Why Sheriff Country Is Filming 2,100 Miles Away From Fire Country — Plus, Episode Count Confirmed

Back in April, Fire Country front man Max Thieriot confirmed for TVLine that the CBS hit's first spinoff, Sheriff Country, would be filming in Toronto — more than 2,000 miles east of Vancouver, where Fire Country's own production is based. As such, any crossovers between the two shows, which will air back-to-back on Friday night this fall, 'will be challenging,' Thieriot admitted, but 'they are still something we plan to do.' Stephen Colbert Gets a Visit From Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart and More Late-Night Hosts After Cancellation - Watch In the red carpet video above, Diane Farr, who plays Fire Country's Sharon, affirms it 'definitely' will be difficult to pull off crossovers, seeing as 'we shoot on opposite ends' of Canada — but it won't be 'impossible,' Thieriot insists. 'Nothing's impossible.' (In fact, TVLine recently shared a sneak peek at Farr's first Sheriff Country visit.) We now have a reason for the odd geographical discrepancy between the sister series, which are both set in the fictional Edgewater, Calif. As a guest on the July 22 episode of Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast, Sheriff Country headliner Morena Baccarin recalled being pitched the role of Sheriff Mickey Fox, who was introduced in an April 2024 episode of Fire Country and eyeballed for a spinoff. 'I said to them, 'This is a no-brainer for me, but I cannot shoot in Vancouver,'' Baccarin explained. 'There's, like, no way that my family survives, with three kids in New York City. [There's no way] that this could work.' Baccarin lives in New York City — a five-hour flight from Vancouver — with husband/onetime Gotham scene partner Ben McKenzie and three young children, including an 11-year-old son from her first marriage. After The Powers That Be split off and 'discussed it amongst themselves,' it was eventually agreed upon to film Sheriff Country in Toronto, which is just an hour-and-change from NYC via airplane, and thus allows Baccarin to return home every weekend. 'I was shocked,' Baccarin admits, 'because you know how these negotiations go.' Baccarin also revealed on the pod that Sheriff Country — which was ordered to series more than a year ago but got held for the 2025-26 TV season — has a 20-episode order for its freshman run. 'I haven't done network TV in a while [since NBC's The Endgame] because… the 20-episode thing is really tough on everybody,' she notes. 'But I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm really excited about the series. 'It's a great premise. It's a great character. I really, truly love the people that I'm working with who are creating the show,' she says. 'Brockheimer TV has been incredible in the process, and it's been smooth sailing.' Want SCOOP on any of the TV shows above? Email InsideLine@ and your question may be answered via Matt's Inside Line! ‘Star Trek' Star Makes Unexpected Comment About William Shatner

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Anson Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike, is opening up about his relationship with William Shatner. During an appearance on the July 15 episode of Michael Rosenbaum's podcast Inside of You, Mount said he occasionally has conversations with Shatner, who originated the role of Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series, which aired from 1966 to 1969. Mount surprised Rosenbaum by stating that he doesn't ask Shatner about his time starring in Star Trek. Rather Mount likes to ask about his horse farm. "I like to ask Bill about his horses ... He's really devoted most of his life to show horses and he goes all over the world with them," said Mount during the podcast interview. In addition, Mount complimented Shatner for his wit and high energy level at the age of 94. "I could only pray for that much energy at that age. He's a force of nature. It's unreal," said Mount. Mount then shared that he has been at fan conventions where Shatner has taken center stage during panels. According to Mount, audiences are absolutely mesmerized by Shatner. "I've been to a couple of things where they just put him out on stage with a folding chair and he just starts talking. And he'll talk an hour straight and have the audience captivated. He can turn it on like you wouldn't believe," said the actor. Mount mentioned his appreciation for Shatner in a June 12 Instagram upload. In the caption of the post, Mount confirmed that Star Trek: SNW, which premiered in 2022, will end after its 5th season. He also noted that both Captain Kirk and Captain Pike were at the helm of the USS Enterprise. "I grew up watching Bill Shatner strut his stuff across the bridge and sit in a chair that I could not fathom would one day be mine to occupy. It has been a dream fulfilled," read a portion of the caption. Star Trek: SNW Season 3 premieres on July 17 on Paramount+. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved

Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke join Zach Braff in Scrubs revival

