Chiefs Turn Heads With Patrick Mahomes Quarterback Ranking Update

Chiefs Turn Heads With Patrick Mahomes Quarterback Ranking Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is dividing opinion ahead of the 2025 season after two below-par statistical years. Advertisement However, despite that, Mahomes is 25-7 in the regular season and is 6-1 in the postseason with a Super Bowl win. Yes, Patrick's stats are down in each of the past two years with fewer passing yards and touchdowns, but we aren't ready to sell our Mahomes stock in 2025. And neither is Fox Sports' Henry McKenna, who, in his latest quarterback rankings, has Patrick No. 1. "Mahomes might not finish the season with a stellar record, but his individual performances will look a whole lot prettier than last year," McKenna wrote. "The Chiefs invested in the left tackle position in both free agency (Jaylon Moore) and the draft (Josh Simmons). Advertisement "I'm willing to bet that position holds solid throughout the season. If the line keeps it together and the young wideouts (Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy) continue to ascend, Mahomes can finally do more with his offense. Which means he'll be the best QB in the NFL again." Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15).Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images The offensive line allowed 47 sacks (including playoffs) last season, a career-high for Mahomes, plus Rashee Rice was out for the year after Week 4, and Hollywood Brown didn't see the field until Week 16. Additionally, Travis Kelce wasn't at his All-Pro best, so there were numerous factors contributing to the up-and-down nature of Patrick's play. Advertisement Now, with Rice returning, and the hope that Brown and Kelce can have bounce-back seasons, and the offensive line with Jaylon Moore and Josh Simmons can help solidify Mahomes' blindside, there is a chance for No. 15 to have a better season than last year. While having Patrick at No. 1 is subjective, if the Chiefs do have a good season, it isn't too hard to envision Mahomes will be the reason why and be fully deserving of the top spot. 2025 NFL odds: If Dallas Cowboys make playoffs, how far will they go?

The Dallas Cowboys might be America's Team, but based on where the public is putting their money, there doesn't seem to be much faith in their ability to maintain that mantle. At BetMGM, for example, the Eagles are favored to win the NFC East at -175, the Commanders have the highest ticket (33.7%) and highest handle (46.9%), and the Giants are the biggest liability in the division. Perhaps bettors are fading Dallas because it went 7-10 in 2024. But what are the chances the franchise has a get-right season and makes a postseason run in 2025? Well, over at another book, you can bet on that. Let's take a look at the odds for how far the Cowboys will go in the playoffs next season at DraftKings Sportsbook as of June 6. Dallas Cowboys stage of elimination 2025-26 To miss playoffs: -235 (bet $10 to win $14.26 total)To lose in wild-card round: +425 (bet $10 to win $52.50 total)To lose in divisional round: +850 (bet $10 to win $95 total)To lose in conference championship game: +1900 (bet $10 to win $200 total)To lose in Super Bowl: +5500 (bet $10 to win $560 total) To win Super Bowl: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total) In 2024, starting quarterback Dak Prescott's hamstring injury and surgery sidelined him for nine games. But Dallas was still able to achieve seven wins. And NFL reporter Henry McKenna predicts that, if Prescott stays healthy, the 2025 Cowboys will clinch a spot in the wild-card round. "For all the criticism surrounding Jerry Jones, he has put together a nice offseason, addressing the help the Cowboys needed at premium positions," McKenna wrote. "They actually have the fifth-hardest strength of schedule," he noted in his 2025 NFL playoff predictions. "But if you look at their depth chart from top to bottom, they are absurdly talented. Dallas has looked foolish in headlines this offseason, but this team is way more dangerous than we think." "The Facility" co-host James Jones, on the other hand, doesn't have such high hopes for Dallas. "It's hard for me to see the Cowboys bouncing back and really getting back into the playoffs unless the quarterback plays at an MVP level because that is what it's going to take," Jones explained. "And another thing that I'm noticing … is that they got four Thursday games. It is going to be tough to get through this schedule. I think the Cowboys miss the playoffs again." Broncos projected to win division, beat Chiefs in playoffs

Broncos projected to win division, beat Chiefs in playoffs After going 10-7 in 2024 and reaching the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2015, the Denver Broncos seem to be getting more respect from national media members. Last week, Henry McKenna of Fox Sports released his predictions for the 2025 NFL season. He has the Broncos winning the AFC West and entering the playoffs as the AFC's No. 3 seed, behind the Buffalo Bills (No. 2) and Baltimore Ravens (No. 1). Rounding out the conference's playoff field are the Indianapolis Colts (No. 4), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 5), Kansas City Chiefs (No. 6) and Cincinnati Bengals (No. 7). That's right, McKenna has three teams from the AFC West reaching the postseason this fall. His playoff predictions have Denver defeating KC 13-10 in the Wild Card round. The Broncos then bow out in the divisional round with a 17-14 loss to the Bills (a much more respectable result than 2024's playoff game). Fans in Denver would obviously love to go all the way, but if the Broncos win the division this year and then beat the Chiefs in the playoffs, it would be hard to consider that anything less than a big success. Fox Sports has the Bucs in a unique spot in their 2025 playoff prediction

Fox Sports has the Bucs in a unique spot in their 2025 playoff prediction The NFL offseason is all about team building and coaches getting ready to see what front offices give them to work with. It also allows for projecting out how the season may go for teams around the NFL, and that includes the Bucs. Like any team, they have remained busy, and now that free agency and the NFL Draft have come and gone, we know what this roster is going to look like in September and beyond. Henry McKenna of Fox Sports projected out the NFL Playoffs, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were in a rather unique spot. In fact, they were missing from them altogether. According to the projections, the only team making it to the playoffs out of the NFC South is the division winner, which they have as the Carolina Panthers. If the Panthers do make that big of a jump, one would have to the constant turnover at offensive coordinator finally caught up to the Bucs or that a major injury occurred on offense. Also worth noting, would Todd Bowles be on the hot seat if the team were to miss the playoffs altogether? Lots to consider if this is how the season plays out for the team.

Fox Sports predicts where the Vikings will be in the 2025 NFL playoffs

Fox Sports predicts where the Vikings will be in the 2025 NFL playoffs The NFL offseason is all about team building and coaches getting ready to see what front offices give them to work with. It also allows for projecting out how the season may go for teams around the NFL, and that includes the Vikings. Like any team, they have remained busy, and now that free agency and the NFL Draft have come and gone, we know what this roster is going to look like when push comes to shove in September and beyond. Henry McKenna of Fox Sports projected out the NFL Playoffs, and he included the Minnesota Vikings in it, but in a familiar spot. McKenna has the Vikings as the six seed, which would mean they would not win the NFC North. Instead, he has the Lions securing the division and the three seed in the process. Ironically, that would allow them to play each other in the first round of the playoffs, where McKenna projects a win for the Vikings. Their magical season ends in the divisional round, as he has the Washington Commanders usurping them in a close game to reach the NFC Championship. For the Vikings, having the first season of J.J. McCarthy and making a run to the divisional round out of it could be seen as a win. Of course, the ultimate prize will always be a Super Bowl, but in the greater picture, this would be another learning experience for the young quarterback in his second year in the league, and his first year as a starter.
