UNC basketball, Hubert Davis get recruit to help replace Drake Powell on 2025-26 roster
Hubert Davis is adding an international prospect to UNC basketball's 2025-26 roster, filling an area of need for the Tar Heels.
Luke Bogavac, a 6-foot-5 Montenegrin wing, has committed to UNC, according to several reports. ESPN's Jonathan Givony first broke the news on May 31.

A 21-year-old player for SC Derby in the Montenegrin Basketball League and ABA League, Bogavac averaged 14.9 points on 45% shooting, including 40% from 3-point range, along with 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in the 2024-25 season.

Bogavac will be at least the ninth newcomer to join the Tar Heels, who have added five players via the transfer portal and three incoming freshmen. Kyan Evans (Colorado State), Jarin Stevenson (Alabama), Henri Veesaar (Arizona), Jonathan Powell (West Virginia) and Jaydon Young (Virginia Tech) are UNC's additions via the portal.

Luka Bogavac helps Hubert Davis, UNC basketball replace Drake Powell
The addition of Bogavac will help the Tar Heels fill the gap left by Drake Powell, a 6-foot-6 wing who entered the 2025 NBA Draft after his freshman season in Chapel Hill.
Bogavac scored 19 or more points in eight of his final 15 ABA games, dropping a season-high 27 points – with five 3-pointers – on April 25. He also had 24 points, including seven treys, on March 30.
The addition gives Hubert Davis' roster some much-needed shooting and stability as a playmaker on the wing. As it stands, Bogavac figures to slide in as a starter in a lineup that could include Evans, senior leader Seth Trimble, Wilson and Veesaar.

Oklahoma beats North Carolina to force winner-take-all game Monday The UNC baseball team faces a must-win game on Monday. The North Carolina Tar Heels' baseball program will be playing for its season on Monday in Chapel Hill. After entering Sunday's regional final with a 2-0 record, fresh off a big win over Oklahoma, the Tar Heels now face a do-or-die deciding game on Monday after falling to the Sooners 9-5 on Sunday night. North Carolina fell behind in the bottom of the third when Oklahoma took a 1-0 lead. They did battle back to tie the game with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Sooners answered back with a run of their own. The Tar Heels then took the lead in the top of the fifth on a Gavin Gallaher two-out double that plated two runs and gave UNC the 3-2 advantage. It was short lived, however. A few walks and then an error allowed Oklahoma to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth and the Sooners didn't look back, grabbing the lead for good. The Sooners got a two-run home run, a double and a single to plate five in that inning, which was the backbreaker for the Tar Heels. Although UNC answered back with two runs in the top of the seventh, the Sooners plated one run in the seventh and eighth innings. They also kept UNC scoreless in the eighth after the Tar Heels loaded the bases with no outs, threatening to tie or take the lead. UNC's pitching struggled, walking nine batters as the Tar Heels used starter Aidan Haugh and five relievers throughout the game. Haugh gave up just the one earned run in 3.2 innings pitched. The Tar Heels' lineup also struggled as the two through six hitters had just four hits with Gallaher having three of those hits. The loss now forces the winner-take-all game on Monday in Chapel Hill with the winner punching their ticket to the super regional. Due to NCAA rules, Oklahoma will be designated as the home team. Advertisement North Carolina's Gavin Gallaher drove in three runs with a leadoff home run in the fourth inning and a two-run double in the sixth, giving the Tar Heels a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Dickerson's two-run home run put Oklahoma ahead 4-3. Jaxon Willits added a double that scored two unearned runs for a 6-3 lead. After an RBI groundout by Luke Stevenson, Gallaher doubled to score another run to make it 7-5 in the seventh. Gallaher finished with three hits and four RBIs for the Tar Heels (44-13). Trailing 8-5 in the top of the eighth, North Carolina loaded the bases on a walk, single and another walk with nobody out. Reliever Dylan Crooks got a strikeout and two flyouts to get out of the jam. Advertisement Dasan Harris added a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to cap the scoring. James Hitt (3-0) got the win although he allowed four runs in two innings.
