UAE: How to master power dressing in 2025 using Apple TV+'s 'Severance‭' for inspiration

Eid celebrations are over‭, ‬school holidays are winding down and regular office hours have resumed‭. ‬The UAE is back to business‭. ‬And‭, ‬for the first time since Covid took a wrecking ball to office dress codes‭, ‬workwear is at the top of the fashion agenda‭, ‬thanks to the most-watched TV show in the history of Apple TV‭+, ‬the sci-fi dystopian thriller‭ ‬ Severance‭. ‬ If you've not seen it‭ (‬and you really must‭), ‬the overall premise is an exploration of what happens if our work lives are entirely separated from our home lives‭. ‬The protagonists undergo a procedure that separates their conscious into Innies‭ (‬corporate drudges tasked with‭ ‬'work that is mysterious and important'‭ ‬for Lumon Industries‭, ‬their employer and inventor of the severing concept‭) ‬and Outies‭, ‬the side of the self that gets to live life‭, ‬blissfully ignorant of office politics‭, ‬and immune from Sunday night dread as the work week looms‭. ‬To be‭ ‬'severed'‭ ‬promises the ideal work:life balance‭.‬ As you'd expect from Apple‭, ‬the production design is impeccable‭, ‬a masterclass in storytelling through the use of colour‭. ‬On the severed floor at Lumon‭, ‬the protagonists of the Macrodata Refinement team are shown via a palette of almost exclusively blue and green‭. ‬Not since the 1988‭ ‬movie‭ ‬Working Girl‭ ‬made Melanie Griffiths'‭ ‬boxy suits and bouffant hair‭ ‬de rigueur‭, ‬has office style been so aesthetically all-in‭. ‬But while‭ ‬Working Girl‭ ‬was about power dressing‭, ‬Severance's corporate automatons are powerless‭. ‬Each day they are dressed by their Outie‭, ‬consciousness switching to their innie persona in the Lumon Industries elevator‭. ‬'She dresses me in the morning‭, ‬like I'm a baby‭,‬'‭ ‬bemoans Helly R‭, ‬played by Britt Lower‭, ‬of her Outie's control over what she finds herself wearing each day‭. ‬While the conflict between Helly R's inside and outside selves is central to the show's narrative thread‭ (‬no spoilers here‭), ‬were I in her nude‭, ‬block-heeled shoes‭, ‬I'd be less quick to condemn my Outie's fashion choices‭. ‬Like Apple's iconic founder‭, ‬the late Steve Jobs‭, ‬who wore an Issey Miyake black turtleneck‭, ‬Levi's 501‭ ‬blue jeans and New Balance trainers from the 1990s until his death in 2011‭, ‬there is something to be said for a workwear wardrobe that is reliable‭, ‬repeatable and rudimentary‭, ‬as Lumon Industries'‭ ‬verbose Mr Milchick may or may not have said‭. ‬ As‭ ‬ Severance 's central female character‭, ‬and the standard bearer for the show's style credentials‭, ‬Helly R's office wear‭, ‬as chosen by her Outie Helena‭, ‬revolves around some form of blue A-line pencil skirt‭, ‬three-quarter length sleeve‭ ‬knit top‭, ‬and those nude heels‭ (‬specifically French footwear brand Repetto's Marlow style‭; ‬designed for dancers‭, ‬durable for eight hours at your desk‭, ‬whether your job entails running down Lumon Industries'‭ ‬endless sterile corridors or not‭). ‬There are no prints‭, ‬no extraneous detail‭, ‬and very little variation in silhouette‭, ‬bar the‭ ‬occasional shift dress‭. ‬Build a wardrobe of mix-and-match block-coloured basics‭, ‬and you too can devote as little time as Helly‭ ‬R does to thinking about what to wear for work‭ (‬even if her lack of sartorial say-so is down to bioengineering rather than free‭ ‬will‭). ‬The trick is to find a palette you are comfortable working within‭, ‬pun entirely intended‭. ‬For me‭, ‬it would be a spectrum‭ ‬of beige‭, ‬from ivory to camel‭ (‬do not attempt this if you have children under the age of five‭). ‬Then‭, ‬harness the discipline to‭ ‬shop only within those shades‭, ‬sticking to simple shapes that suit your body type‭. ‬Thus‭, ‬in true Lumon style‭, ‬freeing your creativity and frivolity to run wild outside of office hours‭. ‬Just not too wild‭. ‬Where Helly R's wardrobe is a lesson in restraint‭, ‬it's wise to be discerning in your choice of televisual style cues‭. ‬I once got carried away watching a‭ ‬Love Is Blind‭ ‬reunion show‭, ‬ending up down a Google rabbit hole and impulsively ordering a floor-length rhinestone sheath dress from partywear brand Babyboo‭. ‬ It looked fantastic on screen‭, ‬but‭, ‬being neither a reality TV star‭, ‬nor a highschooler with an upcoming prom‭, ‬it has yet to emerge from its box‭. ‬In a world of unlimited style choices‭, ‬there's something to be said for limiting your shopping self's freedom of thought‭ (‬Season 3‭ ‬of‭ ‬ Severance‭?). ‬So‭, ‬the next time a new series of‭ ‬ Selling Sunset ‭ ‬tempts me with the prospect of 150mm heels‭, ‬I'll stream some discordant jazz and hit up Clarks for a Helly/Helena-approved court shoe instead‭.‬

Kid Rock Appears With Donald Trump In Oval Office As POTUS Signs Executive Order On Concert Ticket Reselling

