Legendary Scottish singer forced to cancel shows due to health
Midge Ure announced it was with 'great sadness and difficulty' that he was rescheduling all his shows planned from September onwards. The 71-year-old, real name James 'Midge' Ure, said during a recent routine check-up, doctors discovered a health issue that requires 'urgent treatment and a period of recovery'. He also said his team are working closely with promoters to reschedule the affected dates. The rescheduled performances include dates in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and Europe this autumn. The acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer is set to host a show at Glasgow's SEC Armadillo on May 22, 2026. It is understood that Midge's Glasgow show will go ahead. "During a recent routine check-up, doctors discovered a health issue that requires urgent treatment and a period of recovery. "I know many of you travel great distances, often across borders to attend the shows, and I never take that support for granted. I'm truly sorry for any inconvenience or disruption this causes to your plans. "I remain fully committed to performing all shows currently scheduled for this month, and I'm looking forward to being out there with you for as long as I'm able. "Let me reassure you that the A Man of Two Worlds tour is very much going ahead. "I'm aiming to be back on the road again as soon as possible and looking forward to getting back out there and sharing this music with you all. "My team and I are working closely with promoters to reschedule the affected dates, and we'll share updates on my Facebook page as soon as we have them. "I kindly ask that you respect the privacy of myself and my family during this difficult time. "Thank you, as always, for your understanding, patience, and unwavering support. It truly means a great deal." (Image: PA) Midge, from Lanarkshire, was set to bring his A Man Of Two Worlds Tour to Glasgow in 2026. The star is known for being the frontman of the electronic pop group Ultravox, whose track Vienna (the title track from their studio album of the same name) is among the most well-known songs of the 80s. He also co-wrote Do They Know It's Christmas? for Band-Aid.

Legendary rock band announced gig at iconic Glasgow venue
Twin Atlantic will perform at the Barrowland Ballroom in the East End on December 4, 2025. The group, which formed in Glasgow in 2007, will host the concert as part of their Great Divide 10th Anniversary Shows run. The alternative rock band, which currently consists of Sam McTrusty, Ross McNae, and Joe Lazarus, is known for its tunes, including Heart and Soul, Crash Land, Meltdown, and No Sleep. "I'm a huge fan of Scottish music - and this is the festival that really brings it to life. I never feel alone when I'm here because people are so friendly. I love coming over - I'll be back next year'. Elsewhere, Tom Walker brought local legend Cammy Barnes onto stage to play pipes during his breakthrough single, Leave a Light On. And Paul Mescal - whose sister Nell Mescal and girlfriend, Gracie Abrams - both play the festival today - was spotted in the crowd last night watching Fontaines DC.

Glasgow Hydro announces all food will be plant-based
Ahead of sold-out shows this week, the venue has announced a change to its food offerings, featuring a meatless menu. They've said they're 'Going Green for Billie' ahead of American superstar Billie Eilish's gigs at the clydeside arena tonight and tomorrow. Playfully titled options on the menu utilise the award-winning, chart-topping singer's back catalogue of songs to inspire the names of each dish. The menu features the 'Bad Guy Burger - a Beetroot and bean burger... duh!', the 'Birds of a Feather - Shittake burger on a soft bun', and the 'You Should See me in a Crown - Classic Quorn burger'. They have a range of pizzas too, including the 'What Was I Made For? - Margherita pizza with plant-based cheese', the 'No Time to Die - Plant-based meatball marinara pizza' and the 'Lovely Pizza. - Vibrant and colourful roasted pepper pizza'. Billie Eilish fans camp out at Glasgow's Hydro before show
The Birds of a Feather singer has been on her world tour since September last year and doors will open at 6pm tonight. Ecstatic fans piled into tents inside the red pedestrian walkway bridge over the Clydeside Expressway last night and in the early hours of this morning. The dedicated 'Eyelashers' have been lining up in the hopes of getting to the front of the sold-out crowd. Casey Eve, 17, from Newcastle, shared her experience camping out in the tunnel next to the venue after arriving around half 4 in the morning. On her camping experience, Casey described it as "Tiring. Literally fell asleep in like an hour" but added, "it was actually really comfortable". When asked why she chose to camp out so early, she stated, "It's Billie Eilish. That's it, it's just Billie Eilish, isn't it really?" They all also camped out in the tunnel. Describing their camping experience, they said: "It wasn't that bad. I thought it was going to be worse." They found the tunnel "warmer there" because "it was like enclosed, so we were quite warm, it was kind of fun". Their main reason for camping out was clear: "We really want to get barricade". One passionately declared, "I would do anything for the diva." Ellie had a special hope for the night, she explained: "I made a sign. My uncle passed away a few days ago. So I made a sign, hoping she'll dedicate a song to him." Her motivation for camping out was to get a prime viewing spot, she said: "I really want Barricade because she does barricade run. So that'll be fun". I feel like I get really bad FOMO if I'm not queuing. So, I need to be in the queue." "We also like meeting people even if we don't get to the barrier. "I'm just happy to be here and be hanging out with people and getting hyped for the concert. "Some of my best friends I've made while queuing. Like my whole friend group, I met at a concert I was queuing for at 8am." Eilidh added: "You make friends in such the weirdest ways and cues."
