They're also the top-ranked team in class 'A' baseball, according to the coaches poll. The Tigers have won eight class 'A' league games in-a-row. They're last in-state loss was Thursday, April 10, with a 4-0 setback to Jefferson. Harrisburg will play O'Gorman Thursday night, prior to the double header in Brookings. BROOKINGS Brookings has played a lot of games this season, leading to a 10-14 league record. They were an even 9-9, but the last week has been tough on them, going 1-5. Dell Rapids, Tri-Valley meet in Game of the Week

DELL RAPIDS, S.D. (KELO) — The class 'A' and 'B' boys basketball playoffs begin in South Dakota on Tuesday and that marks the return of the KELOLAND Sports Game of the Week. This week's matchup takes us to Dell Rapids, where the Quarriers will meet Tri-Valley in the region 3A playoffs. The game will air on KELOXTRA (TV) and on at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The video player at the top of the screen will update with the game available to watch. DELL RAPIDS The Quarriers earned the second-seed in the region 3A standings. Outcomes last Friday helped Dells jump from fourth to second in the standings. Second place and fifth place are separated by just .6 seed points in the region, as four of the seven teams finished with 11-9 records. Dell Rapids has been paced by their defense, which is giving up just 46 points per game. That's third best in their region. Offense has seen some struggles for the Quarriers. They're averaging just 49 points per game, second worst in 3A. Dell Rapids' magic number on offense appears to be 50 this season. They've scored at least 50 points in 11 games and in those contests, the Quarriers are 9-2. When they score less than 50 points, they're 2-7. TRI-VALLEY Tri-Valley had a solid start to the 2024-25 season. They won three of their first seven games to start 3-4. However, the Mustangs have won just one of their last 13 games. Tri-Valley scores about a point more per game than the Quarriers, as they average 50 points per game. Their Achilles heel is on defense. The Mustangs allow 60 points per game, worst in region 3A. The magic number for Tri-Valley defensively should be 55. They've held opponents under 55 points six times this year. They're 4-2 in those games. That means Tri-Valley has allowed 55 or more points in 14 games and they've lost every one of those contests. THE MATCHUP The two teams have already played once this season. Dell Rapids claimed a 57-35 win on February 6. Tri-Valley trailed 27-22 at halftime, but a costly third quarter saw Dell Rapids push the lead to 44-27 after three on their way to the win. THE GAME Tuesday's game will tip-off at 7 p.m. in Dell Rapids and you can watch the game on KELOXTRA (TV) and Play-by-play and commentary will be provided by KELOLAND's Grant Sweeter and Ian Sacks.
