Holly Carpenter opens up on 'intimate and chilled' wedding plans as the big day nears

Former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter is set to marry her Cork fiancé Jamie Hunt in an intimate family gathering next Tuesday, can reveal. Clontarf beauty Holly, who turned heads at Friday night's Style Awards in a show-stopping figure-hugging gold floor-length bespoke dress, told us that her wedding dress is dramatically different to her Style Awards creation. 'It's definitely not like my wedding dress,' laughed Holly. 'No, no, no, they are not similar at all.' Holly Carpenter pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy Holly, who was in a jubilant mood as she danced the night away at the VIP Style Awards in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, told that the next special dress she steps into will be her wedding gown. 'So next Tuesday, we're getting married legally in Charlotte Quay Restaurant,' said bride-to-be Holly. And the excited couple's wedding venue of choice holds special meaning for the soon-to-be-wed pair. 'It's the official registry ceremony and Charlotte Quay is the restaurant where we had our first date,' she said. And her big day is to be an intimate family affair. 'Evan Doherty is doing our wedding photos. He's obviously been friends for years, and then it's just 12 of us, so it's just our closest family, and it's going to be really intimate and chilled.' And ever the eternal optimist, Holly said nothing is going to rain on her wedding parade. 'The forecast looks like it might be raining, but it was raining on my mum and dad's wedding day, and it's apparently good luck. So if it's raining, it's raining. I'm just really looking forward to it.' Holly, who was in a jubilant mood as she danced the night away at the VIP Style Awards in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, told that the next special dress she steps into will be her wedding gown. Pic: Instagram/Holly Carpenter Holly's Dublin nuptials will be an emotional family affair as her father Karl, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, will be in attendance to see his only daughter marry. 'Dad is doing okay,' said Holly. 'He's up and down. It's been a lot for him, like, mentally, he's been quite anxious and stuff like that.' But the close-knit Carpenter family are rallying round and taking extra care of their dad. 'He is powering through, and mum's been just taking incredible care of him and all of that. So we're taking it one day at a time.'

Holly Carpenter jokes about why her VIP Style Awards dress was 'almost too cheeky'

Holly Carpenter, whose VIP Style Awards outfit was certainly a showstopper, says she thoroughly enjoyed stepping out in an outfit that was dramatic and enormous fun, despite some wardrobe hazards. Speaking to Holly said: 'It was really, really fun to wear.' 'It was really playful. It was a camp. It was, you know, I think it was a bit cheeky.' Holly Carpenter pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy 'There was a bit of side boob, it was very low at the back. In fact, it was almost actually too cheeky, because it was literally my a**e cheeks were nearly out,' she laughed. Holly was amongst the glitterati who pitched at The Intercontinental Hotel for Friday night's VIP Style Awards and says while she would have loved to have won Best Dressed on the night, she was thrilled her Miss Ireland friend, model Lyn Kelly, narrowly beat her to the award. 'Lynn Kelly actually won the best dressed on the night,' said Holly. 'Apparently it was very close, but I was like, 'I would have loved to win', but I'm delighted for Lynn and it was a great night and that's what it's really all about.' Holly Carpenter pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy Holly's jaw-dropping gold dress and floral embellished flowing cape was designed by Irish courtier Sachin, whose pieces she favours. 'So there's a designer called Sachin and his clothing line is called SJW design, and he designed this whole thing himself. 'He had a vision, and I just went with it. I just totally trusted him. He has dressed me before. I wore a red dress with wet-look hair last year, the year before. It was my second time wearing his pieces, and he's just so talented.'

The Good, the Bad and the Grand..Celebs descend on D4 hotel for Style Awards

From the show-stoppers to the jaw-droppers, the daringly overstated to the equally eye-catching under-rated, the VIP Style Awards red carpet showcased the good, the bad and the grand of Irish fashion. Racy side-splits, to raunchy bodice-ripped to belly-baring midriffs to the more demurely turned-out reserved, the celebrity set turned up and turned the style-o-meter up a serious notch at the 2025 VIP Style Awards. The red carpet was a veritable fashion catwalk, ranging from the pared-back to the dramatically over-the-top. There was on trend haute couture to old-style classic creations. There was to quote the legend that was Gay Byrne, something for everyone in the sartorial audience. Suzanne Jackson pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy The indisputable queen of the dramatics has to go to former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter. The beauty queen turned every head in attendance as she rocked up looking like she just stepped out of a mish-mash of movie sets. From her golden globette, gold eyelet slinky dress, to her Disney villain marvel hero black and gold flowing cape, Holly showcased panache with her own inimitable sass for serious fashionable measure. Pic: Brian McEvoy While the old fashion adage is duly considered to be 'legs or boob's, never both' the sartorial rule book was well and truly flung out the window of the Intercontinental penthouse suite. As a parade of leggy ladies alighted from their Uber cabs and onto the rolled-out red carpet, showing style for miles, with many giving Angelina Jolie's iconic Cannes leg-on-display moment a run for her money. And talk about Tickle Me Elmo. it does, after all appear, that birds of a feather do indeed flock together as frocks ruffled feathers at the five-star Intercontinental Hotel in the leafy environs of Ballsbridge. Sarah McInerney pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy The nation's favourite chirpy chatterbox, Elaine Crowley, was perhaps the more reserved among those who opted for feather-inspired attire. The Ireland AM presenter certainly wasn't feeling the blues with her statement birds of paradise feather peacock earnings, which were perfectly matched with her blue feather clutch, which Elaine offset with a unique feather boa style creation adorning her leather-gloved arm . And while there was the daring, the creative and the outrageous, there was also a strong contingent of the pared back. Influencer and new mum Louise Cooney opted for a simple yet nonetheless standout stylish cerise pink mini designer dress. No less than three mums-to-be were positively bloomingly beautiful as they arrived with baby-on-board for their not-yet-born celebrity offspring's first ever high society outing. Dragons Den beautypreneur Pamela Laird looked the business as she proudly cradled her baby bump for her soon-to-arrive little ones' very first paparazzi pic. Pic: Brian McEvoy And Dancing with the Stars stylist Clementine MacNeice chose a midriff-baring two-piece for her baby bump picture-perfect moment. And three's company as Influencer Terri McEvoy was baby blu-eatiful in a simple yet stunning light blue pleated dress as she arrived with her lovey-dovey dapper hubby David for a right family affair. Pic: Brian McEvoy While some worthy winners will end up with a coveted VIP Style Award gong, and others will leave empty handed, the awards mark another celebration of Irish fashion for not just the celebrity set, but the designers, and for the masses who never fail to have their own favourites from the stunning array of style on display.
