HYDERABAD: BJP state president N Ramchander Rao, Union minister G Kishan Reddy and others paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary at the party's state headquarters here on Saturday. The leaders hailed Vajpayee's visionary leadership, recalling that his government laid the foundation for India's rise as a global power, both economically and strategically. Ramchander Rao credited Vajpayee's tenure for landmark infrastructure projects such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the Golden Quadrilateral project, which gave a major boost to connectivity and development. He also noted that Vajpayee's government faced international sanctions after the Pokhran nuclear tests but stood firm in safeguarding national interest. He further highlighted reforms in the supply and export system of essential food grains like rice and wheat introduced during Vajpayee's rule. Rao recalled that Vajpayee's birthday is observed every year as 'Good Governance Day' by the government and the BJP, in recognition of his ethical and effective administration, which he described as a 'golden age' in Indian history.

Highlighting Vajpayee's contributions, he said, "His govt developed landmark infrastructure projects such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (rural roads programme) and the (national highways), which significantly boosted the country's development." He also recalled how the Vajpayee-led govt faced international sanctions after the Pokhran nuclear tests. "Despite the challenges, the former Prime Minister steered the nation forward without compromise, demonstrating remarkable economic leadership," he said. He further pointed out that reforms in the supply and export system for essential grains such as rice and wheat were brought in during Vajpayee's tenure. He said that Vajpayee's birthday is observed annually as 'Good Governance Day' in recognition of his ethical and effective administration, which is widely considered a "golden age" in Indian history.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, 'Remembering Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi. His dedication and spirit of service towards the all-round progress of India continue to inspire everyone in building a developed and self-reliant India. ' The prime minister also paid floral tributes to the former PM at 'Sadaiv Atal' Vajpayee's memorial in Delhi, on Saturday. President Droupadi Murmu, Union ministers Kiren Rijiju, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha, and Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta were also present. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of the tallest leaders of Indian politics and a founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away on 16 August 2018 at AIIMS, Delhi, after a long illness. He was 93. Vajpayee served as the country's Prime Minister three times — first for a short term in 1996, and later for two full terms between 1998 and 2004. His birthday, 25 December, is observed as Good Governance Day. In 2015, he was conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.

Success stories: IAS Dr. Rahul Haridas Fating is being awarded the 'Prime Minister's Excellence Award 2023'. He is receiving this honour for his overall development and innovations in Barwani. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present this award to him on the 17th Civil Services Day (Good Governance Day). He has previously served as the Collector of Barwani district. This award is given based on the recommendation of a high-level committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India. Dr. Rahul Fating is a low-profile IAS officer. He was appointed as the Collector of Barwani district on January 30, 2023. He belongs to a middle-class family in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Born on March 24, 1985, Dr. Fating completed his MBBS degree from Government Medical College, Yavatmal. After that, he was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 2011. Dr. Fating succeeded in his next attempt and was chosen for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 2012. During his posting in Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Fating has served as Assistant Collector in Rewa district, SDM in Anuppur district, and Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat in Shivpuri district, as well as Executive Director of the Madhya Pradesh Mineral Corporation, Deputy Secretary in the Mineral Resources Department, Additional Collector in Jabalpur district, Additional Commissioner in MGNREGA, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Director of Watershed and Collector of Seoni district. After serving as the Collector of Barwani district, he is currently the Commissioner of the Madhya Pradesh Housing and Infrastructure Development Board in Bhopal. After his posting in Barwani district, Dr. Fating made education, health, malnutrition prevention, women empowerment, and public welfare his top priorities and initiated several innovations. These innovations included Mission Bal Shakti, Warloo Commando, tribal health service providers treating with traditional medicinal plants (Tribal Healers Training), Mission Foundation, Mamta Brigade, as well as strengthening institutions related to social justice and disability – Asha Ashray and the hostel for girls with special needs (CW SN), and organizing world record-level massive blood donation camps for the health and nutrition of pregnant women and children. These programs have led to improvements in health, nutrition, education, and agriculture-related indices in the tribal-dominated district.
