Jess Pryles serves up massive tomahawk steaks and Cheeto coated corn on the barbecue
Jess Pryles is widely known for her expertise in barbeque, meat and smoking techniques. She now is based in Texas but is here for Vivid. She has also hosted Aussie Barbecue Heroes in 2015. Jess will be showing how to cook tomahawk steak and easy homemade flamin' hot corn. Recipe below: TOMAHAWK STEAK 1 beef tomahawk steak 2-3 tablespoons Hardcore Carnivore Black rub (or 2 tsp salt) 1 tablespoon oil Prepare the steak by removing from fridge 1 hour before cooking. Drizzle with oil, then season well on all sides with seasoning (or salt). Prepare a barbie for high heat cooking, and start by searing the tomahawk over high flame, turning every 2 minutes until a crust is formed. Leave the burner on, but move the steak across to a side without heat, and close the lid. Cook until it reads 58c on a meat thermometer. Rest for 10 mins under foil, then slice and serve. GRILLED 'FLAMIN HOT' STREET CORN Servings 4 Prep time 7 minutes Cook time 15 minutes Ingredients 4 corn on the cob Spray oil 3/4 cup mayonnaise 2 cups 'Flamin' Hot' Cheetos snacks Fresh lime wedges. Method Light a grill for medium heat cooking Spray the corn lightly with oil, then place onto the grill to cook for 10-15 minutes until charred and softened. Turn the ears during cooking to ensure that all sides are evenly cooked. Place the Cheetos into a food processor and pulse until a coarse crumb has formed. You can also do this by placing them into a resealable bag and crushing them with a rolling pin or the bottom of a saucepan. Pour the crumbs out onto a sheet pan or large shallow container. Slather the grilled corn with a generous amount of the mayonnaise, then roll through the Cheeto crumbs to coat completely. Serve with fresh lime wedges.

Lights, cameras, action at Eurovision Song Contest final
An estimated 160 million people across Europe and beyond are expected to tune in for the TV extravaganza, where kitsch, drama, pyrotechnics and histrionics take centre stage. Sweden has long been the bookmakers' hot favourite to win the 69th edition of the glitzy contest with the comedy trio KAJ's "Bara Bada Bastu" song on the delights of sweating it out in a sauna. But after two semi-finals and strong performances, Austria, France, Finland, the Netherlands and Israel are fancying their chances of causing an upset at the St. Jakobshalle arena in Basel. And there could always be a surprise in store, with Estonia, Albania and host Switzerland all thought to have an outside chance when the viewers' votes come in. Mystery also surrounds whether Canadian megastar Celine Dion -- who won Eurovision in 1988 when competing for Switzerland -- might make an emotion-drenched return, despite concerns around her struggles with Stiff Person Syndrome, a painful autoimmune disorder. Adrenaline, poetry, booming beats Hardcore fans snapped up the 6,500 highly coveted tickets for Saturday's showpiece final. Eurovision director Martin Green said the excitement had built to a fever pitch. "The staff and crew are exhausted but super happy," he told AFP. "What energises us all is going to see those artists sing, and you just get this shot of adrenaline. Some of those performances just rip the roof off." The 26 songs in contention are a showcase of Europe's different musical scenes. They include Portuguese guitar ballads, Maltese divas, Lithuanian alternative rock, Austrian operatics, Italian singalongs, Greek power ballads, ethereal Latvian choral folk and German booming beats. "I find the final line-up quite diverse, with both up-tempo entries and ballads, and some slightly more poetic moments," said Fabien Randanne, a music journalist for France's 20Minutes newspaper and a Eurovision veteran. "It's very difficult to say which way the viewers' hearts will go," he told AFP. Flames and hot coffee Norway's Kyle Alessandro opens the show in a burst of flames, followed by Luxembourg's Laura Thorn in an LED dolls' house, and Estonia's wobbly-legged Tommy Cash, with his light-hearted cod-Italian "Espresso Macchiato". After a whirlwind tour around the continent, France, San Marino and finally Albania will be freshest in voters' minds as they make their final decisions. The TV spectacular starts at 1900 GMT, with two hours of performances, before the nail-biting drama begins as the votes come in from around the continent. Separate jury and viewer votes from each of this year's 37 participating countries -- with equal weight -- plus an extra vote from the rest of the world combined, will decide who wins the coveted microphone-shaped trophy. The juries' votes are already in, based on Friday's untelevised full dress rehearsal held in a packed St. Jakobshalle. Though sworn to secrecy on the numbers, Eurovision voting supremo Thomas Niedermayer said this week's semi-finals -- when 20 countries progressed and 11 were eliminated -- had been "really close". "It was even much closer than the points make it appear. So it has been an exciting race and it's going to be a close race for the winner." Leather-clad lust Israel's participation in Eurovision 2025 has drawn small-scale protests in Basel over the war in Gaza. Its entrant Yuval Raphael, singing "New Day Will Rise", survived the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel that sparked the Gaza war, hiding beneath bodies as Hamas gunmen attacked a music festival, killing hundreds. Finland's leather-clad Erika Vikman has been gaining momentum during Eurovision week with the raunchy "Ich Komme", about falling into the trance of lust -- finishing with the singer hoisted in the air on a spark-emitting golden microphone, thrilling the audience. "I feel very loved when I'm in front of them and I want to give love to them also," she said. Ukraine won Eurovision in 2022 and trio Ziferblat are hoping the audience can inspire them to reclaim the trophy with "Bird of Pray". "It's very important to perform in front of a crowd because we need a response, we need to share emotions with them -- and that will go through the television screen," guitarist Valentyn Leshchynskyi told AFP. Malta's Miriana Conte is bringing diva vibes, with a giant pair of lips, leopard print, furs and fans. "It's not just the glitter and glam -- you can see there's a lot of work behind it," she said.

