Valerie Bertinelli's ex Mike Goodnough can't stop talking about her as he now reveals who ended relationship

Valerie Bertinelli's ex Mike Goodnough is once again speaking out about their past relationship—just days after deleting an Instagram post in which he criticized the actress for publicly discussing their breakup. Bertinelli, 64, dated the 54-year-old lifestyle writer for 10 months, from March to November 2024. Although their relationship ended months ago, Goodnough has continued to comment on it via social media. Earlier this month, he posted on Instagram to say he wasn't engaging in a 'war of words' with his ex, though he also accused her of making 'hostile, dishonest, and uncalled-for backhanded swipes.' He later deleted the post and replaced it with a new message reflecting on the breakup, writing that he has 'cried about it enough' and is trying to move on. On Sunday, Goodnough addressed the topic again— this time on Threads —responding to a commenter who suggested Bertinelli had ended things. 'I ended the relationship,' he wrote, adding, 'You tried though. You really tried.' The comment comes after Goodnough appeared to make a subtle dig at Bertinelli in his April Instagram rant, writing, 'Unfortunately, over the past two months, Valerie has been prone to lapsing into a place where she has been playing a one-woman tennis match thinking there is someone on the other side of the net.' He went on to accuse her of misinterpreting his words, adding, 'When in that place, she reads all of my posts, centers herself in them, takes offense over wholly imagined slights, and then lashes out angrily with a 'response' to things that were neither to her or about her.' The result, he claimed, was a false narrative of an ongoing feud. 'Among people who follow us both, that behavior has created the impression that we are going back-and-forth. We are not.' Despite the pointed remarks, Goodnough insisted he still cares for Bertinelli. Reflecting on their past, he shared a bittersweet memory. 'Exactly one year ago, Valerie and I were together for the launch of her book. It was one of the most joyful weeks of my life. 'Taking true deep joy from Valerie's happiness and success was the easiest thing in the world. It is no harder now.' While Goodnough accuses Bertinelli of taking swipes, she had nothing but praise for him earlier this month, calling herself 'so lucky' to have met him and to have him in her life in a heartfelt Instagram post. In her tribute, the actress gave a nod to his newsletter Hoarse Whisperings and showered him with compliments, describing his writing as 'ridiculously beautiful' and praising both his talent and character. Alongside her glowing words, she shared a black-and-white selfie of the two cuddled up, her head resting on his shoulder, along with a screenshot of his Substack newsletter header. Just two weeks earlier, she also said she 'fumbled the last good man' following her 'two failed marriages.'

Valerie Bertinelli Breaks Her Silence About Split from Ex Mike Goodnough 5 Months After News of Their Breakup

Valerie Bertinelli is clarifying her relationship status and her fondness of ex-boyfriend Mike Goodnough. The celebrity chef took to Instagram on Monday, March 3, to share a sweet tribute to her ex, who dated for 10 months before sources confirmed the pair's split in November 2024. 'I met the @therealhoarse in person a year ago today and I am irreversibly changed by him for the better. I know I am becoming a much stronger and more benevolent human for having met him and spent time with him,' the Indulge cookbook author wrote about the professional writer. She continued, explaining that she was initially 'attracted to his writing' before the pair actually met in person. 'It's heartfelt, authentic, smart, funny, sensitive, caring, and from the soul. And the way he puts words together is just sooo ridiculously beautiful. 🤩 I'm a big fan, can you tell?' Bertinelli said. 'And as luck would have it, the human being in person is exactly as heartfelt, authentic, sensitive and caring as his writing. 'I feel so lucky to have gotten to know him, and to really see him and soak up his insights. I value all of our long conversations and they have lead me to interesting and fascinating places I rarely thought to go. I look at life with a different perspective and caring because of my experiences and conversations with him. And he's been a big part of helping me heal from some old childhood wounds I never knew what to do with or even where to start,' she continued, calling for her followers to subscribe to Goodnough's newsletter, Hoarse Whisperings, and 'get the beautiful gift of what it's like to be in his orbit.' She finished the caption by writing, 'Thank you, Mike, we may no longer be a couple, but you'll always hold a very special place in my heart. Love you. ♥️' Related: Valerie Bertinelli Reflects on 'Mistakes' in Relationships: 'Fumbled the Last True Good Man I Met' The Food Network alum has hinted at the split but this tribute is her first time explicitly saying that she and Goodnough are no longer together. She explained that with those relationships, she learned valuable lessons and how to seek an apology.