Zach Braff will be joined in the Scrubs revival by Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke. The medial comedy-drama has officially been given a series order by ABC and not only is the show lead Zach reprising his role as Dr. John Michael 'J.D.' Dorian, he will be joined by his former co-stars as Dr. Chris Turk and Dr. Elliot Reid, his on-screen wife, respectively. Zach shared the news on his Instagram Stories, singing to the tune of Scrubs' theme song: "I can't do this all on my own/I need Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison" to the tune of the Scrubs theme, Lazlo Bane's "I'm No Superman." Sarah shared a number of throwback photos of herself, Zach, and Donald on Instagram along with the simple caption: "YAY!!!" Bill Lawrence, who created the original Scrubs - which ran for 182 episodes between 2001 and 2010 - will return as executive producer. He said in a statement: "Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together." In announcing the series for the revival, the official logline stated: "JD + Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way." When Scrubs was rebooted for a ninth season with the focus on a new batch of interns, Donald and John C. McGinley were the only cast members to stay on as regulars. Meanwhile, Zach previously confessed to feeling "exhausted" at the end of his time on 'Scrubs'. The 50-year-old actor loved the experience of shooting the show - but he also admitted that it took a toll on him. He told the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast: "I miss laughing every day. Belly laughing every day was - that was the job. And when that goes away, by the time nine years were over, we were sort of all exhausted by it." Zach also confessed that he "didn't really have much of a life outside of [the show]". He said: "We were starting to repeat jokes. Everyone's pretty fried. "We would do insane hours that people don't even do anymore. We didn't really have much of a life outside of it. So we were just kind of fried."

'There's a whole episode with me being cast as the Kool-Aid Guy,' Duhamel said during a recent appearance on the 'Inside of You' podcast. Duhamel, 52 added, 'Yeah, it's cool, I love Rogen and all them. But you'd think they would have called me and said like, 'Hey, do you mind if we use your name and likeness for this?' 'I didn't think they'd bring me back at all,' the Modern Family star said. 'I mean, who am I supposed to be? He's got to have a younger woman in this one, Happy Gilmore 2 .' In the 1996 original, Bowen played a PR rep who helped Happy navigate life on the links before the two fell for one another. Bowen returns for the new instalment alongside Sandler, Ben Stiller and Christopher McDonald. Julie Bowen and Adam Sandler in a scene from 1996's 'Happy Gilmore.' Photo by Universal Pictures Bowen said that she didn't even think she would be cast in the first film, saying that she presumed that producers would go with a 'hot girl.' 'I read and they were relieved,' she told host Michael Rosenbaum. 'They were visibly relieved. I go, 'What's going on?' They're like, 'Yeah, some of these girls are just so aggressively sexy.' And I was like, 'That's a bad thing?'' Although she has a smaller role in the upcoming movie, Bowen said that Sandler says she's an important part of the continuation. 'Adam's like, 'Stop saying that. You're the heart of the movie,'' she said. Bowen's comments echoed remarks she made last month at Netflix's TUDUM event in Los Angeles when she told The Hollywood Reporter that she didn't think she would be in it when she heard Happy Gilmore 2 was in the works. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. 'And that was OK — it was like Virginia Venit, it's been 30 years, (Happy's) got a hottie. He's got some little bitty on the side, like a cart girl,' she said, imaging aloud where Sandler's character would be after all this time. 'As a matter of fact my children told me, before I was even told officially that there was a Happy Gilmore sequel, my now 18-year-old said, 'Mom, I hear they're doing a sequel and he's with Sydney Sweeney as a cart girl.'' Bowen told THR she would have been happy to see Sweeney land a part in the movie ('Of course, why wouldn't you?'), but was shocked that she was welcomed back. 'When I got the call that I was actually in it, I was like, 'Are you sure? Come on.'' In addition to some of its returning cast, Happy Gilmore 2 features newcomers, including Paige Spiranac, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Travis Kelce, Kym Whitley and Eminem. Bowen revealed she lost her composure around Bad Bunny during his scenes. 'Seeing Bad Bunny on set I was just like, 'Oh, I can't actually look you in the eye, I'm going to have to walk away,' and I did. I think he was offended and I had to circle back and now I made it worse,' she joked. 'I'm the kind of person who doesn't want to meet her heroes because I think I'm just going to be a jackass.'
