Day after flag-hoisting snub, Shinde and Gogawale skip cabinet meet
Mumbai: A day after the state govt did not name Shiv Sena ministers for the flag-hoisting programmes on Independence Day in Raigad and Nashik, deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde and cabinet member Bharat Gogawale skipped the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Gogawale said he was firm on becoming tne guardian minister of Raigad, and hoisting the national flag did not make NCP minister Aditi Tatkare the guardian minister of Raigad. Gogawale and Shiv Sena minister Dada Bhuse, who is vying to become guardian minister of Nashik district, said they should get to hoist the national flag in Raigad and Nashik, respectively, since the two districts had no guardian minister so far. Shiv Sena functionaries said both Shinde and Gogawale had informed the chief minister's office that they would not attend the cabinet meeting on Tuesday since they were not in the city. The opposition MVA slammed the state govt over failing to appoint guardian ministers for Raigad and Nashik districts. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said Shinde was shown his place and claimed that the deputy chief minister had complained to Union home minister Amit Shah about the matter. Gogawale said he would accept whatever decision the seniors had taken for the flag-hoisting. "We think that the seniors will take a decision after the flag-hoisting. Sunil Tatkare and Eknath Shinde must have met to discuss some state matters. But I did not ask what was discussed. We never ask leaders where they are going or why. I have no objection to the flag-hoisting being done by Aditi Tatkare. We have to accept the decision taken by the seniors," Gogawale said. Shiv Sena minister Uday Samant said that no politics should be brought into national days like Independence Day. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Speculations fuel over fracture in Mahayuti as Shinde, Gogawale skip cabinet meeting
The Maharashtra government's decision to have NCP minister Aditi Tatkare and BJP minister Girish Mahajan hoist the national flag in Raigad and Nashik on Independence Day, bypassing Shiv Sena hopefuls has triggered a fresh controversy. A day after, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and senior Sena MLA minister Bharat Gogawale, who has been lobbying for the Raigad guardian minister's post, skipped the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday, fuelling speculation of discontent within the ruling Mahayuti alliance. The move comes against the backdrop of long-pending appointments of guardian ministers in two districts- Raigad and Nashik. Sena ministers Gogawale and Dada Bhuse both have been lobbying for these posts. On Monday, the state's General Administration Department issued a circular naming Tatkare for Raigad and Mahajan for Nashik for the flag hoisting for Independence day. Sena leaders say this was perceived as a political snub to their claimants. Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders seized the opportunity, with Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut alleging that Shinde had been 'shown his place' by the local BJP leaders and Shinde had even complained to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about being sidelined. Shinde-led Sena leaders however denied having any fissures in the alliance and said that Shinde could not attend the meeting since he is currently in Srinagar after attending a blood donation camp in Jammu, and Gogawale is in Delhi and hence both were absent from the cabinet meeting. Sena functionaries insisted both had informed the CM's office in advance and had officially taken leave. Gogawale reiterated his ambitions for the Raigad post but denied any personal animosity. 'I am 100 percent committed to the guardian ministership. There is a difference between hoisting the flag and the guardian ministership. Just because someone hoists the flag doesn't make them the guardian minister. Whatever decision the seniors take, we will accept. I have no objection to Aditi Tatkare hoisting the flag,' he said, adding that he hoped the decision on guardian ministerships would come 'after the flag-hoisting.' The discontent within the Shinde camp is not limited to the guardian minister row. In recent weeks, Sena MLAs — including Sanjay Gaikwad — have openly complained of not receiving development funds for their constituencies for over 10 months. Gaikwad, considered a close aide of Shinde, said that while Dy CM Shinde, CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar had assured that the situation would improve, the lack of funds had created frustration among legislators. Minister Pratap Sarnaik, however, dismissed these claims, saying funds were being allocated for departmental works such as transport infrastructure. In Nashik, the decision to assign Mahajan the flag-hoisting duty over Sena's Dada Bhuse has sparked similar murmurs. Sena minister Uday Samant attempted to calm the waters, saying the Independence Day list was 'only about flag-hoisting' and not a declaration of guardian ministers. He also stressed that in his personal view, 'Dada Bhuse should be Nashik's guardian minister and Bharat Gogawale for Raigad,' but that the final decision rests with Shinde, who will consult the alliance leaders.