Kid Rock appeared with Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Monday evening for what has become a daily ritual for the president: the signing of an executive order. This time, the EO was aimed at ticket scalping. The order simply directs the Federal Trade Commission to work with the Attorney General to make sure that laws are enforced. 'Anyone who has bought a concert ticket in the last decade, maybe 20 years, not matter what, knows it is a conundrum,' Kid Rock said. '… They get all the good tickets to your favorite shows you want to go to, and then they are relisted immediately sometimes for a 4[00], 500 percent markup.' He said artists don't see ay of that money. 'Ultimately, I think this is a great first step. I would love down the road if there'd be some legislation that could actually put a cap on the resale of tickets.' Trump referred to Kid Rock as 'Bob,' for his real name, Robert James Ritchie. Kid Rock has set up a meeting with Trump and Bill Maher, who long has made the president a butt of his jokes and satire. The rocker's appearance may signal that a meeting will take place soon, with one source saying it may happen as soon as Tuesday. The White House and reps for Maher did not respond to requests for comment. Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday, 'I got a call from a very good guy, and friend of mine, Kid Rock, asking me whether or not it would be possible for me to meet, in the White House, with Bill Maher, a man who has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone, TRUMP. I really didn't like the idea much, and don't like it much now, but thought it would be interesting. The problem is, no matter how much he likes your Favorite President, ME, he will publicly proclaim what a terrible guy I am, etc., very much like the Democrats at my recent Address to the Joint Session of Congress, where I stated, correctly, that no matter what I said or did, they wouldn't stand, they wouldn't applaud, they wouldn't smile or laugh and, certainly, they wouldn't be in any way 'nice.' Who knows, though, maybe I'll be proven wrong? In any event, I'm doing a favor for a friend. I look forward to meeting with Bill Maher, Kid Rock and, I believe, even the Legendary Dana White will be present. It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!' After THAT Finale, We Can't Stop Thinking About 'Severance' Season 3 — Here's Everything We Know So Far

Following an excruciating near-three-year wait, Apple TV+ finally delivered the second season of Severance in January. We all returned to the offices of Lumon alongside Mark S., Helly R., Dylan G., and Irv, where Mr. Milchick ascended the ranks as the floor manager of the severed floor, and the work of the MDR department remained nothing short of mysterious yet important. Buuut, after the "Cold Harbor" finale last week, we certainly got some of the answers that we've been looking for after two whole seasons. Just hours after airing, Tim Cook and Ben Stiller confirmed that Apple TV+ had ordered a third season of Severance. Praise Kier! View this video on YouTube Theories are running rampant online surrounding the direction of the show in the next season. But before we dive into what we know about season 3 of Severance, let's recap what we learned in the season finale. Ms. Cobel finally reveals the sinister operations at Lumon and Mark's significance to the company. He has been instrumental in creating multiple consciousnesses for his wife, Gemma, who is alive and held captive as Ms. Casey. Mark's task, including the Cold Harbor file, involved refining data clusters that corresponded to these personas, effectively constructing new identities for use within Lumon's severance program. And "Cold Harbor," the highly discussed file throughout the series, is finally revealed to be the final test in the Macrodata Refinement project that creates new consciousnesses for Gemma, Mark's wife, as part of Lumon's experiments to test the severance chip's ability to suppress core emotional responses. And seemingly, the end of Gemma Scout's existence as we knew it. Calling back to "Chikhai Bardo," the baby crib in the Cold Harbor room serves as an emotional trigger related to Gemma's past miscarriage, and her dismantling of it without emotion demonstrates the chip's effectiveness in erasing deeply ingrained trauma. Meanwhile, we got to see Innie Mark and Outie Mark share their first conversation together. While it was kind of heartwarming at first, it didn't take long for things to take a turn once Innie Mark realized that he, along with the rest of the Innies at Lumon, might not exist if Outie Mark had his way. Of course, this episode took us through a serious and violent journey that saw Mark catching a body (I'm still wondering how a court would hold an innie accountable...), finally finding Gemma, and sadly, abandoning her at the last minute (as his Innie) so he could remain inside Lumon with Helly R. Speaking of Helly R., as part of this plan to take down