Jersey cruise to eight-wicket win over Guernsey
Jersey cruised to an eight-wicket win over Guernsey in the 50-over inter-insular at the KGV. The win was the fifth Jersey's men have got over Guernsey in all formats this season as they warm up for the ICC Challenge League A tournament they will host later this month. Batting first, Guernsey restricted the hosts to 150 all out off 43 overs, as George Richardson returned impressive figures of 5-38 off his 10 overs. In reply Jersey needed just 25.2 overs to reach 152 as Harrison Carlyon hit 85. Jersey showed their intentions from the opening delivery when Lucas Barker was caught by Charlie Brennan at square leg off Julius Sumerauer for a first-ball duck. Barker's fellow opener Ben Fitchet was bowled for nought by Richardson in the next over to leave Guernsey on 4-2. Matt Stokes and Martin Dale Bradley put on 31 for the next wicket before Stokes was bowled by Richardson for 13 to leave Guernsey on 33-3 off 5.5 overs. Richardson dismissed Guernsey skipper Ollie Nightingale for a single two overs later before Bradley fell victim to Sumerauer for 28 to leave the Sarnians on 49-5 off 13 overs. Tom Nightingale and Ben Ferbrache steadied the Guernsey innings with a 43-run sixth-wicket stand before Richardson bowled Nightingale for 23. Ferbrache went on to make 29 off 64 balls before Harrison Carlyon trapped him lbw to leave Guernsey on 118-5 with 16 overs to go. Ninth man in Luke Bichard showed some resistance with a 39-ball 29 that included the only six of the innings, but Guernsey were bowled out for 150 off 43 overs. Jersey - who had beaten Guernsey in their T20 inter-insulars and in the T20 World Cup qualifiers - were in no mood to hang around as they put Guernsey's bowlers to the sword. Opener Nick Greenwood went for 20 after Adam Martel trapped him lbw, but Carlyon and Glamorgan star Asa Tribe came together to put on 108 for the second wicket in 19 overs. Carlyon hit 12 fours and two sixes in his 80-ball knock before he was caught by Tom Nightingale off Charlie Forshaw's bowling. Tribe went on to score an unbeaten 41 off 52 balls as Jersey kept their unbeaten run over Guernsey going for another year - Guernsey have not beaten Jersey over 50 overs since 2015.

Jersey cricketers just miss out on qualifying for the T20 World Cup despite beating Scotland
Jersey 's male cricketers have narrowly missed out on qualifying for the T20 World Cup despite a famous victory over Scotland. They beat the Scots by just one wicket this morning to give themselves a chance of making cricket's premier T20 competition, but the Netherlands overcame Italy in the later match to dash their hopes. It means Jersey finishes third in their qualifying table, level on points with Italy who progress to the main event after recording a higher net run rate. Despite the disappointment, victory over Scotland was a historic result for Jersey regardless and surely their greatest win ever. The team in red dominated the early exchanges - Harrison Carlyon was the pick of the bowlers as his three wickets helped reduce Scotland to 64-6. The Scots fought back to post 133-7, but that score still looked some way under par. Jersey were cruising the chase at 81-1 when they lost Nick Greenwood for a well-made 49. That sparked a flurry of wickets followed by some tight, tense overs. Eventually, it all came down to a dramatic final over and a thrilling final ball. Jersey required one run for a thrilling victory and Jake Dunford duly obliged as he scampered through for the all-important single. In the end, it was not enough to send them to next year's World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, but they came so close.

Jersey on the verge of history; beat Scotland in a thriller ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, 2025
Harrison Carlyon broke Scotland's back early in the first innings to put them on the backfoot by snapping three wickets. Losing half their side for just 43 runs on board, Scotland looked in grave trouble before Matthew Cross held fort with an unbeaten knock to help them finish at 133/7 in their stipulated 20 overs. Jersey were cruising at a point at 81/1 in 11.1 overs with Nick Greenwood leading the chase with a quick 46 off 36 deliveries, before Scotland made a comeback, effecting a mini collapse, courtesy Mark Watt and Chris Greaves. Looking in all sorts of trouble at 110/6 in 16.4 overs, Benjamin Ward kept Jersey in the hunt and brought down the equation to five runs off the final over before getting out off the second delivery, spicing the match up even further. However Jersey crossed the line off the final delivery of the game to pull off a stunning win to keep their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 dreams alive. All eyes will now be on the Netherlands versus Italy game to decide the final two teams to book their flights to India and Sri Lanka next year.

ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier: Four teams remain in contention for a place at next year's T20 World Cup in India, Sri Lanka
New Delhi [India], July 9 (ANI): The race to qualify for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is down to four teams with just two more days of play and four matches remaining, according to the ICC website. Only Guernsey is out of contention at this stage, with Italy, Jersey, Scotland, and hosts the Netherlands still chasing a top-two spot and a place at next year's tournament in India and Sri Lanka. Just one point separates the four sides still in the running, with Jersey recording an emphatic 22-run victory over Guernsey on Tuesday to put an end to the qualification hopes of Oliver Nightingale's side. All-rounder Harrison Carlyon was the star of the show for Jersey in the victory, with the 24-year-old scoring a quickfire half-century and collecting two wickets to keep his side in contention of finishing in the top two places on the standings with one fixture remaining against Scotland. Scotland still have two games remaining at the tournament and are back in the running following their six-run victory over the Netherlands at Voorburg on Tuesday. Oli Hairs hit a half-century to help Scotland post a decent total of 148/9, and a polished bowling performance from Player of the Match Chris Greaves (3/26) and all-rounder Brandon McMullen (2/33) guided Richie Berrington's side home. It sees Scotland rise to third on the standings, with their match against competition pacesetters Italy on Wednesday likely to decide one of the qualifiers for next year's T20 World Cup. The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup in 2026 will feature a total of 20 teams, with the top two on the standings in the European Final to determine two of the sides to progress. (ANI)
