which couldn't be achieved in a film's run time. More Trending When the adaptation was first announced at HBO, a statement promised the show would be 'full of the fantastic detail, much-loved characters and dramatic locations that Harry Potter fans have loved for over 25 years'. It continued: 'Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.' The Harry Potter TV show will air in 2026. Got a story? Books like 'Game of Thrones' to tide you over while you wait for 'Winds of Winter'
Books like 'Game of Thrones' to tide you over while you wait for 'Winds of Winter' Expecting new 'Game of Thrones' books anytime soon? You know nothing, Jon Snow! It's been over a decade since George R.R. Martin last published a book in the "Song of Ice and Fire" series, but fantasy fans have been well fed with the show (though perhaps left hungry by that last season) and 'House of the Dragon' spin-off series. Martin is currently working on his next novel, 'The Winds of Winter,' but calls it 'the curse of my life.' In an interview with TIME following his pictures with real-life dire wolves, Martin said, 'There's no doubt 'Winds of Winter' is 13 years late. I'm still working on it. I have periods where I make progress and then other things divert my attention.' Books like 'Game of Thrones' If you're far too impatient to wait for 'The Winds of Winter' and Season 3 of 'House of the Dragon,' check out these seven high fantasy books with similar themes to 'Game of Thrones.' 'Assassin's Apprentice' by Robin Hobb Martin himself called this 'fantasy as it ought to be written." The first book of the Farseer trilogy follows a prince's bastard son who is treated as an outcast by all except for the king. King Shrewd secretly trains young Fitz as an assassin, harnessing his ancestral magic. Now grown up, he's thrust into dangerous missions where he's both the key to saving the kingdom and the biggest threat to the throne. 'The Dragon's Path' by Daniel Abraham Also loved by Martin is 'The Dragon's Path,' which follows the paths of three characters that lead to a looming all-out war. Marcus has sworn off the battlefield, but when his men are conscripted, he'll have to get creative to stay out of a battle he wants no part of. Cithrin is an orphan tasked with smuggling gold across a war zone, fluent in the secret language of commerce. And Geder is simply a pawn, the heir of a noble house and a lacking soldier who'd rather wax philosophical than wield a sword. 'To Shape a Dragon's Breath' by Moniquill Blackgoose If Daenerys and her dragons were your favorite part of 'Game of Thrones,' you might like 'To Shape a Dragon's Breath.' The story follows 15-year-old Anequs who finds and bonds with a dragon hatchling. She's revered by her Indigenous community, who haven't seen a dragon in generations. But the Anglish conquerors of her land have different ideas about how to raise a dragon – ideas that don't involve Anequs at all. Reluctantly, they let her enroll in Anglish dragon school, but at a cost. If she doesn't succeed, they'll kill her dragon. 'The Ruin of Kings' by Jenn Lyons In the first book of the 'Chorus of Dragons' trilogy, a man who grows up in the slums discovers he's a long-lost prince, the son of a treasonous royal. Suddenly, Kihrin finds himself swept up and essentially imprisoned by his new family, who harbor ruthless political ambitions. As he gains a new understanding of the world and what the storybooks of his childhood lied about, he'll have to understand whether he's meant to save the world or destroy it. 'The Emperor's Blades' by Brian Staveley If you're still mourning Ned Stark, 'The Emperor's Blades' might be for you. The story starts after the emperor of Annur is murdered and follows his three children as they live out the destinies he set for them. Kaden, the heir, remains sequestered in a remote monastery where he must master an ancient power. Valyn is training as an elite soldier oceans away. And Minister Adare is determined to prove herself to her people, but she'll stop at nothing to avenge her father. 'The Grace of Kings' by Ken Liu Loved the warring houses in 'Game of Thrones'? Try 'The Dandelion Dynasty' series, which starts as two unlikely friends come together to rebel against tyranny. Charming bandit Kuni and fearless, royal-born Mata become allies after an adventure filled with fighting armies, airships and shapeshifting gods. But once they've overthrown the emperor, they're left on different sides of the new order as rivals. 'She Who Became the Sun' by Shelley Parker-Chan 'She Who Became the Sun' is perfect for 'Game of Thrones' fans seeking fantasy with vengeance and political stakes. Set in 1345 China under harsh Mongol rule, two children in the Zhu family are given two very different fates – their eighth-born son is destined for greatness, while their second daughter is destined for nothingness. But after a bandit attack leaves the children orphaned, the son dies. The girl must use her brother's identity to escape death, avoid her fate and rise to power. Still looking for the right book?
