North Carolina basketball has tripled roster spending for 2025-26 season
North Carolina basketball has tripled roster spending for 2025-26 season A report states that UNC basketball is spending triple for the roster. The 2025-26 season is a very important one for the North Carolina Tar Heels' basketball program. After a season in which they barely made the NCAA Tournament and then had a first-round exit, it's on Hubert Davis and the staff to get things in order. And they are getting the resources to do just that. The Tar Heels will have a whole new roster next season, with five new starters and the return of Seth Trimble who was a key piece a year ago. They re-tooled the roster, landing an impressive transfer class as well as bringing in a top 10 recruiting class. With the addition of Jim Tanner at General Manager, key moves were made and the money was spent. In fact, a lot of money was spent. Per Inside Carolina's Greg Barnes, the Tar Heels' have surpassed the $14 million mark in its financial commitment to the 2025-26 roster. Here is what Barnes wrote in Monday's report: Multiple sources have confirmed that UNC has surpassed the $14 million mark in its financial commitment to the 2025-26 roster, approximately triple what was spent on the roster a year ago. Men's basketball executive director and general manager Jim Tanner's $850,000 salary represents another bullet point in confirming the university's support of its prized program. It will take time to see if this roster is constructed correctly, but going out and spending money is a good first step for the program. The struggles of last season forced North Carolina to do this and rightfully so. Davis can't afford another year of being on the bubble, despite making the tournament in two of those three seasons on the bubble. There needs to bean improvement made to make the program feel confident about the future. And in this new NIL era, North Carolina is hopefully finally catching up. UNC basketball, Hubert Davis get recruit to help replace Drake Powell on 2025-26 roster
Hubert Davis is adding an international prospect to UNC basketball's 2025-26 roster, filling an area of need for the Tar Heels. Luke Bogavac, a 6-foot-5 Montenegrin wing, has committed to UNC, according to several reports. ESPN's Jonathan Givony first broke the news on May 31. Advertisement A 21-year-old player for SC Derby in the Montenegrin Basketball League and ABA League, Bogavac averaged 14.9 points on 45% shooting, including 40% from 3-point range, along with 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in the 2024-25 season. Kyan Evans (Colorado State), Jarin Stevenson (Alabama), Henri Veesaar (Arizona), Jonathan Powell (West Virginia) and Jaydon Young (Virginia Tech) are UNC's additions via the portal. Luka Bogavac helps Hubert Davis, UNC basketball replace Drake Powell The addition of Bogavac will help the Tar Heels fill the gap left by Drake Powell, a 6-foot-6 wing who entered the 2025 NBA Draft after his freshman season in Chapel Hill. Bogavac scored 19 or more points in eight of his final 15 ABA games, dropping a season-high 27 points – with five 3-pointers – on April 25. He also had 24 points, including seven treys, on March 30. The addition gives Hubert Davis' roster some much-needed shooting and stability as a playmaker on the wing. As it stands, Bogavac figures to slide in as a starter in a lineup that could include Evans, senior leader Seth Trimble, Wilson and Veesaar. UNC Basketball lands commitment from international prospect
UNC Basketball lands commitment from international prospect North Carolina adds another player to 2025-26 roster. Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have added another significant piece to their 2025-26 roster as we get set to enter the Summer months. After weeks of speculation and recruiting international prospects, the Tar Heels have finally landed a big target. On Saturday, international wing Luka Bogavac committed to North Carolina per Jonathan Givony of ESPN. The Montenegrin wing played for SC Derby and was a top-five scorer in the Adriatic League overseas. He averaged 14.9 points per game and shot 40 percent from the three-point line. The 6-foot-5, 201-pound wing can provide some much-needed shooting from the wing, a spot UNC struggled with last season. Davis and his staff were in search of another wing after Drake Powell stayed in the NBA Draft and have now found that. UNC basketball offers rising three-star shooting guard
UNC basketball offers rising three-star shooting guard Hubert Davis has extended an offer to another 2026 recruit. North Carolina basketball head coach Hubert Davis has his eyes on some rising prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, as evident by new offers on Thursday. After the Tar Heels offered a four-star point guard earlier in the day, they also extended an offer to another prospect. Three-star shooting guard Kohl Rosario was the latest prospect to pick up an offer from UNC, doing so on Thursday night. And the Tar Heels are the latest blue blood program to enter the race. In a span of three days, Rosario has picked up offers from Kansas, Duke, and now North Carolina after his strong play on the AAU circuit. His stock is on the rise as a prospect coming off a big performance in the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament, scoring 30 points in a game. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound Rosario hails out of Hudson, North Carolina and plays at Moravian Prep. He's ranked No. 120 nationally, the No. 21 shooting guard and No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. In the composite rankings, he's a four-star recruit and a top 100 prospect. His recent play and the addition of offers from blue blood programs should also see his rank increase over time. For North Carolina, it will be interesting to see how much of a priority they make Rosario moving forward.
