Chittoor MLA for curbing plastic usage
Chittoor: Environment protection is the responsibility of every citizen and people should voluntarily involve in planting saplings, stated Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jagan Mohan. On Thursday, he participated in the World Environment Day and Vanamahotsavam organised by forest department in Chittoor. The MLA said maintaining ecological balance is essential for human survival and wanted the people to reduce plastic usage to the minimum. Stating that raising temperatures are the result of deforestation, he said by taking up tree plantation in a big way we can save the environment. Students should take up planting trees in their schools and colleges to improve greenery. DFO Bharani said that following the government directions, the forest department targeted to plant 30 lakh saplings in Chittoor district. Deputy Mayor Rajesh Kumar Reddy, NGO Representatives, students participated in the programme. Meanwhile in Tirupati, 'Safeguarding our environment is the only way for human survival and a disease-free society,' stated city MLA Arani Srinivasulu. On World Environment Day, along with Corporation Commissioner N Mourya and Greenery and Beautification Chairman M Sugunamma, he participated in a mass plantation drive held at Seethamma Nagar here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Srinivasulu said that efforts are on to ensure a clean and tidy environment, keeping in view of the large number of pilgrims visiting the pilgrim city daily. With an aim to protect the environment, the corporation has planned to plant 5,090 saplings in the city to mark World Environment Day. He said it is the responsibility of women and youth to see that the saplings will grow. Stating that this year's World Environment Day theme is 'Beat the plastic pollution', the MLA urged people to stop using single use plastic and also ban plastic items to save humans and animals. Greenery and Beautification Chairman Sugunamma said the government is keen on containing plastic menace and plans are afoot to make cities and towns plastic free. Commissioner Mourya said under TUDA limits, plantation of 15,000 saplings is taken up and the administration is determined to make pilgrim city Tirupati plastic free by promoting cloth and paper bags. Additional Commissioner Charan Tej Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Amaraiah, SE Syam Sundar, ME Thulasi Kumar, Health Officer Dr Yuva Anvesh Reddy, RO Sethu Madhav, ACP Balaji and others were present.

Collector orders undertaking of desilting operations in tanks
Chittoor: In a bid to boost groundwater levels and meet irrigation needs ahead of the monsoon, District Collector Sumit Kumar and Chittoor MLA GurajalaJagan Mohan directed irrigation officials to undertake desilting operations in local tanks without delay. On Tuesday afternoon, the Collector and MLA inspected several tanks in Gudipala mandal, including RamireddyCheruvu, ReddammaCheruvu, NarayanareddyCheruvu, and Bangarappa Cheruvu. During their visit, they interacted with ayacut farmers, local residents, and officials. Farmers brought to the attention of the officials that encroachments and silt accumulation have significantly reduced the water-holding capacity of these tanks. Responding to their concerns, the Collector ordered a survey to identify and address encroachments in the tanks. He also instructed officials to prepare immediate estimates and pass necessary resolutions to begin comprehensive desilting work. To facilitate these efforts, he directed the Irrigation Department to allocate Rs.40 lakh per tank under the MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme). Specific attention was called to strengthen the bund of BangarappaCheruvu. MLA Jagan Mohan and locals also raised concerns regarding silt buildup in BangarappaCheruvu caused by the construction of the express highway. Acting swiftly, the Collector instructed the National Highways Project Director to ensure the removal of the deposited soil. He also underlined the need to survey and prepare the supply channels between tanks to ensure smooth water flow during the rainy season. Irrigation SE Venkateswara Raju, EE Murali Kumar, MPDO Sirisha, Tahsildar Jayanti, AE Syed Peer, along with local leaders and public representatives were present.

Chittoor MLA launches development works
Chittoor: Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jagan Mohan inaugurated various infrastructure projects worth Rs 78.94 crore across multiple wards in Chittoor Municipal Corporation on Wednesday. He claimed that the coalition government has delivered visible development within 10 months of forming the government. Accompanied by Mayor S Amudha, he launched cement roads, drainage canals, and new borewells in wards 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 15 in Chittoor. In a heart-warming gesture, a sanitation worker, Mangamma, was invited to switch on a newly installed bore motor, showing respect for grassroots workers. Several officials, including Chuda Chairperson Kathari Hemalatha and Commissioner P Narasimha Prasad participated in the event.

Rajanna Foundation donates ALS ambulance under CSR initiative
Tirupati: Ina significant boost to public healthcare and education in Chittoor district, Rajanna Foundations, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has donated an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance worth Rs 35 lakh and contributed Rs 15 lakh towards the modernisation of a government school in P Kothakota of Puthalapattu constituency. The new ambulance, equipped with life-saving features including advanced CPR systems, was officially launched on Wednesday at the Chittoor District Government Hospital. District Collector Sumit Kumar inaugurated the facility in the presence of Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jagan Mohan, Puthalapattu MLA K Murali Mohan, Mayor Amudha, Amara Hospitals Managing Director Dr Rama Devi Gourineni, and CHUDA Chairperson Katari Hemalatha. Addressing the gathering, the Collector said the total CSR contribution of Rs 50 lakh would strengthen both emergency medical services and educational infrastructure in the district. He expressed gratitude to the Rajanna Foundations and partner organisations for their philanthropic support and commitment to regional development. Chittoor MLA Jagan Mohan noted that the advanced ambulance, provided upon the request of the district administration, would be instrumental in saving lives, especially during critical emergencies. Puthalapattu MLA Murali Mohan emphasised the need for robust emergency services, particularly along the frequently accident-prone national highway between P Kothakota and Chandragiri. Amara Hospitals MD Dr Rama Devi said the ambulance donation reflects their commitment to improving healthcare access in Chittoor, her hometown.
