Desiltation of SRSP, Kadem and other projects will be taken up to restore original storage capacity: Uttam
Stating that the storage capacity of the Sriramsagar Project (SRSP) has dwindled due to accumulation of silt, Minister for Civil Supplies and Irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that desilting and dredging works will be taken up in adherence to modern techniques. Similarly, desiltation of Kadem and other projects will be taken up by using modern methods to enhance their storage capacity, he said while addressing a review meeting with the officials of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla districts in Karimnagar on Thursday. IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar were present. The meeting had reviewed the implementation of Indiramma Housing Scheme, the Bhu Bharati initiative, paddy procurement and preparations for Kharif season, officials said. Mr. Reddy said the MLAs and MPs concerned will be involved in the exercise of devising the action plans for the release of water for Kharif season. Telangana achieved a record-breaking paddy production of over 130 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in around 60 lakh acres in Yasangi (rabi) season. He added that an amount of Rs 13,000 crore has been paid to farmers towards Yasangi paddy procurement till May 28, 2025. During the same period in 2023, only Rs 3,500 crore was paid to farmers under the previous BRS government, he said. Congress strengthened the Irrigation sector appointing 1100 engineers and 1800 Laskars. He asked Jagtial Collector to consult the officials concerned to speed up the process of obtaining forest clearance for the Rollavagu project. He said the Narayanapuram reservoir, Kondagattu lift irrigation scheme and Kalikota Suramma projects will be completed in an expeditious manner. He said all the leaders should cooperate with the judicial commission probing the Medigadda barrage incident. Appropriate action will be taken based on the judicial commission report, he added.

Kaleshwaram soaks in spiritual fervour as the 12-day Saraswati Pushkaralu draws to a close
Devotional fervour reached a crescendo in Kaleshwaram as the 12-day-long Saraswati Pushkaralu, which was marked by spiritual vivacity, celebration of spiritual traditions and devotional discourses, concluded amid spiritually surcharged atmosphere in the historic pilgrimage centre of Telangana's Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, on Monday (May 26, 2025). An estimated 30 lakh pilgrims took a holy dip at Triveni Sangamam, the confluence of three rivers — Godavari, Pranahita and the subterranean Aantarvahini Saraswati — in Kaleshwaram during the mega religious fete from May 15 to 26, officials said. The 'Saraswati Nava Ratnamala Harathi' was performed at the picturesque Saraswati Ghat, illuminated by colourful lights, late on Monday evening, marking the culmination of the once-in-12-years mega religious fete. Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu, Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and Endowments department Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer were among those present. Kaleshwaram was soaked in spiritual ecstasy as hordes of pilgrims swarmed Triveni Sangamam earlier in the day. The historic temple, dedicated to Sri Kaleshwara Mukteshwara Swamy, was abuzz with pilgrims standing in long-winding queues waiting for their turn to have darshan of the presiding deities from dawn to dusk. Speaking at Saraswati Ghat late on Monday evening, Mr. Sridhar Babu appreciated the official machinery, NGOs and others for their tireless efforts in ensuring the successful conduct of Saraswati Pushkaralu in a befitting manner.

Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee to join TelanganaRising advisory board
Development economist and Nobel Prize winner Abhijit Banerjee appreciated the pioneering efforts of Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, like recruitment of transgender individuals into Police and Municipal departments, envisioning the Hyderabad core urban area within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) as a pure-services zone, and creating skills and sports universities. He also accepted the invitation from the Chief Minister to join the Vision Board of TelanganaRising as advisor. On Saturday, Mr. Banerjee met the Chief Minister and deliberated on several innovative ideas in urban development, economic growth, augmenting public revenues, fiscal discipline, large-scale skilling and job creation. While discussing mass-scale job creation, the Nobel laureate spoke of the need to create unique short-term courses in traditional skills with modern design and appeal, marketing and the use of social media technology to help traditional artisans turn into modern entrepreneurs. He also suggested to the Chief Minister that crafts, arts and creativity should be a significant part of the Bharat Future City. Outlining Hyderabad's historically global vision and the global reach of products made in the region, Chief Minister spoke of the need to create global awareness. Mr. Reddy also elaborated on various empowerment programmes for women self-help groups, youth and farmers. Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C. V. Anand and other officials participated in the discussion.

Bhatti, wife take part in Saraswati Pushkaralu in Kaleshwaram
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka took a holy dip at Triveni Sangamam in Kaleshwaram on the second day of Saraswati Pushkaralu. He along with his wife Nandini offered a traditional 'sare' (sari with blouse piece) to the river and worshipped goddess Saraswati amid Vedic chants by priests of Sri Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy temple at Saraswati Ghat late on Friday evening. IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu received the Deputy Chief Minister on his arrival. Mr. Vikramarka visited the Saraswati Ghat where a 17-foot-tall statue of Goddess Saraswati was unveiled by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Kaleshwaram on the inaugural day of Saraswati Pushkaralu on Thursday.

KTR to inaugurate facility of UK-based company

Rama Rao has received an invitation from Pragmatic Design Solutions Limited (PDSL), a leading UK-based engineering services company, to inaugurate their state-of-the-art Knowledge Centre at Warwick Technology Park, United Kingdom, on May 30. PDSL, which supports elite automotive brands like McLaren, Aston Martin, and Jaguar Land Rover, is launching a new Near Shore Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Automotive Test Facility, an advanced incubation centre for automotive development and testing, according to PDSL Director Kranthi Puppala.