Lumon and save Gemma, she led the revolt on the severed floor that saw her and Dylan G. imprisoning Mr. Milchick in a bathroom. We also have to mention that creepy look on her face at the end of the episode that spurred theories that it was actually Helena Eagan. The ending gave much more closure than the cliffhanger of season one (and a stellar marching band performance led by Tramell Tillman), yet there are still many more questions that need to be addressed. Without further ado, here's everything we know about season 3 of Severance. The good news: we probably won't be waiting another three years between seasons. A few factors played into the delay between the first and second season including the writers and actors strikes in 2023. So it seems like everyone is hopeful that the next season of Severance will be back in the near future including both Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller. "I would love to finish the show before I'm 70," Erickson told Entertainment Weekly. "I would hope that season 3 comes sooner," he continued. "Certainly a big part of it was the fact that we had the strikes which shut us down for five or six months for production. And there was a difference between that and being shut down for Covid in season 1, because when we were shut down for Covid, I was still writing that whole time, and this time literally it was pencils down. I was making an effort to not even really look at or think about the scripts during that time." He added, "... Having done it twice now, there is more of a sense of understanding procedurally what works and how to streamline it, so our goal is never to draw out people's pain for three years. And I hope that we don't have to do that again." Hopefully, 2026? Even better, Ben Stiller already confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter in February that they were working on the new season in a writers' room, adding that he hoped that we wouldn't have to wait three years between seasons, again. Speaking of writers' rooms, it appears that they've recruited new showrunners for the third season, according to Nexus Point News. Per the Writers Guild of America database, Eli Jorne (Walking Dead) and Mary Laws (Succession) will be joining Erickson for the third season, replacing Chris Black and Mark Friedman, who served as showrunners in seasons 1 and 2. There isn't a whole lot of information surrounding the plot of the upcoming season or what might happen to Mark and the gang after breaking Gemma out of Lumon. However, as pointed out by Harper's Bazaar, the final shot of the season finale strongly indicates what's to come in season 3. Apple TV+ "For me, that image was just in my head from the beginning — when we said, OK, we're going to go this far and this is where we're going to take it,' Stiller told Indie Wire. 'You don't see freeze-frames at the end of movies that often these days, but it used to be done a lot more. It's just kind of this moment in time where you're like, 'Oh, wow, this is the end of the movie, but it's going to keep going. We just don't know where it's going to go.'" The most important question is, who will be making their return? Adam Scott suggested that we might see the whole crew back on screen again, which makes sense. After all, the last time we saw Dylan G., he rallied the Choreography and Merriment department against Milchick while Mark S. and Helly R. ran off. Apple TV+ "I couldn't be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole 'Severance' team," Scott said in a statement announcing the show's renewal. However, a key question surrounds the return of Irving, played by John Turturro. By the end of episode 9, Irving boards a train with his dog, Radar, after Burt (Christopher Walken) spares his life and tells him to never return to Kier again. It could be the end of Irving's story as we know it but there's a chance it might not be. "When you're doing scenes at the end of the season, it's always tricky to find that sweet spot," he told The Wrap about that emotional scene at the train station with Burt. "Because you think it could be the end, but it maybe it's not the end." What's a bit more promising is that Turturro said he's in "open" conversation with Stiller and Erickson about what could come next. "If there's stuff that's good and active and interesting to do, then I could see that, yeah,' Turturro said. 'If people wanted there to be [a third season], there could be, and there could be big, big surprises too. You know, Irving's left all those paintings behind. There's a reason why they went into his apartment, why they're looking around.' Although details on the plot of Severance season 3 are still under wraps, the wait for answers is already unbearable. Does outie Mark reunite with Gemma in the outside world? Will Milchick survive the revolt of the innies at Lumon? And how deep does the rabbit hole go? Share your best theories below.