Their Best Match Came With the Final Swipe
Illyse Brittany Singer and Ty Christian Duncan were both disillusioned with dating when they connected on Tinder in October 2022. 'I was on every single dating app and dating all the wrong people but seeking a true partnership,' Ms. Singer said. 'I was just about to give up on the dating scene for a while, but then I met Illyse,' Mr. Duncan said. The two, who both lived in Brooklyn, matched on Tinder because they both worked in the arts and liked each other's profile pictures. Mr. Duncan works at Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, and Ms. Singer at Roxy Cinema, an independent film house in TriBeCa. At the time, Mr. Duncan, 47, was renting an apartment in Prospect Park. Ms. Singer, 38, had lived in the same apartment in Williamsburg for 18 years, where the couple now reside. After a flurry of text messages over three days, they met for coffee on Oct. 13 at Sullivan Street Bakery, near Gagosian Gallery. 'I thought Illyse was beautiful and seemed very determined,' Mr. Duncan said. They spoke about their shared love of art, music and film and their personal and professional goals. 'I lost track of time and was late for my next appointment,' Ms. Singer said. Later that day she invited Mr. Duncan to a screening of the 1983 war drama 'Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence' at the Roxy that evening. They had their next date two days later, again at the Roxy. They caught a screening of the 1979 crime drama 'Hardcore.' 'It was a super busy weekend at the theater, and I was tied up working and couldn't give Ty my full attention,' Ms. Singer said. 'Regardless, he wasn't intimated. There was a spark, almost an electric feeling between us.' Mr. Duncan, who grew up in the Atlanta area, is an art preparator for Gagosian Gallery, a role that entails installing, packing, and shipping art. Ms. Singer is from Miami and is the cinema director for Roxy Cinema. She has a bachelor's degree in art history from Hunter College. A few days after seeing 'Hardcore,' they had dinner at the Mediterranean restaurant Lighthouse BK, in Williamsburg, where they talked for five hours nonstop. Eventually, Mr. Duncan walked Ms. Singer to her apartment building, and when he turned around to leave, she grabbed his arm and pulled him in for a kiss. 'The way I felt with Ty was unlike anything I had ever felt with anyone else,' she said. [Click here to binge read this week's featured couples.] Several more dates followed. Then Mr. Duncan asked Ms. Singer if she would go away with him to the Catskills over Halloween weekend. While there, they hiked, enjoyed fireside dinners and talked about how they had both wanted to own a house in upstate New York. 'I was entranced, heads over heels in love by the end of the weekend,' Mr. Duncan said. The getaway cemented their relationship, and they fell into a cadence of seeing each other several times weekly for dinners or movies at the Roxy. On weekends, they took trips to the Catskills and started discussing the possibility of buying a home together. 'We used to go to open houses, and then our search became more serious,' Ms. Singer said. Ms. Singer said that she knew she wanted to marry Mr. Duncan in June 2023 when they went to Marco Island, Fla., to celebrate her birthday with her parents and siblings. 'Ty was so loving to my nephews and taught them how to fish,' Ms. Singer said. 'They idolized him, and my entire family loved him.' Mr. Duncan moved into Ms. Singer's apartment in July 2023. That month, they also found what they describe as 'their ideal home,' a Victorian house in the Catskills with a large garden and mountain views. 'All of our dreams were getting realized together,' Mr. Duncan said. The couple had extensively talked about their married future together and became officially engaged on Dec. 25, 2023. They were in their Catskills home celebrating Christmas with Mr. Duncan's mother who was visiting from Atlanta. 'We had just opened presents, but Ty said there was one more and pointed to an ornament of a wrapped present box on the tree,' Ms. Singer said. She opened it to find a diamond and emerald ring inside. 'He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife,' Ms. Singer said. 'The three of us couldn't stop crying.' The couple were wed on Feb. 10 before 60 guests at the French restaurant Pastis in Miami. Norman Rabinovich, a close friend of the couple's who was ordained by Universal Life Church for the occasion, officiated. In a nod to Ms. Singer's love for movies, the musician Adam Green sang a rendition of Nicolas Cage's interpretation of 'Love Me Tender' from the 1990 film 'Wild at Heart' as she walked down the aisle. Later they sat down to a lunch that included fried artichokes, steak frites and passion fruit tarts. The celebrations continued that evening with a smaller group in a suite at the Arlo Wynwood hotel. 'I've waited so long for this moment and this man,' Ms. Singer said. 'I couldn't have imagined anything more perfect.'