Rivals hit out as clip ‘shows minister with witch doctor'
Mumbai: The Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP claimed that state minister Bharat Gogawale had resorted to occult rituals for his victory in last year's assembly elections and a cabinet berth. The minister for employment guarantee scheme was targeted after a viral video purportedly showed him performing some rituals with a 'mantrik' (witch doctor). Vasant More of Sena (UBT) and Suraj Chavan of NCP mocked the Shiv Sena minister, who represents Mahad. NCP and Shiv Sena are partners in the governing Mahayuti coalition. More said Gogawale had earlier performed occult rituals to become an MLA and a cabinet minister, while Chavan claimed on Wednesday he recently took part in another round of such rituals in the hope of becoming guardian minister of Raigad district. Chavan said Maharashtra is a progressive state, and Gogawale should trust the Mahayuti leadership. Sena and NCP are vying for the Raigad guardian minister's post. Gogawale called himself a 'Hindutvawadi' and said he believes in God. He said he had visited a religious place in Indore and performed havan and puja. PTI

Viral clip shows Maharashtra Minister Gogawale with ‘witch doctor'; Sena (UBT), NCP mock him
The Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) claimed that Maharashtra's Minister Bharat Gogawale had resorted to occult rituals for his victory in last year's Assembly elections and a cabinet berth. The Minister for Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) was targeted after a viral video purportedly showed him performing some rituals with a 'mantrik' (witch doctor). Vasant More of Sena (UBT) and Suraj Chavan of the NCP mocked the Shiv Sena Minister, who represents the Mahad constituency. NCP and Shiv Sena are partners in the ruling Mahayuti coalition in the State. Mr. More said Mr. Gogawale had earlier performed occult rituals to become an MLA and a Cabinet Minister, while Mr. Chavan claimed on Wednesday that he recently took part in another round of such rituals in the hope of becoming the Guardian Minister of Raigad district. Mr. Chavan said Maharashtra is a progressive State, and Mr. Gogawale should trust the Mahayuti leadership instead. Both Shiv Sena and NCP are vying for the post of Raigad Guardian Minister. Reacting to his video, Mr. Gogawale called himself a 'Hindutvawadi' and said he believes in God. The Minister said he had visited a religious place in Indore and performed havan and puja. 'If Vasant More feels I became an MLA and then a Minister after performing the puja, then he should have told me. I would have taken him along with me... he wouldn't have lost his deposit in the Assembly polls,' said Mr. Gogawale. The Shiv Sena leader said he was being targeted as he had spoken the 'truth' about the split in the original party.

NCP & Sena trade barbs in Raigad dist
Navi Mumbai: The political tussle between Mahayuti partners NCP and Shiv Sena to save their turf and to get the guardian minister's post in Raigad is being fought on the basis of barbs about napkins (face towelette), 'fiturs' (traitors) and 'fituranche badshah' (traitors' king). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now NCP state president, Sunil Tatkare attacked Sena minister Bharat Gogawale by distributing napkins in his party programme, held on the latter's home turf Mahad. And a Tatkare supporter in Karjat, Sudhakar Ghare, took a dig at Sena MLAs including the three from the district saying they are 'fitur' (traitors) and one 'fituranche badshah' (traitors' king), indirectly aimed at deputy CM Eknath Shinde, while pointing out their decamping to Guwahati, dance in a hotel there and return to remain in power in the state. The Sena said it will not tolerate such remarks about its leaders, especially Eknath Shinde. Earlier, Tatkare had put a serviette on one of his supporters to irk Gogawale. Gogawale claimed he had helped Tatkare during Lok Sabha elections but NCP did not help Sena in Vidhan Sabha polls. Subsequently, Tatkare, while inducting new joinees to the NCP in Mahad, had used the napkin on his shoulder, imitating Sena's Gogawale.
