Thai man dies in crash after stealing car, bike

SUNGAI PETANI: A Thai man was killed in a collision with a lorry on the Sungai Lalang–Bukit Selambau road, shortly after stealing a car and a motorcycle. The man, who worked as a helper at a local restaurant, is believed to have begun his ill-fated journey around 6pm on Monday, when he allegedly stole a Perodua Kancil belonging to his employer in Bedong. "Upon reaching Ambangan Heights, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a Perodua Viva. "The crash caused engine damage, rendering the car immobile," said Kuala Muda district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan. "At the scene of the first accident, the man then stole a Honda Wave motorcycle from a passer-by who had stopped to help and fled in the direction of Bukit Selambau." However, his escape was short-lived. After riding for approximately 10km, the man was involved in another collision—this time with a lorry. "He died at the scene from severe head and body injuries. He is believed to have been in his 20s," Hanyan added. Later that evening, police received two separate reports of vehicle theft—one from the employer and another from the motorcycle owner. "Preliminary investigations have confirmed that the deceased was involved in both thefts. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

Johor Baru South (JPS) police deputy chief Supt Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei said the incident is believed to have taken place when the victim, 23, the rider of a Honda Wave motorcycle from Kemas who was headed to Johor Baru, lost control of his motorcycle at about 6.25 am today. He stated that upon reaching the scene, the victim lost control of the motorcycle and skidded, falling onto the right lane. 'Then, a 33-year-old local man riding a Yamaha Xmax motorcycle and the driver of a Toyota Vios stopped their vehicles to help the victim, but the Toyota Vios was rear-ended by a Honda City. Motorcyclist crashes - then fatally hit during rescue

JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist was killed after losing control and being struck by a car at Km1.6 of the North-South Expressway heading towards the city centre earlier today. The accident, which occurred at 6.25am, also involved another motorcycle and two cars, all of which were subsequently hit by the same vehicle. Johor Baru South deputy police chief Superintendent Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei said that initial investigations suggested the accident happened when the victim, a 23-year-old man riding a Honda Wave motorcycle, lost control of his vehicle. "The victim, who was travelling from Kempas towards Johor Baru, lost control and skidded, causing him to fall onto the right-hand lane," he said. "A 33-year-old Yamaha XMax motorcyclist and the driver of a Toyota Vios, who were passing by, stopped in the middle and right-hand lanes to assist the victim." "However, the Toyota Vios was then hit from behind by a Honda City," he added in a statement today. Azrul said that while the drivers of the Toyota Vios and Honda City were attempting to move their vehicles to allow the Yamaha XMax rider to help the victim, a Subaru Impreza — driven by a Singaporean man travelling in the right-hand lane — failed to avoid the scene and collided with the victim, who was lying on the road. "The Subaru Impreza also struck the Yamaha XMax motorcyclist, the Toyota Vios, and the Honda City," he said. He added that the Honda Wave motorcyclist died at the scene, while the Yamaha XMax rider sustained a fractured right leg and is currently receiving treatment in the Yellow Zone of Sultanah Aminah Hospital. Azrul said that none of the car drivers involved suffered serious injuries. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.
