OIC Participates in ICYF International Youth Volunteers Camp in Türkiye

Mohamed Mandour The OIC General Secretariat participates in the International Youth Volunteers Camp organized by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) in Antalya (Republic of Türkiye) from 29 April to 3 May 2025. At the opening ceremony, the representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Türkiye, including the local representative of the Youth and Sports Ministry in Antalya and the Representatives from ICYF and its partners, attended the event. In his speech on behalf of the OIC General Secretariat, Dr. Boubakari Maiga, Head of the Youth and Sports Department, indicated that Volunteer work has recently emerged as a societal message aimed at enhancing participation in building human capacities and individual skills, achieving social solidarity, and expressing the vitality of society, as well as the willingness of its members to commit themselves to dedication and sacrifice. He added that OIC, through its Program of Action - 2025, as well as the relevant resolutions adopted by the CFM and the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports ministers, attaches great importance to the volunteer work and the empowerment and capacity building of youth. Dr. Boubakari Maiga conveyed the OIC General Secretariat's deep appreciation to the Republic of Türkiye for its efforts to support the OIC General Secretariat and ICYF's activities and programs in this regard. OIC, ICYF Host Side Event on Innovative Financing for Gender-Sensitive Social Protection at CSW69

Mohamed Mandour The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) successfully hosted a side event on 'Pathways to Innovative Financing for Gender-Sensitive Social Protection for Displaced Youth and Girls' on the sidelines of the 69th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in New York. Dr. Amany Asfour, Member of the National Council for Women of Egypt (NCW), chaired the event, representing the Arab Republic of Egypt, Chair of the 8th Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women. Amb. Hameed Ajibaiye Opeloyeru, Permanent Observer of the OIC to the UN, delivered the welcoming speech on behalf of the OIC General Secretariat. The panel featured distinguished speakers, including Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs of Nigeria; Rasul Omarov, Director General of ICYF; and Ms. Kristine Leonardo of Religions for Peace International. Discussions focused on leveraging innovative financing mechanisms to strengthen gender-responsive social protection for displaced youth and girls, particularly in conflict-affected settings. The event concluded with key recommendations on scaling best practices, fostering partnerships, and mobilizing resources to enhance social protection systems across OIC Member States.
