Cabinet minister distributes Ayushman Bharat cards to beneficiaries

Delhi minister Ashish Sood and BJP MP Kamaljeet Sahrawat distributed Ayushman Bharat cards to over 5000 people in Delhi on Sunday. The beneficiaries, senior citizens aged 70 and above, will get healthcare cover of Rs 10 lac in the scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Vay Vandana Yojana. Speaking to people in Janakpuri locality, Mr. Sood said that people in Delhi are getting an extra benefit of ₹5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat scheme in addition to the ₹5 lakh health coverage provided under the same by the government of India. Setting a national benchmark, the rest of the money is top-up by the Delhi government, he added. He also criticised the previous government for deliberately stalling this public welfare scheme, thereby depriving millions of Delhiites of quality healthcare services. Ms Singh, who distributed the health cards in Vikaspuri, said that illness will no longer be a financial burden on the residents of Delhi, who can now access medical care without hesitation or obstacles at empanelled hospitals not just in the capital but across the country. 'This scheme guarantees both accessibility and quality of treatment. It is not just a health protection initiative but also a step towards restoring dignity and confidence in every family,' she added.

Over 5,000 beneficiaries in Delhi receive Ayushman Bharat health insurance cards

Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Delhi Lok Sabha member Kamaljeet Sahrawat on Sunday distributed Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) cards to over 5,000 beneficiaries. AB PM-JAY, the Central government's health insurance scheme, was rolled out in the Capital last month with the first batch of beneficiaries receiving the health cards. The ruling BJP made its implementation in the Capital one of its key promises in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly poll. Under AB PM-JAY, 6.5 lakh families will receive ₹5 lakh health cover per family for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation, with the Delhi government providing an additional ₹5 lakh cover from its own funds. Moreover, senior citizens aged 70 and above are entitled to health care coverage of ₹10 lakh under another scheme, Pradhan Mantri Vay Vandana Yojana. Attacking the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, Mr. Sood said lakhs of Delhiites were 'deprived of quality health care services' as the former government 'deliberately stalled' the Centre's public welfare schemes. Ms. Singh, who distributed the health cards in Vikaspuri, west Delhi, said illness will no longer be a financial burden on Delhi residents as they can now access medical care at empanelled hospitals not just in the Capital but across the country. 'This scheme guarantees both accessibility and quality of treatment. It is not just a health protection initiative but also a step towards restoring dignity and confidence in every family,' she added.