Severance's Tramell Tillman Breaks Down Milchick's Finale Dance Moves, Hints That ‘Everything's in Danger' in Season 3

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Friday's Season 2 finale. Mr. Milchick once again showed us he can cut a rug in Severance's season finale — but it looks like some of his Innies are choosing to cut and run. More from TVLine Severance Star, USC Marching Band Make Quite an Entrance at PaleyFest - Watch Severance's Dichen Lachman Dissects Finale's 'Heartbreaking' Twist, Season 3 'Possibilities' for Gemma - Watch Severance's Bloody, Brilliant Finale Gives Us Some Long-Awaited Answers - and Another Huge Cliffhanger In Friday's finale, Milchick rewarded Mark for completing the Cold Harbor file with 'Choreography & Merriment,' bringing a full marching band into the office — and leading them with some spry dance moves. But Mark had other ideas, sprinting off to save Gemma while Helly and Dylan used a vending machine to block Milchick inside the bathroom. Eventually, he forced his way out, but Helly convinced the marching band to join their rebellion, and Mark managed to free Gemma… although his Innie opted to stay inside with Helly rather than leave with Gemma. (Read our full finale recap here.) TVLine reached out to Tramell Tillman, who has been excellent all season long as Mr. Milchick, to help us make sense of the finale, how Milchick feels being betrayed by his Innies yet again, how they pulled off that incredible marching band performance… and what might be next for Milchick and company in the just-announced Season 3. TVLINE | We saw some new layers to Milchick this season, and some humanity started to peek through a bit. But he played the villain again in the finale, with Helly and Dylan trapping him in the bathroom so that Mark could escape. What is Milchick's reaction to facing yet another rebellion from the MDR team? Can he believe the lack of gratitude from these people?I mean, those Innies are just so… they're just ingrates. [Laughs] We've watched this man basically give the Innies anything and everything they asked for. They asked for the funeral for Irving. That's not allowed, we learned that from Ms. Huang, but he did it anyway. The Innies insisted on exploring the outside world. He created this ORTBO for them to give them this experience. And not just throw them out in the middle of the forest, but the man built tents that had four-ply washroom tissue! You know what I mean? It's an attention to detail… TVLINE | Above and and beyond! And it is taken for granted. So there is a loss, a confusion, a frustration I believe that Milchick is sitting with when it comes to the Innies. But it's also coming from the board. It's coming from Drummond. You know, we see these paintings [Milchick received from the board earlier in Season 2], where this is the first instance where we are witnessing race being addressed in the world of Kier, and specifically at Lumon, and how we see the board handle this issue of race when it comes to Milchick and Natalie. And what I appreciate is how that story is left unanswered. We don't get a conclusion to that moment. But it's never lost, because I think all of what Milchick goes through, starting from Season 1, builds up to the finale of Season 2, when this man is knocking down this vending machine and going ham on this thing. It is totally earned. He's been through it. TVLINE | Yeah, that battle you had with the vending machine was pretty fierce. How many times did you crash into that thing? Did you get any bumps or bruises? You know, I actually jammed my shoulder and bruised a rib. Not because of anybody else, but it was just because I landed improperly. But I do want to say: The knocking down of that vending machine? There was no help. That is 100% Milchick. TVLINE | The finale also gave us another dance number for Mr. Milchick, with him leading a full marching band and drumline in the office. What kind of rehearsals and choreography went into pulling off that scene?Well, we had extensive rehearsals. We had a gentleman by the name of Teddy who has this group of various actors and musicians who filled in for the band, and I was adamant about working with them to really figure out their flavor. How do they walk? How do they march? What are their formations? Because it was important for me that Milchick was a part of this story and not on the outside. So he had to embody a lot of the traits that Choreography & Merriment would have exemplified. Because, again, I really think this was his idea, 100%. So there were a lot of conversations with Teddy, with Ty and Tyrone. Those were the three guys that were handling all the choreography. They sculpted some moves for me, but allowed me to develop my own taste and my own flavor in it as well, so that it felt organic in the moment. I believe we worked on that scene for a couple weeks, and that includes the preparation for it as well. There was a big group of people in the band who had never seen the show before, when they signed on to the project. And as we were working on this particular scene, I started to notice that some of the band members were acting differently towards me, and I got wind from one of the members of the drumline. Basically, these people started watching the show and realized that, 'Oh, Milchick's kind of an a–hole, and we don't like you.' [Laughs] But it was a lot of fun and very energetic. TVLINE | I know you can't say much about Season 3, but where does Milchick go from here? Cold Harbor is finished, and his entire macrodata refinement team has turned on him. Is his job in danger?I think everything's in danger at this point. We lose Drummond. He's murdered, essentially, and the Innies have run amok. Gemma is now outside of the floor. So there's a lot that's going on that leaves so much to imagination and so much to question, right? We also don't know what Milchick's mental state is at this point. We do see that Helly has basically corralled all of Choreography & Merriment to rally against him, and so he now has to figure out a way to get out of this. So it's very immediate, and it really does leave the question: What now? What do we do now? Give us your thoughts on Milchick's dance moves, the Season 2 finale and all things in a comment below.
