One of the new marked hybrid Guelph police cars. (@GuelphPolice) Guelph Police have arrested a man wanted in another jurisdiction Tuesday. At around 10:20 a.m., police said they recognized a man they knew was wanted leaving a taxi near Paisley Road and Imperial Road South. Police arrested the man and said they found quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine, cash, a can of bear spray and a machete inside his pant leg upon searching him. A 36-year-old Guelph man was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and seven counts of breaching court orders.

Guelph man arrested in hit and run

A Guelph man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run collision Sunday morning. Guelph Police say just before 9 a.m., a delivery truck was struck by a black Hyundai SUV near Paisley Street and Edinburgh Road North. 'The driver of the heavily-damaged SUV fled northbound on Edinburgh Road,' police said in a media release. 'A member of the public contacted police Monday afternoon after seeing a media release asking for witnesses to come forward.' The SUV was later found in a parking lot on Willow Road. A 42-year-old Guelph man is charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and careless driving.

(Guillaume Meurice/ A man was arrested after Guelph Police caught him driving a stolen car connected to a business break-and-enter Saturday. Police said an officer was patrolling on Waverley Drive at around 11:20 p.m., when he saw an Audi A5 that didn't have any license plates. The driver provided proof of ownership and identified himself, verbally to the officer, with the same name that was on the document. Police then determined the driver was not who he said he was. When officers called the real owner of the vehicle, he said he dropped his car off at a garage for servicing and confirmed no one should be driving it. Police also contacted the owners of the garage, who confirmed someone had broken into their office and stole a laptop and multiple car keys. The officer said they saw these items inside the Audi. Police arrested and charged a 36-year-old Guelph man with break-and-enter, possessing stolen property over $5,000 and breach of probation.

The reports started coming in shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday. Police were told a man had been spotted in the Waverly Drive and Balmoral Drive area and, according to one resident, he went into his unlocked truck and stole a garage door opener, which he then used to get inside the garage. When police arrived, they saw the man leaving the garage and approach another house. Police said the man was also wearing a sweater, hat and blanket stolen from the victim's truck and garage. A 30-year-old Guelph man was charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and two counts of breaching probation.

Guelph man facing assault and weapon charges after verbal fight

A Guelph man is facing charges after he pulled out a knife during an argument. Guelph Police were called to a townhouse complex near Fife Road at around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. A resident told officers they saw two unknown men outside and went to talk to them. A verbal fight then broke out and one of the men allegedly pulled out a knife with a curved blade. The two suspects ran away after the resident called police. Officers found one of the men not too far away from Fife Road and arrested him. They said he was carrying a drywall knife with a curved blade and a plastic brass knuckles-type weapon in his pocket. A 33-year-old man from Guelph was charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
